Once Again, Stupid Shit
Someone posted this entire article in the comments section. As we've stated before, post a link please. Entire articles eat up too much space and it is frowned upon by lawyers. And everyone knows that lawyers are like nuclear weapons - everyone has to have one and hope you don't need one, because when you set it off, it fucks up everything for about a million years.
Anyway, the article deals with the one of the not so recent DUI's attached to a member of the CPD.

[named officer] had bloodshot, watery eyes, and his breath reeked of alcohol, police said. After he crashed into another car on Jan. 16, killing a man, he told police he was confused about the direction he had been driving.
[named officer], a three-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, was charged Monday with causing the death of a Griffith man.
According to court documents, [named officer] had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit. The driver of the other car, Kristina Hiltunen-Hamilton of Gary, tested positive for alcohol and drugs, police said.
Great. How many times are we going to have to go through this? Once again, GO SLEEP IT OFF SOMEWHERE.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've all been foolish at least once in our lives and driven when we probably shouldn't have. There is no shame in calling a cab. Let's learn something from these stories. See link.

There. You happy?
For the life of me, I cannot understand why those of us who have sworn to uphold the law have so much contempt for it when it comes to our own personal conduct.
If you are going to drink, then don't drive. Rent a room close to where you're going to party, or cab it. There is nothing "macho" about making your car an idiot driven killing machine; leave it!
Unfortunately, we'll see other coppers on this blog, involved in preventable (hopefully, off-duty) crashes while under the influence before this year runs out, either here locally, or in our neighboring states, Indiana or Wisconsin. Remember, no copper who stops you owes you his job, which is what it may cost them to "give you a break." And if you get caught, man up to it, don't make excuses or dump on the copper who removed you off the road.
leave the guns and cars alone if you are drinking. They will get you in trouble and then probably fired, if misused. It's not like it used to be. Cellphone cameras, etc, everywhere. If you drove somewhere and were drinking, get a ride home, or stop drinking alcohol at least 2 hours before leaving the bar. Drink non-alcohol drinks till you sober up. If in doubt, don't drive. None of us want to live with the memory of killing or crippling an innocent person or persons, thats part of the reason we're cops.
Happy Fuckin Holidays...
The 'mentality' of the "new breed".
