Nepotism and Outright Thievery

It certainly is amazing how Cook County politicians seem to have some sort of genetic makeup that not only renders them immune to sarcasm, irony and shame, but they also seem to be able to pass on their governing genes to their offspring with amazing regularity. The latest:
  • The family of interim Cook County Board President Bobbie Steele has a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. She is about to step down as a county commissioner and a deal is in the works to appoint her son as her replacement.
And why would she be doing this now?
  • Bobbie Steele's decision to give up her $85,000-a-year commissioner's seat, also means her pension will be based on a salary of $175,000 a year for the last four months. So she'll be collecting an additional $65,000 immediately. If she lives to be 85, the difference between the two pensions will be about a million dollars.
Channel 7 and the Sun Times have coverage. Does anyone really wonder why pension systems are in such dire straits?

Hell, if Stroger's son can take his place, why SHOULDN'T Steele's son take hers? Remember, this IS Cook County.

It's because our city 'leaders' only do for themselves, their families/relatives, and friends.

They have screwed the working people in this city and driven Chicago into the ghetto ground.

I am outraged that the media is referring to today as "Black Friday".

Those with compassion and sensitivity will embrace diversity by referring to the day after Thanksgiving as "AFRICAN-AMERICAN FRIDAY"!

Here is the point:

Fine, go ahead. BUT, pensions for elected office should be given ONLY to those actually elected.

Chicago Politics at its finest. Both sides are doing the same thing wether they are black or white, democrat or republicans. We as police should answear calls and go home. Dont get into bullshit, no one really gives a fuck if we get injured. The only ones to watch out for is our family and fellow officers.

Help me out here college boys-

We are suppose to live in a elected representative republic?

But in Cook County we live in a ????? whats is called when a family maintains power?

HMMMMM....Monarchy? No wait thats what King Ritchie is in the State of Chicago.

But then again we live in The County of Cook, City of Chicago so that makes most of the citizens Dispassionate about the "elected" officials.

What about term limit imposition in Cook and Chicago? That will happen concurently with the removal of Residency Requirements.

This needs to change, no if ands or butts need to apply.

First off, why on earth should someone being Steele this time AROUND inherit a huge pension boost bump after filling a temp seat for only 4 months? She should pension out at her original pay scale. The County budget is out of control and once again we have another reason why. Spend, Spend, Spend! If this is an ALLEGED ordinance, a rule or law it needs to be changed NOW, knocking her and her ordained heir immediately out! Apparently its now fully in our face that these politicians own the exclusive rights to all these seats. Screw and dismiss all our aka citizens concerns over the mass corruption, misspending and mis-management in our so called Governments! Boy sure appears that Democracy has been completely taken over by the chosen few self ordained elitist's and blasted in all our faces with a snicker. This is a WE RULE YOU and YOUR answerable to US insult. I have little if any faith in this County, City or State's governing abilities! We have been once again consumed by a requester who is actually dictating their whims by crying. "It's a tradition and I will use the ploy of other's past, just to get my demands aka requests met just so I get my way!" WHEN WILL ENOUGH BE, ENOUGH! If ever picking was justified this is a prime example.

Second off, reflecting on the above again because it ticks me off! Since when is a request for a son set in stone and then named a tradition? Yes, it's been done in the past with other politicians and it's also become a hot issue that many tax paying citizens claim they are disgusted with. Since when did these positions become sole right ownership without input from any of the many citizens? Where is the verbal outrage and over-site. Oh yeah least I forget, Steele pulled this off on a holiday. Did she also bill us for the day and her family Turkey decision of her formal announcement via media? Cleaning up the County what a bad JOKE!

It really shows that Crook County and the City of Chicago really aren't afraid of the Feds, as they're doing things the same as usual, with only perhaps a bit of a different smokescreen. Perhaps they know something we don't. After all, how many of these politicians ever get caught, then convicted? Not many, as there are hundreds of them and their co-conspirators that are corrupt, and in comparison, very few ever pay the price. Then it's usually just a slap on the wrist, like the Sorich conviction. He'll probably still have his pension when he gets out, which will probably be before we CPD cops get our next pay raise.

Take your time, do things right,Stay safe, and
DUMP DALEY.

It's a far catch, but lift the residency req. I don't shop in the city, and I live next to the South Burbs. I could buy a newer and bigger house in Burbank or Oak Lawn. We shouldn't have to worry about our children going to a crappie CPS gang infested zoo or paying outrageous private school tuition. WTF!!! There's really place to build a new house in the city for the small lots offered. I could do a tear down in the getto, and place a watch tower with a 50mm on the roof. That might make it worth wild! Every year retirement looks even better. PLEASE Remember when it's time to vote again for city alder-crap fucks let's show them how we roll. LOL!!! Is there anyone that can take on the machine? (I mean anyone really worth voting for.)

In the Sun Times of 30 November 2006 there are two articles concerning outgoing County Board Member Bobbie “I’m not a bandit” Steele. Personally, I refuse to refer to anyone occupying that position as President. Page 13 has an article where she refuses to answer questions about the inflated pension benefit she allowed herself. Her quoted reply was “I am finished answering questions”. Page 23 has an article were she is quoted as telling Governor Rod “I am a bandit” Blagojevich that Cook County is in dire financial straits. On the radio this morning I heard her make the comment that “no one in my community, my church, my neighborhood has a problem with it.” I could only assume her remarks were in reference to her pension swindle and not new streetlights in her hood. Well Ms. Steele members of your “community” are clueless if they don’t have a problem with your blatant misuse of office. With one side of your mouth you cry poor mouth while the other side is stuffed full of Cook County pork. As Mr. Rogers used to ask “can you say hypocrite.” I invite you to come to my community, namely the working class– blue collar East Side / Steel Mill Variety, and see what kind of comments you receive. You can rest assured the comments won’t be the same. In the likelihood we never meet and I’m not allowed the opportunity to confront you directly, here is what I would say to you: “You are a bandit, you are a thief, you are a disgrace to your position, and you are no different than the rest of the bandits and thieves who masquerade under the title of politician.” Alas, the final insult you try to leave us with is none other than your son.
