Support Gun Rights

Nice little essay that deserves front page coverage:
  • by Marko @ munchkinwrangler
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger,
and a single gay guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed. People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser. People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation...and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

"Quemadmoeum gladuis neminem occidit, occidentis telum est." (A sword is never a killer, it is a tool in the killer's hands.) - Lucius Annaeus Seneca, circa 45 AD

Many countries have gone on without handguns. In Japan they have very few crimes involving firearms. The handgun has always been a badman's gun.(Billy the Kid, Jesse and Frank James, the Younger brothers, etc.) Its time to stop playing "cowboys and indians" and grow up.

All good citizens should turn in their firearms immediately.

Also prominently display the international anti-gun symbol in the front window of your home to demonstrate compliance and solidarity.

Japan is a homogenous society that teaches respect for their elders, conforming to societal norms and never allows the anti-social behaviors so prevalent in America to take root and grow.

America is a melting pot that encourages innovation, rewards risk and unfortunately at times, turns the other way when confronted by situations that might infringe on the right of the individual to act like an asshole ocassionally.

The handgun has NOT always been a "badman's" gun and to think so shows you to be an ass of the highest order. Hand guns were and continue to be tools. Cars and Doctors kill far more people than hand guns ever have or ever will.

After the VA Tech shootings, I was watching the news and they were discussing how the NRA was all sorts of involved in the negotiations regarding what type of reactionary legislation should be passed. I couldn't help but yell at the TV, "WHY?!" because it is so absurd to me that they would have ANYTHING to do with the system, but they really do. They don't want assault weapons banned? Sure, NRA, anything you say. It's all bullshit, and I really can't help but be disenchanted by the entire system because of it.

Japan? Let's see now. Until getting their ass kicked in WW2 that country was run by an assortment of military dictators (Shoguns) who's power was concentrated in controlling the armies. Citizen's were forbidden to own firearms. All in all it didn't work out too well for them, did it?

RESPONSE:

Japan has one people - one race - the liberal Ashkenazi Jew does not have a great measure of control in Japan, thus ruining it by attacking it's culture and belief structure. Ghetto culture is not sold on TV. Gangbangers do not exist. Ya, sorry for speaking my mind. Apples and Oranges.

The handgun IS the badman's gun. Military forces have always used the rifle as the main weapon of the infantryman. The handgun is something one would hide on his person. Like a blackjack or a shank. In society they should be banned. But America it seems to be the dumping ground of the rest of the world. Like Australia, a land of convicts and bustouts.

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.

Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive.

Japan also believes very little for human life-- Look at WWII, and how they treated prisoners and other nationalities. They were a very bloodthirsty society and used swords and knives. The ONLY reason that society ended, for the time being, is because of the atomic bomb. NOW (for the time being) they are pacifists.
England has a ban on guns also, and they have endured terrorist attacks for many decades (IRA and now Muslims). So it doesn't make it any safer. The safest societies are the one race/nationality/religion ones. The minute you throw in a mix, people kill each other, guns, knives, bats, fire, whatever it takes.
If you think gun control will work, you probably also believe drug control works and there isn't any illegal drugs in this country. Read a LITTLE history!

Japan's a really good example. During the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, scores of Koreans living in Japan were lynched as Japanese police looked on with indifference. Lacking the means to fight back, they were of course helpless... as you advocate for the rest of us now.

SCC,
Are you familiar with the International Chief of Police Association?
http://www.theiacp.org/
This is an organization comprised of Chiefs of Police or those who they sponsor who initiate policy on law enforcement.
They restrict membership to nly the upper echelon and promote very socialistic and liberal philosphies. One being the abolition of all private ownership of firearms. They have an agenda and it is very unAmerican and very Marxist in its essence.

It should be exposed for what it is in a post with input from exempts and others in the know. You might be surprised at what you find out.

Do you know what the 1st amendment is? The founding fathers thought the freedom of speech, press, assembly and worship was the most important. Thats why they put it first.

This is an easy one.The Founding fathers knew, just as many today know, that speaking ones mind, verbally,in print,in a peaceful crowd is the FIRST course of protest to injustice.

If REASON is ignored then Force is then warranted.

Example:"Please Mr. Hitler don't gas me"
Hitler:"No im going to kill you anyway"
Jews:"we will fight in Warsaw""then we will form the state of Israel"
