All those persons impressed with Todd "toddler" Stroger's attempts at reform ought to be amazed that they fell for the old song and dance routine of the Machine:
- A former administrator for Cook County Hospital in Chicago was fired in Las Vegas.
Agents raided his office, investigating accusations about corruption at a hospital there in a scheme with major ties to Chicago.
CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports a company at the center the investigation was just tapped by Cook County President Todd Stroger for a big contract here.
Lacy Thomas, the former Cook County Hospital CFO, reporting to his board in Las Vegas Tuesday, was in for a surprise. Right after that meeting, he was fired.
At the same time, investigators were stripping his office of computers and records of financial dealings with Chicago buddies allegedly paid big money for doing basically nothing.
Chicago - Las Vegas connections. Where have we heard that before. Hmmmm. Chicago is and always has been an Outfit town. Cook County always has been and will continue to be an Outfit appendage of the Chicago Machine. Just because the Outfit subcontracts it's work out nowadays doesn't mean it isn't still mob controlled.
And does this Department even investigate traditional (Mob) Organized Crime anymore? Or have we given up on that particular aspect of criminal enterprise?

Why are some of these people untouchable, such as Mayor Daley? If we have corrupt people on these levels, then there must be corrupt people on higher levels as well..

Chicago street gangs run just like our politicians.
A gang sells drugs on a particular block and brings money to the block. Mothers and Grandmothers ignore their son's & grandson's involvement in the dope selling cause they get a big screen TV. They don't rat them out cause they are getting a piece of the pie.
Chicagoans vote for toddler and daley cause their husbands or sons get easy jobs for the city.
Chicago and Cook county politicians are the largest street gang around.
Think about it. A street gang engages in illegal activity and spreads the wealth around to people in the community. (Many who are paid to ignore the illegal activity.)
Chicago & Cook County politicians buy their votes by giving out jobs. (So mamma can have a big screen tv) Jobs that are paid $100,000 a year for working 10 hrs a week. But everyone keeps quiet cause they are getting a piece of the pie.
And alderman give out unqualified candidates to be captain for the police dept. Hence all the stupid assholes who are captains. Most captains don't know the difference between an Agg Batt and an Agg Ass.
And it's the same on the Fire Dept. When 6 people died in the County building in 2003, a study was conducted as to why this happened. The panel concluded that the command staff on scene was not qualified to be there. They were merit and were not qualified to be in charge. The panel recommended to get rid of merit promotions.
But we have cortez trotter & phil cline. I feel safe. Chicago has to be the easiest target to hit by terrorists if they choose. We are fucked. I'll take my family and run like hell when they do. My retirement papers will go in that day. Pay me my pension and my comp time. LATER!
In the meantime, keep cutting the budget toddler. 17%. Get rid of all of the useless workers and you'll have my vote again. maybe daley will get a lesson. then again, not!!

Agreed even if you have master's degrees if you got no clout you will never be promoted unless your "lucky", but that is maybe 8% of promotions! This job is a cesspool of clout thanks to daley and his "CREW"!
i never ever thought i would think or even say this but the next supt. should be an outsider. somebody without all the i.o.u.s the current one and the last few before him were burdened with. and if that can't happen and it probably won't let's just go back to the old way and not even pretend this job is legit. let's go back to a time when the 6 o'clock news doesn't run this job.

Off Subject but need to vent:I am not condoning organized crime and yes I am a cop, but don’t you think it’s about time USA lays off the mafia and give them full reign to eliminate the terrorist and immigrants in the USA. Maybe, just maybe, they could solve the problem that our government keeps dragging it’s feet on. The mafia seems to always hit their targets unlike useless gang bangers, who kill innocent children and bystanders. Before commenting think before your response, just a thought. Cooleys book may be self serving I have not read it, but the older Defense Attorneys at 26 and Cal hate him and call him a snitch. There must be a lot of truth in it,he sure hit a nerve when he wrote that book. Maybe there should be a new book exposing the lawyers that only handle lawsuits and thier connection to the Judges handling these cases. Also its not that hard to obtain a Masters Degree now a days.
