Can anyone confirm that they sent out a letter today? Probably another class of 50?

it could possibly be a class of 100. They were budgeted to make 150 detectives for 2007 but have only promoted 50 in late Feb.Correct me if Iam wrong about promoting only 50 this year, just some info

HARV FOR MERIT DETECTIVE AND FOP PRESIDENT. HE IS THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB.
If the Lt. test is on the up and up then why isn't there a posted list of the rank order of those that took the first and second part of the test. Because the city doesn't want anyone to know where they scored in relation to others, other than by word of mouth. ------------------------------------------!!!!!!Here's an idea, all the Sgt's that scored in the top say 150 make a photo copy of your letter, and send it to the Sgt's Union. Sgt's union collects all the letters and posts the rank order list from the letters sent in and posts it on thier website, and then we will see who's merit...............
You hear about how understaffed this department is with manpower in both the Bur of Patrol and BIS, but that last time they made a class of Dets. was the beginning of February. Approx 10 months ago. The rate of attrition is moving rapidly, especially with Dets. And What is with these small classes of 50??? 40 get the position by their right of doing well on the test and 10 get the almighty annoiting from "MERIT"
What ever happened to the classes of 100-150??? Oh that's right, the smaller classes are a more effective learning environment,, Give me a break.. All those classes are filler power point presentations.
Once again, lies are permeating the blog. The tact Lt. in 005 is NOT a merit Lt. love him/hate him, he's there, and he got there on his own, and was ASKED to come there and replace Lt. Lardass. Last time I checked, there are 24 other Districts and over 48 other tact & gang teams to go work on if being in 005 is giving you so much stress. Sometimes a change of scenery works wonders!
But don't continue to be a coward here and post lies anonymously.

No kidding. Who wouldn't prefer to stay in a blue and white, running around handling one of any of those idiotic missions, or on a tact team playing the numbers game? How about earning your D-3 pay babysitting bitter crybabies like you?

When will this merit garbage stop,why do you think you will get quality people out of clout? I know it's not about quality,and merits not realy about merit. If that were so I wouldn't care who got picked and be happy for them.There are thoes that say "It doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you get there". well I think it does matter and the quality of people you get matters too, but it's not about quality is it.

yes they're working on the logistics for the next class (notifying guest speakers(agencies) submitting material reproductions, etc.). This is usually done two to three weeks out.
Yes, they (the supervisors from sgts to superintendant) are trying to make "detective" a paper shuffling job. This starts with sgts. and Lts. who, whether or not they have previously been dicks, never did learn the job.
I've seen sgts (peviously dicks) so scared to make a decesion they almost vomited on themselves. This comes from being all clout and no brains. One thing you can be sure of if they ever made a decesion you can bet it would be the wrong one.

The last time there was a ranking list was the 95 lt and sgt test. That is when Merit was initially started under that name. Since then, no numerical listing.

the fop always had a list of the legit and the merits but never released it, Im sure the pbpa is the same.
Yes it is true Detetive work is becoming a paper job. I sit there for several hours each day and sift through all the fucked up bullshit reports that come in from the street. I can't beleave what the Sgts. are signing these days.
The big differance is, I sit in a nice comfy arm chair in front of a computer in a clean office and do my paper with music playing in the backgound.
I don't have lump holleren in my face or sitting in the back seat stinking up the place while I do my paper, unlike you.
I am not tied to the zone, getting told where to go and what to do by a dispatcher who has no idea what Police work is all about.
When I need to get out of the Office I can take a cruse anywhere I want to go. I am not limited to a beat or a district or even the city. Many of the investigations take out of city the and sometimes out of the state.
I have no Sgt. or Lt. checking up on me all day and asking what I am donig and where I am at. The best part is if I do my job right, the only time I have to talk to a supervisor is to say hello in the morning and goodby at the end of the day.
You are right the Detectives job SUCKS, do yourself and all of us a favor and never take the test!
Wow almost forgot I need to take time due for tomorow, got some stuuf to do.

A PHENOMENAL IDEA!! If you're in the top 100, what do you have to lose by having your results posted? That way everyone can see who made it legit & who was merit, because the city will NEVER let us know who was merit...GOD FORBID!!!

I doubt a class of a 100 would be made. They have been sticking to 50 for a number of years. As far as budgeted for 150. Last years rumor was 250. They took 80 off the list that year and looks like the same this year. The first class from this list was at the end of 2005. So this would be the fifth class .

Hey Einstien, who the fuck do you think is merit? Each and every black and Hispanic, save one M/1, was merit in my Sgts. class eight months ago. Out of fifteen merit the handful of whites were almost all southside Irish. Talk to any of the fifteen for thirty seconds and you quickly realize they could not have legitimately scored within the top two thousand. Non compis mentis.
i think they went up to number 168 when they made the last class in feb

Big deal, you get G jobs, they sit in a folder, suspended, until prints come back or a pinch is made by a copper, you then go back to the folder and see how many you can clear with the in-custody offender. It isn't rocket science, you make it seem like it is such a rough job and you are sooo overworked....
Talk about merit? Ed Lenti Sr made merit sgt and Lt AND had the dicks in A/1 do his papers so he could pass classes in Lewis fake College so he had the credits to qualify for his merit promotions. He is Italian but becomes hispanic when it suits his needs.

With the sub 30% REAL clearance rate on homicides, we'll lose most of the conventions and insurers willing to write policies in our town soon enough anyway.
Just maybe you should have honed those interview and listening skills somewhere along the way.
