Politically Correct Stupidity

This is just dumb. But indicative of so many more problems with the "politically correct" crowd:
  • City officials sent a message to a movie studio that hoped to help sponsor a Christmas festival with advertising for its film about the night Mary and Joseph couldn't find a room at the inn: There's no room for you.
  • Worried that ads for "The Nativity Story" would offend non-Christians browsing in the traditional German Christkindlmarket in the heart of downtown, the city asked the German American Chamber of Commerce to reconsider New Line Cinema, which made the film, as a sponsor. The group then told the studio it would not be part of the bazaar that began Thursday.
It's a CHRISTMAS market! And there's a CHRISTMAS tree in the middle of Daley Plaza where they run this event. And there's even a NATIVITY DISPLAY in the plaza (along with other holiday displays put up by other religious groups).

And Chicago, that "enlightened" outpost of humanity between the east and west coasts, is the only city in the nation that objected to this advertising display. What a joke.

Of course they objected.

After what they've done and continue to do to our city, they would have to look @ pictures of the holy family, and feel guilty as hell.

I'm sure these same people don't have mirrors as well...

assholes.

This "political correctness" has run amok.

Christkindlmarkt, by definition, is a centuries old celebration of the birth of the baby Jesus.

In Munich on the Marienplatz and in other German towns, folks warm up at the red and white tents to sip gluhwein, a hot spiced wine and celebrate the Nativity of Christ.

But no--not at Daley Plaza!

My special "holiday message" to da Mare's Office of Special Events:

Fick dich, arschlochs! Du hast null Hoden!

SCC: if you are going to be politically correct, you mispelled. it is "Kristkindelmarkt."

it is a tradition from Nueremberg, a city in germany.

the german language does not use "ch" to pronounce a hard "k."

http://www.prachtvoll.de/99/kristkindlmarkt/index.html

i, being amongst the 44% of americans that are from german ancestry demand your apology (just like malcom would.)

The Republicans are bad enough.

Those damn "politically correct" liberal Democrats, assisted by the media, are destroying our once great Nation from within.

The Great Fall of the United States of America is well in progress.

The People's Republic of Chicago has a consistent history of not having any state sanctioned religion. Recall when King Richie yanked Good Friday( the holiest day in Christianity) as a city holiday and changed it to CAPS day? And he's a practicing Catholic whose father was a daily communicant! Anyone know how much a booth costs at this thing? My guess is that the city said no because the Movie's money was going to the organization, not the city.

Enough! I've had it with these PC assholes, the Democrats for holding hands with them, the Republicans for looking the other way.

I don't think its little Richie's fault on this one, do you honestly believe that something like this would get to his desk? Doesn't his chief of staff screen most of these things? If I remember correctly, he don't celebrate christmas.....

Simple solution: Shop in the Suburban Malls, NOT DOWNTOWN!!
A signifigant revenue drop will change their attitude very quickly.

Lets not offend anybody.....

I guess the saying "When in Rome do as the Romans do" should be dead and buried.

Earlier post references that Old man Daley was a religous man. Hmmm Can we assume that Chairman Daley, Leader of the Peoples Republic of Chicago is also a Catholic? If so shouldnt he be Ex-communicated from the Catholic Church for his stance on Gay Marriage? Abortion? Oh well if Sen. Ted Kennedy hasnt been why should he? Im not a catholic so I dont understand why those in charge dont have the balls to execute church disciple on those professed catholics who violate church law.

If America is indeed a Christian country then shouldnt non-Christians (ie. Jews, Muslims,Buddhists(sp))expect to see images of that belief? Neck they say a prayer before a nascar race...wonder how long before Nascar cowtows to political correctness.

If this was a Muslim country and Chairman Daley was a muslim would some type of retribution be handed out by the Clerics?

OK Im done ranting. I think that our political correctness just may be the undoing of this once great country.

I'm offended by the mere thought of being offended. So Christmas has nothing to do with religion. It's just another retail marketing scam ?

There is no 'war on christmas' you numbnut right wing freaks!
The reason why the city, in its wisdom, nixed the ads for the movie, was that it was blatant ADVERTISING FOR A FREAKING MOVIE! Before you decry the Liberal war on Xmas, you dumbasses, what the h-e-double hockey sticks is that HUGE display in the Civic center plaza? That's right, it's a freaking NATIVITY SCENE!!!
I am a Christian, and as such, would be much more offended had the nice christmas market been sullied by blatant movie advertising!
Oh, and by the way, you geniuses who support 'a real mayor' like Rudy, look at what he stands for -- abortion rights, marraiage rights for gays and lesbians and gun control, as well as a zero tolerance policy on crime. Now THAT's a Republican this liberal democrat can support!
