TASER Cameras?

We heard a few months back that there were going to be cameras installed on the TASER weapons that many sergeants carry. We were looking forward to it as it would have provided a great highlight reel for the Christmas and Retirement parties.

Then we heard that they cancelled the program or at least delayed it for some reason.

Paul Huebl over at Crime, Guns and Videotape has a post up about how TASER cameras might soon be utilized in a number of municipalities and could be beneficial to supporting police versions of events. We maintain an open mind pending further review. We're just wondering if they're ever going to let the Beat guys carry these again.

Aside from better firepower, what we really need are 30 inch cocobolo nightsticks.

Nothing beats (pun intended) a good, old-fashioned wood shampoo for police fighters.

OFF TOPIC.....Wow. There was a citywide message over the PDT today from Dana Starks...apparently, we are suppossed to park MARKED squads LEGALLY, EVEN AT OUR JOBS! The message indicated that streets and san are encouraged to tow marked cars at po's expense. Nice. Hang on squad, Im three blocks from that 1A domestic looking for a parking spot.... This dept is pathetic. This city is pathetic. And I am pathetic for putting up with this crap.

I would love it if we could get a group of off duty coppers together to video record the real Chicago to post on these internet sites. I wonder how the public and the mayors office would react when the real Chicago is filmed and posted on the internet for everyone to see. How embarrassed would all these self proclaimed money whore reverends and community leaders react when everyone can witness first hand what there communities are really about and how all the money in the world couldn't fix them.

Tazer a Times driver ......All this crap about parking and towing police cars... what a bunch of crap... How about the breaks given to thousands of Sun Times drivers on 1st watch when they do what ever they want out there.... delivering papers is no big deal and nor should it be, however why drag the reputation of every man and woman in blue down into the dirt with the public that believe all this dung; all over some cop illegally parking...that’s a front page story worthy of full page color photo?????..Its not like anything else important is happening in this town or the world.... Give me a Break!!! Screw the Times, their drivers, reporters and the mama’s that shit tem out! ....................... Have a nice day!

What an ass....write the times drivers? They didn't write the story!! That's like saying YOU made the new policy to tow squad cars OFFICER.....after all it was a Chicago Police Officer who wrote that policy. Guess that about the same connection as the times driver having anything to do with writing the story!! So I guess you should order a tow on yourself should you park illegaly!!!

TIJUANA, Mexico -- The police department has issued about 60 slingshots to officers in the violent border city of Tijuana, where soldiers confiscated police weapons two weeks ago on allegations of collusion with drug traffickers.

Municipal police spokesman Fernando Bojorquez said Monday that the slingshots, along with bags of ballbearings, were given to officers patrolling areas of the city visited by tourists.
Tijuana's police force of 2,000 officers has been without guns since Jan. 5, but some patrol alongside armed state police.

About 100 police demonstrated outside Tijuana town hall on Monday demanding the return of their guns. "The arms are our tools for work," said officer Juan Manuel Nieves. "Do they want more police to be killed?"

More than 300 people were slain in Tijuana last year including 13 police officers.

I say thank god and it's about time. This has to do with the "sanctuary" policy da Mare has instituted for this city. The Mare prohibits the sworn members from following Federal Law in regards to illegal aliens in this country. Google New York city and alien status. It will open your eyes.

It is ridiculous that only Sergeants can carry the Taser.

"Excuse me Mr Irate fucking psycho, will you please wait until my Sergeant leaves the station to attack me? Thank you."

I am actively looking into other departments where not only do they let you be the police, they equip you like you are.

Let me get this right. You say dont ticket the Suntimes Drivers because they did not write or publish the artical. You are an IDIOT.

The delivery of those papers is the Suntimes bread and butter. Hit them where it hurts. Fuck the drivers.

Is the result of the artical hurting the Chicgo Police Dept? Hell no! It hurts the driver, THE P.O.

I have seen the trucks dive on the sidewalks, run stop signs and red lights. Go up the street the wrong way, not to mention the way they drive is just plain dangerous.

WRITE THEM BIG. All parking violations, all trafic violations and dont forget to inspect the trucks for saftey violations.

Cracked windshilds, bad tires, improperly secured loads. Check the drivers license of the driver. How about seat belts, the seat belts in those trucks have never been used.
I just took am inspectors beef for pulling out of the lot without a seatbelt on.

Take your time writing the tickets and I mean tickets, no less then 2 or three on every stop.

Any delay in the pappers getting delivered will effect the day to day operations even if just a little. But it will send a message.

The SCUMTIMES has no respect for the Chicago Police OFFICER. But they think they are exempt from the trafic laws themself.

If I ever handle a traffic accident involving a suntimes driver lookout the other motorist will be looking at a huge settlement from the Suntimes.

YES IT IS TRUE THAT THE ABILITY TO PUT A CAMERA ON A TASER ALREADY EXISTS. I HEARD IT WHEN I WENT TO TASER TRAINING ABOUT 2,3,4 YRS AGO.
PERSONALLY, I DON'T THINK THE CITY WILL DO IT. IF THEY DO I WON'T SIGN ONE OUT.
