Bad News Again
A whole bunch of police related stuff in the paper today - mostly crap again:
- A Cicero cop accused of roughing up a driver and another charged with helping to cover it up pleaded guilty Wednesday and promised they'd never again seek careers as police officers.
- Cook County taxpayers stand to pay almost half a million dollars to a couple who were shot at by off-duty sheriff's officers during a 1999 chase.
The officers had been at a political fund-raiser for former Sheriff Michael Sheahan and at a south suburban bar before they began following Cory Simmons and Dominique Mapp and shooting at them.
And of course, the requisite CPD scandal surfaces again:
- Embattled Chicago Police Officer Jerome Finnigan was charged with 10 more felonies Wednesday alleging he and two other cops stole $450,000 from a man.
Finnigan, 44, already faces felony charges stemming from his alleged activities on the Chicago Police Department's elite Special Operations Section. Six other SOS officers have also been charged.
The article goes on to state that the alleged $450,000 was split three ways. But only one person was charged with 10 additional felonies. Looks like a whole bunch of cooperation going on somewhere - and deals have been cut.

I don't know about you, but I don't have $450,000 cash laying around the house. What ever happened to a BANK? Unless of course you can't put the money in a bank because you- yourself are a crook(a drug dealer). And I don't believe this crap about getting the money from a "Landscaping Business" or "real estate deals in mexico". If you have $450,000 in a house, then you should be under investigation, explain to the IRS what you are doing with money, under radar, from the government.
It's more important to prosecute and make an example of the "corrupt" police than to look very closely at the real criminals.
Any "VICTIM" landcraper, high school drop-out businesman, or any other "businesman" with prior dope arrests who has over 450 G's laying around the house is a DRUG DEALER!
The police appears to take two steps forward, then stumble backwards for 3 yards, sort of remind you of a Bears game.
If you read the article the alleged victim says he had $450,000 in cash that was in garbage bags from a land sale in Mexico. Yeah right! Oh yeah that reminds me, I had a locker next to jerry and in that locker was $600,000 that I won at a cock fight in Mexico. Look I have a receipt from the super corrupt government in Mexico that says I won it. Were do I sign up for the law suit? After all the hype, and rush to judgment I am starting to believe almost all of the allegations are totally false. I hope their lawyers are good enough to get them acquitted.

Those Sheriffs were bombed out of their minds on booze. I recall the trial also, and those Sheriffs are quite lucky they weren't locked up. Even the judge called them all "Bozos," and said repeatedly at the end of the trial that all of the Sheriffs involved were stupid. Just lucky some innocent passerbys weren't struck by any of the numerous shots fired at that couple, who committed the horrendous offense of cutting them off in traffic. Road rage mixed with badges and lotsa booze. Lots of people in Law Enforcement shook their heads in disbelief over that one. Today, I have no doubt that all of those Sheriffs would have been not only found guilty in a criminal trial, but would have received maximum sentences. They're all lucky that occurred way before Abatte.

The officers had been at a political fund-raiser for former Sheriff Michael Sheahan and at a south suburban bar before they began following Cory Simmons and Dominique Mapp and shooting at them.
The county board is set next week to approve paying them $470,000 to settle their lawsuit, with one commissioner saying the officers' actions were "indefensible."
The five officers involved -- Andrew Remus, Thomas Lanigan, Anthony Bohling, Daniel Troike and Robert Jones -- were each acquitted of criminal charges, but all lost their jobs because of the incident.
Simmons was driving his SUV at 167th and Pulaski when he cut off Bohling's SUV. The vehicle full of officers pursued the couple for the next 30 minutes, firing shots. They raced through the south suburbs before Simmons stopped for help at the Robbins Police Department.
Bohling drove throughout the chase while Lanigan fired shots at the couple, court testimony revealed. The officers claimed someone fired shots at them first.
One bullet fired by Lanigan lodged in the side of Simmons' SUV, just above his head.
The couple's attorney, Andre Grant, did not return a call for comment Wednesday. Commissioner. Peter Silvestri, who chairs the county committee recommending the settlement, said "the officers' response was totally unjustified, totally unacceptable, totally ridiculous. How could you defend what they did?"
As you can see, no one even attempted to justify what these Sheriffs did. NO ONE. The Sheriffs involved are extremely fortunate that they ONLY got fired as a result of this incident. I think the county will be getting off easy with a payout of $740K. Does anyone

off duty chase with cook county officers? a 010th district copper attempted to pull over a cook county officer and he fled at high rates of speed into the parking lot of 26/cal jail entrance and ran into the building. his supervisor apologized for him and that was that. i was furious.
isnt it wonderful that finnegans antics have swayed the jury in the keith morgan trial, in which he shot 3 officers and was struck 25 times with gun fire, GSA positive on morgan and his 40 cal round pulled from 2 of the 3 coppers he shot, still found not guilty of 3 serious agg batt charges and jury hung on 3x attempted murder of police. all this negative BS absolutely cost the case.

Hopefully, his co- arrestees are smart enough to cut deals and not go to trial with him....look what happened to Eural Black....more time than any of the other Englewood brothers because of mandatory federal sentencing rules and probably less involvement than those who pled guilty.

isnt it wonderful that finnegans antics have swayed the jury in the keith morgan trial, in which he shot 3 officers and was struck 25 times with gun fire, GSA positive on morgan and his 40 cal round pulled from 2 of the 3 coppers he shot, still found not guilty of 3 serious agg batt charges and jury hung on 3x attempted murder of police. all this negative BS absolutely cost the case.

The SOS scandal had nothing to to do with this. It's not like the populace LOVED police right up until JF got indicted....
One statement of fact did come out during the trial of the sheriff's officers. Cory Simmons pulled over in front of one of his gang bangin friends who ran up to the car and fired a shot at the po's. Witnessed by two good citizens of Robbins and testified to during the trial. The State police conducted the investigation and could not find those witness's. A retired CPD homicide det found them. ASA's still continued with the prosecution and lost. And by the way they were NOT in a county vehicle. They were in TB's suv. Know your facts before you shoot your big mouths off. It's people like you that are the reason the county is so F&%$#@ up.
And how do we know the guy who claims he's out 450K is telling the truth? It was probably 450.00 dollars and he upped the amount. Before you know it everyone is going to claim they are missing some cash from a "mexican land deal"...give me a break.
