Getting word of an Aldercreature's people being caught hacking into an opponent's campaign website. Combined with the recent "missteps" of 41st Aldercreature Doherty, it looks like Machine dirty politics is alive and well up north.

I'm not saying Dougherty has done a BAD job..it's just that he hasn't done very much at all. Ooooooo, he voted no to reparations. How brave of him...considering about 1% of his ward is black.
Anyone who who has ever been in Nicks Pub or Emerald Isle between 3 and 6 PM has personally witnessed this man slurring, and maybe even fighting.

Too many bad shootings by the police? a taser would never be a factor in a shooting- deadly force encounter. The taser is for non-life threatening situations, poeple fighting you, attcking you resisting etc, not for people brandishing any sort of weapon, if that taser mis-fires or is a dud cartridge and the assailant is armed in any fashion, you are in trouble. I would love to see it rolled out for p.o.s, it is another great tool. Thank Cline for that!

If your the police and live in the 41st ward why the hell would you vote for Brian Doherty. Don Markham is one of us. Isn’t that what you guys always preach here, to stick up for one of our own. That nothing is ever done for us poor slobs humping the city trash every day. Why not put one of our own into City Council. Don is a stand up guy who will not forget where he came from. If you know him you know this to be true. What has Doherty done for us. The previous post stated we have the highest population of Police and Fire and does Doherty do anything for us. Sure Brian is drunk and ignorant but mostly he has done nothing for us the boys in blue. For one time guys do the right thing and give Don your vote. YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN AND NOTHING TO LOSE!

Your right it is a shame, but what is a bigger shame is that people keep voting for him. Get him out of office, vote for Markham, at least he's one of us. And that idiot Hannon he wants section 8 in the neighborhood, and he's only 23 yoa just a little food for thought. We don't need a drunk leading the neighborhood, we work for an administration that is filled with drunks and look how unhappy we are now.
On Dec.15, 2006 Ald. Doherty requested a hearing addressing insurance coverage for mammograms for police personnel and their spouses, so he has done something...
Vote for Markham. He's one of us. He's a good family man. Why would you vote for Dougherty? Can you say SECTION 8? How much more section 8 do you want in our neighborhood?

I worked with Don Markham in 014 a all around good guy hes got my vote. Not the type to forget where he came from.
Doherty was a protege of McAuliffe Sr.He does the bidding for Mayor Stephens of Rosemont.
He'll win on tuesday, Markham might get 30% of the vote tops. Cops talk a big game but ALWAYS fall short of providing the numbers needed to win an election.
That fact has never changed.
Doherty will win, Markham will be a distant second and Hannon will only hurt Markham's barely existent chances. Hannon is Doherty's nader-- taking away votes Markham may have gotten. But the thing is-- its a very close-knit ward. Doherty has a lot of friends and a lot of businesses appreciate him as well. Should Brian clean up his act a bit? Of course! Will he? Doubt it. Either way-- I'll be casting my vote For Doherty-- hes a hell of a drinking buddy and a good boxing instructor!
Doherty is big in Edison Park only. I see the signs. He has very few signs anywhere else. He is hated in edgebrook. I know my neighbors are fed up and they arnt cops. They dont know about his drinking habits just that he is useless. Markham has a very good chance... He has my vote. I hope all the cops that read this give him a chance....
Donny is a great guy and great policeman, but does that equate to a great politician ? Brian Doherty is a drunk and does stupid things at times while drunk, but he HAS gotten things done for the ward. Have you ever called his office if you needed something or are you waiting for the politicians to become mind readers ? Normally, if you need anything (within reason) one phone call will get you results. I don't know the man, but i needed a new garbage can and one phone call took care of it. New can in one day. I know it may sound trivial to some, but, this is the stuff i look at when voting. To the guy on another post who said that the alderman took out his check valve and replaced it with another one and his basement still flooded...put in some flood control you idiot. You asked the alderman for help, got help, and still blame the alderman ? You are in idiot. I love Donny like a brother, maybe he could make the jump to politician, but it's a long shot.

Go into CLEAR, run Bt. #1611 arrests to get the update on PCS arrests, and see the wonderful tranformation the Emerald Isle, Nicks, and other bars are partly responsible for bringing to the neighborhood. You won't see this shit in Edgebrook or Norwood Park-the people are more educated, have pride in their community, and would'nt allow the neighborhood to be handed over to Irish tavern owners.
Doherty has singlehandedly sold Edison Park to scab firemen contractors who have in turn transformed a once sleepy little crimefree middle class hamlet of small, but unique homes, into a vinyl sided Irish ghetto. The character of the neighborhood has disolved into a bizarre checkerboard of expanded ranch style homes bearing the weight of enormous plastic sided second floor additions, absurd in their massive scale, and devoid of architectural substance. If you can't get up here to see for yourself go to 18th and Paulina and see some of the 012th Dist. "lean to's" displaying four or five different exterior products. They're nearly identical to the shit the fireman builders have imported to the Far Northwest Side.
If it were not for former 015th District Ranger Paul P. there would have no police coverage on my beat, and every Fathers Day at St. Adalberts Cemetery reminds of how woefully inadeqate ambulance coverage is in the event of a heart attack north of Touhy Avenue.
Where is this asshole when it comes to merit promotions and the wholesale giveaway of our pension to an exempt staff that cannot pass a sergeant or lieutenants examination but will retire at age fifty and rape the pension fund with sixty or seventy percent of their exempt salary when their career service rank is gang specialist? Walk the grounds or through the halls of the Ebinger School to see how little rescources are devoted to the children of the taxpayers while brand new schools with state of the art tech labs riddle the West and South Sides. Ed Smith does more in a weekend for his constituents than the malingerer from Galewood Park has done since taking office. I don't know Markham, and his campaign literature touts his membership in "The Ancient Order of Hibernians", yech, but I'm willing to seek out new blood. And maybe he was a merit sergeant because if he knew his general orders or department policy he would know you don't appear in uniform while engaged in political activity no matter what Les Smulivitz says. So keep stumbling over yourselves in a drunken stupor to kiss his ass at the Heritage(?) Center and you get what you deserve. As for me it's three and a half years and out! They're laughing at us in Park Ridge, Glenview, Wilmette. Sober up and open your eyes.

Why lump "cops" as they would all vote for Markham? There are a LARGE number of police officers that will be voting for Doherty. They'll be there in numbers- but not voting for Markham.
Anyone who has ever worked with Don will likely tell you he is a truly professional Officer, who works hard, and gives 110% every day. A fair guy who has worked in all facets of law enforcement, Don earned his stripes, even though had he been made meritoriously, there would be no one more deserving. Anyone residing in the 41st ward who doesnt realize it is time change is a fool, especially those who claim to wear blue...if you want a chance, a REAL chance, to have your voice heard in City Hall, and the concerns of the police heard, then Vote for Don on Tuesday....NO ONE will work harder for you and the community than Don Markham #54.

I am very happy with the service I have received from Doherty here in the 41st. Whenever I needed anything I have called and it was handled immediately. I don't know what the other person is talking about, but all I see in the ward is new construction mini-mansions replacing older frame and brick houses and new townhomes and condos replacing old factories on nwhwy, a definite improvement in the ward. As far as section 8, I don't think there is much anyone can do if a building owner decides to section 8 his apartment building or house,to try and block it is a violation of federal law and the fair housing act, yes it sucks but what can be done? that is more of an issue to be settled with the individual owner than the Alderman. Doherty has been a good Alderman and has my vote, as well as most other coppers votes.

I AGREE WITH YOU. I ALSO LIVE IN THE 41ST WARD AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH DOHERTY. THE FEW TIMES I HAD TO CALL HIS WARD OFFICE, THE PERSONNEL THERE WERE PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS AND I RECEIVED IMMEDIATE ACTION. AS FAR AS SECTION 8 HOUSING, THERE WAS SOME A COUPLE YEARS AGO, BUT THE CONDO CONVERSIONS GOING ON IN THE WARD SEEMED TO BE TAKING CARE OF THAT. THAT IS WHY I AM VOTING FOR DOHERTY. ALSO I HAD A MEETING WITH SEISER AND HE IS VOTING FOR DOHERTY. AT ELECTION TIME SEISER RUNS IT.
Doherty's a decent man and a respectable alderman.
