Great Idea for a Website
Run by a regular reader of ours who has claimed the moniker "The Asshat," he has opened up the "crookcountyasa" blog. His aim is to bring to light cases that were denied felony approval for whatever excuse the on duty ASA's could come up with.
Hopefully, he can bring a few of the more egregious incidents to light and highlight the uselessness of the so called "Felony Review," which more and more often just seems to be a place to put connected political lawyers who couldn't make it in the private sector.

You should be honored that someone has claimed the euphemism asshat.
That in itself speaks volumes.

How do I submit the cases. I have a couple that would shock everyone. Finally Darrin and Fabio and Bob will have to answer to the public when they are woken up at 3 in the morning and are in a bad mood and then they decide not to approve charges b/c of the mood that they are in. It happens all the time. Fuck them and the rest of the ASA's it is now us vs. them. Remember that!
The other night on the J Leno show he was in Vegas doing a regular feature on his show where he stops people on the street and ask them questions. That night it was asking if people knew the definition of hip words. Among the words were "ASSHAT" and "Bitch stamp".
That is a great idea for a website, I hope it really takes off and I hope some "good" media person gets wind of some of the stories and they come to light, maybe things will change here in crook co.

You know what? This is a new low in law enforcement. I understand that some of us are pissed about cases being rejected when the elements are there. However, they actually have to prosecute the case. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK TOGETHER TO GAIN JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIM!
I don't see how this petty sniping can help...it can only hurt. Almost to a man, the ASA's are honorable people doing an honorable job.

Why not just make it a Cook County Court System Website. Continuances 4 days in a row because budget cuts result in a shortage of court reporters. Judge Kenneth Fletcher in Branch 46 not granting continuances to officers on Furlo who were called in "because he doesnt want to show preference to the police" But the TODDLER sure had his 100 thousand dollars plus a year spokespersons out there hiding the truth about his (public figure) health condition.

aren't judges suppose to be on the bench at 9am (it aint happening). aren't judges suppose to put in an 8 hour day. good luck on fridays or any other day of the week when they have a party to go to, a golf outing or a quickie with a clerk from the ghetto. most asa's could give a rats ass about you or what you think or about what you had to go through to make the arrest.

Well my friend I think you are going to feel shame for years to come. You my friend are a fool, the ASA's are not your friends no matter what (remember that) they will put you in jail and prosecute you at the drop of a hat.
You think they are your friend and that we should work together , ask the Des Plaines P.O. and his girlfriend who got there ases kicked and that piece of sh*t Darren O'Brien refused charges of Aggravated Battery.
I am just fed up with the B.S. in this county and all the power they give to that goof. If the offender was a copper and caused no injury there would be approval no doubt about it.

By far, most of the ASA's I have ever dealt with were great. The problems at 26th street do not come from them but rather from the political leadership of that office. Devine is lazy so he let's Bob Milan run things. Milan is an incompetant and fails to see the real damage his administration has done to the relationship between the ASAs and the police. Darren O'Brien thinks he is God's gift to the law. A one man liberal supreme court.
Only two or three counties in all of Illinois have felony review. It exists in order to maintain control over the legal system by the local political powers.
But quit ragging on the ASAs and referring to them as enemies. Thats just plain childish and wrong. They are us and we are them, all victims of the totally corrupt democrat machine than runs Cook County and Chicago.

they will grandstand when they get a cpd officer look at the sos guys were they wrong? possibly due to the ignorance of the asa and dickie devine giving all of it to the media they are already guilty in this trial by media!
Wow, You cry babies hit an all time low... You whine and cry when the media a Joe blow paints a broad picture of the police department when a couple of guys screw up, but the same doesn't apply to anyone else? Sure there are some goofs in the ASA's office but to say they are all bad is just stupid. I know, I know, you are the greatest copper that every lived and you know everything about the law and how cases are put together and everyone else is just a dummy. I am sure some detectives can back me up on this but have you ever read some of the arrest and case reports that you great coppers put in the baskets? Its comical! My advice to young coppers is to take 5, slow down, think about what you write and say, review it a couple times and read it out loud. Make sure you have everything together then call the ASA. If you have everything in a pretty package with all the I’s And T'S dotted and crossed its almost impossible for them to deny legitimate charges. The ASA is a 3rd party investigator. They were not there when pookie punched you in the face. They do not have the same personal attachment to your case/arrest. Just like how you could care less when you show up and have to hear about ray ray punching his wife. If your going to have a ASA website how about a format like this one. We could hear about the good and the bad, have some laughs, maybe even some tips and clues on how to make sure your cases are approved. To outright bash the hole asa office is just stupid.
We really don't need Felony Review, just a review by CCSAO and on duty Watch Commander together. After WC has all the facts, Then the WC can approve the charges or not. The ASA's can still recommend charging or not, but the WC would have the final call on the ruling. Just an idea. WC also makes the decision to call in ASA's to confer with, or just charge Misdemaenor.

Either this is a joke and you simply forgot the punchline, or you have NO time on the job, do nothing, work inside, or are related to an ASA. Or, more likely you are a boss. ASA's will bend over backwards to charge a copper (abbatte DESERVED it, the POS), but they are not fair...felony dockets should be FULL of felony batteries in a "place of amusement". ASA's are good people and have an honorable job, but their system is broken due to dumbasses running the show. And by them denying charges when cause is there, THEY are screwing the victim, NOT US. And if they cannot prosecute, perhaps they should try another line of work. You should be a boss. You defend the status quo with the best of em. Sir.

I missed a comma. This is true. I wouldn't break my arm patting myself on the back if I were you. I can spell better than you. The word is spelled "circular"
You flawed logic confused the word "reactionary" meaning "conservative and opposing religious or social change" with "reactive" meaning "tending to react."
I am neither a rookie, boss, or ASA relative. I just believe that people deserve a fair shake. That is a sign of real intelligence.
