Suspect Charged
- A 17-year-old man was charged Wednesday with the shooting of a Shakespeare District police officer who was injured while trying to break up a fight between suspected gang members on the West Side Monday.
Roscoe Woods of the 8400 block of South Kenton Avenue was charged with one count each of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin. Both offenses are Class X felonies and carry penalties of six to 30 years in prison upon conviction, he said.

i noticed that they put a camera on that corner yesterday, when there has been gang activity for months. Its a shame that an officer had to get hurt before they decided to do something.

A JERSEY POLICE OFFICER WAS PULLED OVER IN HIS UNMARKED SQUAD CAR BY A STATE TROOPER. THE COPPER ASKED THE TROOPER TO WAIT UNTIL HIS SUPERVISOR SHOWED UP TO THE SCENE, AND THE JERSEY COPPER WAS PEPPERED SPARYED AND HANDCUFFED.

I grew up in St. Bede right down the street where this Bozo used to live. It a shame that all these neighborhoods are lost. Rental properties have destroyed most of this city. Most calls for service involve people who rent. Social serives are overwelmed. The city needs to charge $1,000 to the property owner for every rental unit he has in use. There is over 500,000 rental properties in the city. Do the math. This might force out the section 8 and maybe only working people could afford to live here. Bozo's new address by the way is 2650 S California.

I'd like to borrow an excellent idea from the reverend (I can't remember his name and I'm not motivated to look) who is so vehimently angry over the copper defending himself in the 3rd district. I think that since the shooter is African-American, Superintendent Cline should send letters to Jesse Jackson, James Meeks, and other leaders of the African American community requesting that they perform a thourough (and preferably independent) investigation of this matter and "report back" to the police community on why this young man chose to make an attempt on the life of a Chicago Police Officer. Let's see if the community will live up to its own standards!
