Damn - we were hoping for "none of the above" to get the nod!
Anyway, we were wondering why the FOP didn't follow the lead of the Firefighters and just go endorse Dorothy Brown. Then we were directed to Dorothy's website by a friend and if you look down the left hand column about two thirds of the way down and you see a link titled "Police Torture."
And a parade of articles unfolds - The Defender, The New York Times, Human Rights Watch, The Reader - a veritable pantheon of leftist publications and their ilk who are very much of the anti-police stripe. Anti-police articles don't really bother the firefighters, but they really ought to bother the police. And if your entire campaign is based on the fact that you aren't Richie Daley AND a main plank in your campaign is an anti-police agenda, then she doesn't really deserve our endorsement.
The enemy of your enemy isn't necessarily your friend. Channel 7 covers the story.

Very interesting information about Dorothy Brown. I now see why FOP endorsed no one. It is a shame that nobody decent either white or black will step up to run against Daley. As much as I dislike Daley, he may be the lesser of the three evils, and I sure hate not to vote, guess I will write in Patrick Fitzgerald.

I use to work in 001 and we regularly received oral instructions to leave both the Standard Club and the Union League alone. I know the Union League ain't dumb. They went directly to the 001 dist. and hired (for cash) off-duty police to "work the front door." For what? To keep the doctors from getting outta hand? No silly, they were buying a pass from the working man.
On the other hand, the Jews at the Standard Club basically said you fuck with us and well call the Mayor. We did, and then were reassigned away from the beat so we could concentrate our efforts more towards the savage living on the south end of the district. I guess the Jews got it right?

What's worse, she said, is that an SBS attorney allegedly threatened to alert authorities of her immigration status once he learned she intended to take her battle to court.
"I was very sad. I cried. ... My feelings were hurt because I was mocked," Alvarez, 22, said in her native Spanish on Wednesday. "It's unjust."
Despite La Ley's claims, Alvarez said she was never informed verbally or in print that she had to be U.S. citizen or legal resident to be eligible to win Mexican-American singer Juan Rivera's old car during the July 4, 2005, contest at the Plaza Garibaldi, 2600 S. California.

So everyone is up in arms about this whole S&S ordeal. I can't say I don't aggree with everyone. My point is that everyone is saying to do this or that. We as the CPD need to organize and commit. If we say we are not going to write tix's for Feb that may not be doable. But could probably get organized enough to not write tickets for 1 week, maybe even 1 day. This is a great idea, but as you know we can't stick together. All the two year wonder clout babies will be scared that they may not keep their spot on afternoons or days. I for one am down with it.

Sorry, back to my original thought.
I spoke with FOP people. They indicated the vast majority of FOP members did NOT want an endorsement of Daley for mayor. [No brainer]
After looking at the alternatives and speaking with the other {cooperating} candidates, Dorothy Brown came across as fairly well spoken, educated and favorable in the first round. BUT a review of her web site [YOU check it out for yourself] indicates that she is NOT pro-police!!
So, given the above explanation, however brief, what would you [honestly] expect FOP to do?
They couldn't endorse Daley again.[ no-brainer] but Dorothy is not an endorsable candidate either, so they just remained neutral. NOT endorsing Daley sent the 'real' message, but just picking Dorothy who is NOT on our side simply don't make sense either.
So....when YOU go into that voting booth, vote YOUR conscience. FOP is merely providing guidance as far as their input is concerned.
[My humble opinion...the ONLY people that looks out for us.......... IS US !!!]

To the person who keeps posting that the Teamsters are a good Union for Law enforcement you are uneducated about this Union. They are a truckers union and represent a small portion of police... They care only about thier truckers.That is their bread and butter, meaning they make them(teamsters) the most money! I have experience with Teamsters local 705 Truckers and 714 law enforcement. If you think the teamsters are such a good union just ask the cook county sheriff's deputies who are all worried about being layed off, I don't know about you but I haven't heard a peep out of the Teamsters in the media about this 1 and yes the represent those deputies. Learn before you speak you F N G !!!!!!!!
I have a most excellent idea, what would it be like without any POLICE on the streets. No one to blame brutality on except the gang member who raped your mother, sister, girlfriend,etc. You get the point, too many leftist in the world thinking that only peace is needed to solve all of life's issues. What were headed for is civil disruption people. When we elect gang members to political office, you know, the ones that broke the LAWS are now making the LAWS, you have a major problem. Stick to your guns coppers watch each others backs, BLUE should always be thicker than Yellow!!

Dorthoy Brown has a link to COMMUNISTS!! Two of the other articles are form the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO!!!! How many CPD work at UC part time. Look who your working for!!! I wonder if it has anything to do with the amount we have to pay for our prescriptions, medical, tow bills for squads, uniforms (unlike the useless jag offs in the pretty red trucks that get a uniform allowance and it gets issued), over priced property, the favoritism towards minorities, the jag offs that run OPS, the taxes we pay that go towards city services that the ones that don't pay get, the Irish Dictator that has run our city and hates its police, I could probably go on for about 2 hours, but I think that sums up what it took those knuckleheads and the Fraternal Order of Pussys to finally figure out after all these years of blowin' that short Irish prick while they were screwing us.
TO the poster writing the extensive study on Dorothy Brown's speech impediments, I don't recall
the Mayor being a whizz at public speaking by a long shot. With all his blustering, blubbering, and red faced foolishness (referring to the Duffs, an Irish mob family) as "decent and hard working," who could ever vote for someone who would present this clan of bums as anything close to legitimate?
I say write tickets only on Sunday's on those who triple park taking over the streets and get them to complain to their Aldermen and write none during the weekdays to hurt the city's revenue

If you read my entire posting, I said I didnt care for any of the 3 stooges currently running as announced candidates, which would include the current mayor.
And, as an aside, I have never cast my vote for him in any election either.
I havent heard the third candidate speak but so far by the process of elimination either he or Patrick Fitzgerald will get my vote

Here's a history lesson for you, dickhead. John Burge was the real police. The guys who claimed they were "interrogated" by John Burge had killed two Chicago police officers. The fact that they lived to see a trial just goes to show the restraint that was shown by the Detective Division. And, to what end? So that, before they could be excuted (as they should have been), a nitwit, bleeding heart governor overturns their death penalty. I hope Ryan rots in hell right alongside all of the goofs that he "saved" from their proper punishments.

If rugai or any other aldercreatures cannot do for you why endorse them? their power is fleeting! We need a revolt throw them all out and start new!
None of the CPD Police unions are endorsing anyone. Do you know why? Because no one running for Mayor is worth endorsing. There is not a canidate that I would want my name associated with. Also don't forget that although you might not endorse someone if you dont endorse Lil richards appoinant at least he wont hold that against you during the upcoming contract negotiations.
Can't wait to get my flyer from Rugai. Go Somerville!
I have yet to receive the latest Law Enforcement for Rugai flyer, but I do not think that she deserves our support. Last election we were without a contract but she felt it was o.k. to vote herself a raise. It would have been nice to see her vote against the Alderman pay increase and be a little more vocal about settling police and fire contracts. One of Alderman Rugai’s new campaign promises is to put police cameras up at all of the parks in the ward. Most cops I speak to feel that these cameras are a waste and do very little. Just ask someone who is forced into running a POD mission. Any new or additional cameras that are requested by any alderman must be paid for by their ward and not the police department. It seems like the wards money could be better spent then on PODs. Let’s not forget that Alderman Rugai was handpicked/appointed by Mayor Daley and is just another part of the Machine. I hope that all the city workers in the 19th Ward, especially the police and firefighters vote against Rugai. It is time for a change and time to move away from Machine politics.
Daley won his first mayoral election thanks to the firefighters. He subsequently paid them back by treating them like indentured servants. "loyalty begets loyalty." To Daley loyalty is a one-way street.
45th ward alderman levar is no different. His attendance as a member of the police fire committee is a disgrace. attendance records can be obtained only by a FOIA request. why is that? aldermen are not held accountable.
levar will be the next politician to hand his "elected" office down to a relative, his son, if he is re-elected. Just as lipinski, steele, beavers, stroger, etc has before him. why are we such sheep? is it that we have to walk on eggshells out of fear of retribution? how did these elected officials become so powerful that the entire democratic process has been perverted to meet their needs at our expense?
we have to get back to the concept of "for and by the people."
we can only accomplish this by changing the current players by voting them out. They are bullies who use intimidation tactics to get their way. The only way that the majority receive any benefits from these aldermen is mere coincidence and for their self-preservation. They are not community minded, but selfish and self promoting, power hungry, narcissistic, greedy bottom dwellers. They do not serve the people, they serve themselves.
How can we teach our children any civics lessons when the process is so corrupt?
Burge, leave Florida and come back to Chicago and run for Mayor.

As a 19th ward resident, I am no fan of Rugai, but will tell you to be careful of Summerville. He is not what you think. Sheahan has my vote, but Summerville and Sheahan will split the vote and Rugai will win reelection.
Somerville not what he seems? He's a State's Attorney, ran last time and is open and honest--at least for a politician. He donated his own time throughout the summer bringing a huge screen around to any block party that requested him for no charge. I don't know who Sheehan is, never heard of him, don't know what he stands for, nor who's backing him. Is Somerville married to a Black woman? Yep, and I don't care, all of my contact with him and his family has been good and positive. He has plans for our community, bringing businesses to our vacant lots. He keeps asking why should we have to go to Orland to shop? "Together we can do better." I'm for giving him a chance, he's got my vote as a 19th Ward resident. Rugai has done nothing with her tenure to deserve another chance.
