I remember attending the annual Exempt and officers Xmas party at Bigane's house last December just before this test. All of the exempts were kept upstairs while the PO's were shuffled downstairs in their basement. We were not allowed to talk to Cline or Grau or any other exempt upstairs and that is where I guess all of the deals were made! If Grau makes Supt. how long before Bigane does???

We were treated like A holes while Bigane kissed all of the bosses' asses. Is there any wonder who scored what on this exam??
The fix is in and the longer you are employed here you realize what exactly is going on! This city is a joke!!
Any promoted sgt should have a
* by there name indicating they were promoted from a test in which they had over 50% of the answers.
This test is an embarassment to any city worker. How can you retest the section of the test entitled "Think on your feet" when they gave the sgt's all of the questions already. It's the Chgo way!

This test will not last past 50 Sgt's. There is not more than 5 1's in the top 75! No 2's will be made meritorious because all of the 2's tested so well. Big headaches for the city and not many promotions off theis test!!

My score was not as good as I thought it might of been. But I am wishing everyone else the best of luck in their own scores. All I hope is that the testing and scoring process was legit and fair. As far as I am concern, I have enjoyed every position I have had on this job, enjoy the all the people I have worked with and look forward each day to going to work and having some fun while getting my job done. That is all that counts to me.

The test is what it is. You study for the test, you take the test, then you get your score. No matter what people say about the test someone has to be first and someone has to be last. As far as putting an * next to the names go ahead it will not matter.
I have no clout, no juice and never asked for a favor. I scored in the top 10. The scores came from Earnst & Young so I don't know how the fix was in. Like I said I have no clout and I did it. I did STUDY MY ASS OFF...
OFF TOPIC - Did you see Channel 5 last night and how a States Attorney turned on a Police Officer? The rule of thumb is - Trust a States Attorney as how you trust a defense attorney, no more, no less.

What about this copper in 025 and the ASA ride along? It is nice to see that Channel 5 gave him up while "under investigation." He hasn't been charged with a crime. They never seem to name an average citizen in an investigation until he has been chraged. Why the double standard? A recent example, I haven't heard the MSM name the "suspect" in the murder of Nailah Franklin.

Biganne has been working inside as a secretary her entire career. The old fat pervert bosses in hdqs always like to keep pretty girls without brains down there to make themselves feel good. Her past experience has nothing to do with police skills or supervision, and her husband Eric is a useless political hack who should be embarrassed because she apparently didn't share the pretest with him.
I agree with the post who spoke of the xmas party story at Biggane's house. That happened and has happened in the past. All exempt who attend that crap should be ashamed, but they aren't, because it's all about power and money to them. Its not about us, which is the department.
The part everyone has to remember is that every promotional test this city gives is created by us. We design the written first part and the oral second part. If its a sgt's test, certain exempt members will select certain sgt's they deem experts to design questions. This occurs for every rank promotional test, and then the exempts approve of the final and give it to the overpaid proctor company. The only thing that company does is physically give the test and grade it.
And know, it's not just questions or answers the chosen few get, it's the actual test. So when you see useless police like Biggane score number one, this is how it happens. And when the rest of the mopes who didn't get the test before the test, or were too stupid to even memorize, will be made by the merit process.
117. Without meritorious, I'd have a chance. Guess I'm right there on the bubble. However, the lawsuits that will be filed will hold this up for years. Oh well, I better start studying again.... :(

Example...
Last night a law enforcement type person who is off duty sees a large group of scumbags hanging by the annex building and the rear of the school at Dever Elementary School and calls it in. Knowing that there has been recent tagging and even a few arson case reports where someone damaged the annex building he figures its worth the police taking a look.
Beat 1631 arrives fully equipped with 2 female officers who dont even get out of the car, they just drive by and shine there light on them and then drive away.
Well guess what you two lazy do nothing pieces of garbage, right where those kids were standing the side of the building, and the blacktop is all newly tagged. You have to get your fatasses out of the car and do some police work once in a while.
Commander Price get someone who wants to be the police on that car. There are alot of city employees whos kids go to this school and we are growing tired of the lazy way these officers go about doing their job.
If they would have gotten out of the car they probably would have prevented this from occurring.
COMMANDER PRICE wake these lazy dogs up. Or put someone on the car that wants to do their job.
I think a cr for inattention to duty should be pulled.

Based on the amount of time and personal sacrifice I put into studying for all portions of the exam, I am extremely disappointed with my score...I would like to believe that the testing and scoring process was legit and fair, but how can I when we are not allowed to see how the grading is done ( 13 months for start to end), and we are forced to take the the city at it's word..
How many Sgt and Lt classes were made this year,one each? I think only one Det class was made.I know a north sider who got sent to area 2 and has been waiting for them to make another class so he can bid closer to home since like March.They might only be around 120 off of that list.Supposedly they are very short of bodies in that division and everywhere else.Is the city promoting so few due to budget,manpower, or no super? What is manpower at? Fop says we have over 11,000 active members below the rank of Sgt. Is that accurate? I always here the way to get the true number is checks cut and that it is well under 11,000.
There have been only a few lawsuits since Ernst&Young took over but this Lt's test goes back to the bad old days where every test had multiple suits.
The last Sgt list only went to 320! That is ridiculously low.The rumor mill says it was all done to line Phil's son up for merit Lt. Deny hundreds of people a career altering promotion to promote one person?! Unfortunatley it's probably true. Only in Chicago.

The test wes fair! Costs too much to give a new test on a whim, expect to see 140-150 off this list, not incl. the merit. In times of a "budget crisis," the taxpayers do not want to see money wasted on a new test. The test has "legal standing," because it withstood the first legal challenge, and all were given a chance to re-test.

For all those who scored well, congratulations. Even though there was/is descrepencies with this test, it shows your continued dedication to your self and the Department.
In addition, It is okay to Gloat, especially when everyone you know is coming up to you and they know about your score before you even tell anyone.

Deputy charged with reckless homicide
A Winnebago County sheriff's deputy has been indicted on reckless homicide and reckless driving charges in connection with an accident last year that killed two brothers, authorities said this morning.
Joseph Boomer, 34, was on duty when his squad car collided with a vehicle carrying three family members in January 2006 at West State Street and Weldon Road, killing Aaron Bachman, 21, and Daniel Bachman, 15, authorities said. Their sister Kori Bachman, then 19, was driving and was seriously injured.
The indictment alleges Boomer, of Rockford, was driving in excess of 100 m.p.h. in a 55-m.p.h. zone when his squad slammed into the victims' car, according to the Rockford Register-Star. Boomer's attorneys told the newspaper the deputy was on his way to an emergency call and had the right of way at the intersection.
Don't think your going to be protected when flying to calls with your emergency equipment going. This indictment came over a year after the incident. You have seconds to make a decision, they have months to go over what you did and CHARGE YOU!

I scored 144 points and placed 226 on the list. I'll never see bars from this test. Congratulations to Mark Aducci from 006! He deserved every point he got! Worked his butt off! Does anyone know if they used the scores from the the first or the second round of tests? I'm assuming they used the first test for the Sgts. who didn't take it twice, and the second for those who did. I just can't imagine doing so poorly on a test I knew every question to in advance. Oh well, better luck next time to those of us who blew it on this one!

It has nothing to do with Starks idiot, the numbers are always reviewed by more than one entity, when a shortage is discovered, they go to the hall, get the approval for the budget, then announce the promotion and yes merit is a part of it, and then the promotion takes place. I heard the class won't even be 20. Did you know that the Deputy Superintendents screen all candidates first and then submit the names to the Superintendent. Example for the stupid people. If they are making 20, 6 will be by merit. The Deputy Superintendents decide on maybe 10 names and the Superintendent chooses the 6. Wow, we really have to run. He is going to grab every westside minister's or alderman's brother with that number and look over the 1000 sergeants who deserve it because they didn't have a ring to kiss. Idiots, find something else to write about.

There is no great conspiracy or mass cheating. I have never been around a group of people like Chicago Police officers who can’t wait too see a person fail or step on their dicks. If you didn’t do well, be gracious enough to say, “ nice job” to the people that did well, and move on. I did not get any answers, nor was I included in any secret study group. I studied my balls off to make Sergeant in 2003, which included taking the Bernstien class. After I made Sergeant, I continued my education and earned a Masters Degree. I feel because of this, I did well enough to make it on my own, which I should as I scored below 50. So please, stop with the “if they did well, they had the answers, or they fixed the score”, because when you talk like this, you people sound like you should be pushing a french fry basket, not a squad car.

Chicago police have sustained an allegation against an officer accused of not following procedures during a DUI stop more than two years after prosecutors asked police to investigate -- prompting 50 of his DUI cases to be dropped.

They alleged that the officer didn't give a suspected DUI subject a field sobriety test, failed to observe him for 20 minutes before asking him to take a Breathalyzer exam, and did not tell him that he could refuse the test, said John Gorman, spokesman for the state's attorney.

Earnest and Young should be ashamed of itself and dis-associate itself from the city and never be involved in another city hiring/promotional test again. E&Y can obtain the source material needed for an exam on its own without having to interview people with a vested interest in seeing someone (family/friend) get promoted.
Some people made it on their own, yet one wonders how many were feed important information/material by bosses who were interviewed by E&Y as sources for test material or invited to super secret study groups where privileged information is fed to the group via a pipeline downtown. And of course if any information/material is released from the super secret study group the person who leaks it is out.
Any test that the city puts on is suspect. Why have applicants use number 2 pencils to score the answer electronically when they weigh each response anyway. If the test was legit, then they could feed your answer sheet immediately into a machine and spit out your score before you left the test site. Of course this approach would not allow the city/powers that be to influence the results of the test. There is no transparency with any promotional exam the city gives.
The insult to us all is the city wants us to believe that the promotional process (for any position in the Department) is legit.
damn! I didn't even get a score. Oh wait, I didn't take another fuxed up exam. Going bye bye PD, and shitty of Shitcago.

I am curious to see the original scores compared to the retest. I'd bet an almost 100% jump. Good job to those who studied hard, however I believe the most sensible (which we know is not in the CPD vocabulary) is to toss the whole test and have another test as this one will probably be mired in the legal system for a long, long time...

Just because you have a G.E.D. doesn't mean you're a dumbshit. It means you used to be a dumbshit. When I was in high school, I resented a lot of the bullshit that came with it. A lot of it was my own doing, but nonetheless, I didn't do my homework, didn't come to class like I should have, and eventually was shown the door.
When you put yourself in that position you have to make a decision: either continue being a bustout or get your ass in gear. I chose to put my ass in gear and I took the G.E.D. test cold and passed. So I would have something to go along with the G.E.D., I went to junior college for a year before coming on this job.
Never went back to school, even though the department would pay for it. I was too busy working, busting for bucks and watching my kids grow up. Took the sergeants test in ‘93 and made it. Beat out a lot of people who put their lives on hold who had more education than I did. That doesn't make me an Einstein, just means I'm not a dumbshit.
I have no regrets, and am happy for those who continue to move on. I can't be a lieutenant because I don't have a degree, but that's OK. I did all right for a guy who had his head up his ass when he was younger.
There are a lot of people with a G.E.D. who did all right for themselves. Look at the previous Surgeon General of the U.S. A highschool drop out, he went to the service, got his G.E.D. and managed to serve his country honorably in Viet Nam. Went to college, medical school, and did a pretty good job I'd say.
Good Luck to all those who passed the test. I hope you have more seniority than I do, I want to keep moving up in seniority.

I remember attending the annual Exempt and officers Xmas party at Bigane's house last December just before this test. All of the exempts were kept upstairs while the PO's were shuffled downstairs in their basement. We were not allowed to talk to Cline or Grau or any other exempt upstairs and that is where I guess all of the deals were made! If Grau makes Supt. how long before Bigane does???

If the Lt. test is on the up and up then why isn't there a posted list of the rank order of those that took the first and second part of the test. Because the city doesn't want anyone to know where they scored in relation to others, other than by word of mouth. The City also doesn't want to disclose the names of those that opted out of taking the second part of the exam by their absence on the rank order list. If the merit process is so legit then publish the list of merit appointees and indicate on the class roster the rank order and the merit appointees. Open up the process, but that isn't Daley's way.

Based on the amount of time and personal sacrifice I put into studying for all portions of the exam, I am extremely disappointed with my score...I would like to believe that the testing and scoring process was legit and fair, but how can I when we are not allowed to see how the grading is done ( 13 months for start to end), and we are forced to take the the city at it's word..
