I'm just your average flat foot, but I've got a couple of ideas on saving a bit of our tax dollars. How about losing the $30,000 per aldercreature account for decorating their offices. How about the aldercreatures reducing their pay to that of enlisted personnel serving in the armed forces. They are, after all, public servants. Why should they get more cash to decorate than most of their constituents make in a year? And which one was crying that 30K wasn't enough?
How about the mayor not travel to his Michigan home with his escort of city cops. You thing that might save a buck or two? Maybe he should take his own advise and try taking the bus once in a while.
Hell, there are probably lots of little things that can be done to save a buck or two in these times.
Just my two cents...the two that haven't gone to the tax on bottled water.
Watched the news yesterday, they had a brief segmant on the county budget hearing and the best comment came from of all people, some dirty toothless crackhead. "If you have a leaking bucket you fix the leak, you don't just keep adding water to the bucket!!" So mr. mayor dickhead and our esteemed alderthieves, where is all the money going? Do we really need to spend over one hundred thousand a year to polish a bean? Do we really need 50 alderthieves using over three hundred thousand a year each(salary, car, office expenses, etc.)? New York has over three times the amount of people and only half the alderman/councilmen. Why do we change the plants in the stupid planter boxes each month whether needed or not? I could go on and on about wasteful spending. Any media reading this, here's a great investigative story to try your hand at.
If the city is short all this money, stop WAISTING all that money all bullshit and get back to basics starting with security of its citizens and visitors (aka police officers). how about all the useless aldermen and women give back that crazy 30% raise they gave themselves.

All money collected from any lottery or soon to be casino goes directly to the schools and not the general fund.Fine anyone caught with weed, no more jail for cannabis but a stiff fine will produce revenue and let's face it, most if not all of our arrestee's smoke weed.This revenue will be rather lucrative and can go into the general fund.Lower the taxes on gas and food stuffs, more volume sold equals more revenue, raising taxes drives people away to shop elsewhere(I only buy gas and food out of the city,and lately out of the county). These vehicle impoundmnets, while a good idea are too stiff, lower the fine to $500.00 flat,that way you will collect more revenue rather than the goof just saying to hell with the car,I'll just get another one.All of this can be done without hurting the taxpayer who is going broke just by living here.Cut your spending,lower taxes,and raise revenue.Where is the flaw in my plan? We are still going to get hammered. Instead of spending or wasting less money and prioritizing the budget based on emergency services, infrastructure, and sanitation, they will keep spending money on wasteful failures.
Unfortunately, the first cuts are always the services most needed. it is the I'll show you philosophy of politics.
We really cannot get around the property taxes. But, we can get around the rest. Do not shop in Chicago or Cook COunty any more. Do not pruchase gas here either. With a little planning, you could make all of your purchases outside the county and save a bundle.
Last week, I paid one dollar a gallon cheaper for gas in Will County. Smokes were three dollars cheaper, and the taxes on my food bill were cheaper.
I barely used any gas getting back. Buy off the internet if possible. Do anything but spend money in this city.

We have got to take it back, someway, somehow. I have a 90 yr-old grandmother that says she has never seen shit like this. Never. Years ago, politicians knew the public expected a bang for their buck and they AT THE VERY LEAST made an effort to appear that they were doing just that.
No more. Not anymore. They are arrogant, stupid bastards and sooner or later the public is going to figure out a way to get even and thin these assholes out. Put intelligent and responsible people back in office. We have to. Government is collapsing in front of us. The center cannot hold. This cannot go on. Average citizens are barely making it with supporting the welfare recipients who pimp the system and the politicians who are raping society in order to line their own pockets.

Thanks for the support but I'm not running for anything in this state. I do have some other ideas though. I always thought you should only be taxed based on a 40 hour work week, any overtime should be tax free and why stop at 25? Get rid of all 50 aldremen, I keep asking why do we need them at all?
