Why not? At 18, you're legally an adult in all 50 states. You can vote. If there was a draft, you can serve. You are eligible for jury duty, sign contracts, etc.
If you can pass the background checks, there is no reason at all not to be able to have a concealed carry permit.
the whacky college kids i donnoabout and the teachers are probably too liberal. but imagine if a building engineer or administrator or even the copy machine repair guy had his legally concealed handgun that day......just might have saved some lives.
BUT instead the college instituted a feel good policy of NO GUNS ON CAMPUS. of course there were guns on campus that day but only in the hands of the few police and one mad man. not too many people on that campus feel good now.
THE POLICY FAILED !
We as police officers know that when you need a gun right now,you had better have one, there is no substitute,you cannot wait for police in a situation like this.If you disagree,leave your gun in your locker after your tour is over.
im sorry but i cant believe how many whiney little bitches are in the cpd. This used to be one the the the most badass jobs on the planet. do you think things have changed since the old days? if anything, the oppurtunity for promotions is more abundent. Scc dont lie to yourself or your loyal readers, there are problems but they have been there for ages. In light of recent postings regarding tony soprano, what happened to to strong silient type, something i think chicago coppers idealized, and now just whiney little girls. No insults intended, well, maybe, but deal with it, this job is not fair, deal with it,you knew this before you came in, if you did not want beaurocratic bullshit you could have went to any other dpartment, skokie, orland or whatever you wanted. Burbscop gets barley any hits, why? cause they dont deal with the bullshit half the people on this blog complain about. The real CHICAGO POLICE are out there and something tells me they dont frequent this blog, only the little bitches.

Perception is more pwerful than reality. Contrary to what they say, politicians included, the gun grabbers are jumping with glee and happy, glorious joy. They love it when one of these isolated incidents comes along. They get a lot of traction and then legislation is proposed.
The right to bear arms was placed in the constitution for one reason and one reason only. It was not because there were bad people out there or Indians, British, and French. The Second Amendment was placed there so the populace could be armed in case the government turned tyrannical. They would have the ability to overthrow the government. All goun control- from banning machine guns by FDR to the present are out of fear and in response to politicians and political activists being killed. Traction and momentum was gained when JFK, RFK, and MLK wer killed.
Teddy and Jesse better die naturally. If another Kennedy or Civil Rights leader gets killed we will have a total ban on guns.
The time is here! Ban Firearms! Start with the ammo ban. Without ammo those guns will become mere clubs in about 6 months. Take everything off the shelves. Ammo and reloading supplies. Have agents go to all ranges and seize ammo from those there.
What they needed was a personal concerns program.

You know SCC, the anti-gunners are correct. If ALL guns and ammo are banned nationwide all gun violence will end. If you don't believe it look at DRUGS. It is ILLEGAL and BANNED almost everywhere in the world. You can see there isn't a drug problem any longer. Can't find any drugs or drug users. The Drug problem has been solved. So lighten up on the anti-gunners as they KNOW they are right.

Why do anti- gun people/nuts always state that "gun nuts" want "everybody to have guns?" As a "gun enthusiast" I don't want everybody to have guns, only those who are lawfully qualified. That means not a drug addict, not a person suffering from mental illness, not a criminal, etc. It pains me when I hear fellow officers blindly repeat the anti-gun mantras they hear from the MSM. As for college students having guns, not all are immature. When I was a college freshman I was 21 years old after having served three years in the 82nd Airborne Division. I was qualified with the M16 rifle, M60 machine gun, M1911 pistol, both the M79 and M203 grenade launchers, hand grenades, the LAW(light anti-tank weapon) and I was a medic. This freakin' dept. will let me only carry a sidearm. I guess I should be grateful that at least I can carry a .45. Long guns? Fuggedaboudit! Chuckie Williams told me NO.
Where's the great rebuttal from a SWAT member from Chicago.... did anyone else catch the post that told 'possible terrorists' the amount of time it takes to respond, where they (SWAT) go to assemble, and your general demeanor because you can't have a personnel vehicle to store 'your gear' and take home. Store it in your personal vehicle and have pre-designated rally points around the city to meet up. THEY READ THIS BLOG NOODLE ! To compare guns to illegal drugs is not the same. Most drugs like weed, heroin and cocaine are plant matter. Easily produced. Firearms on the other hand require a knowledge of machine shop and the tools needed. Gunpowder and primers are also difficult to make from scratch. A ban of such would in time render the supply to nonexistent.
The criminals and religious fanatics were only a part of the population that founded this country. There were people leaving Europe for economic and political freedoms. All of the Bill of Rights was denied to many of the people living over there. All the wealthy people in Europe owned land which was denied to the average citizen.

There's something profoundly pathetic about someone with the demeanor of a passive-aggressive waiter trying to play Steven Seagal. He reminded me of that "Mad TV" sketch with Woody Allen as a "gangsta" in the "Menace 2 Society" parody. The harder Cho tried to be a badass, the more lame and effiminate he became. How much Opium or Cocaine is made here in the USA? It is brought here from abroad. Same way illegal guns are brought into other countries that have gun bans. So you see it does work banning this stuff, can't get any Opium or Cocaine in this country as it is illegal and banned.
They have strict guns laws in England, and look at what happened to their trains. How about is at VT he chained all the doors and set the building on fire instead. Same result more dead bodies.
