One of Drew Peterson's relatives overdosed on pills after helping the former Bolingbrook police sergeant load a large barrel into Peterson's SUV the day Stacy Peterson vanished, a police source said Tuesday.
Thomas Morphey, a step-brother, was hospitalized but survived what the source described as a suicide attempt.
Morphey's wife called police, saying her husband heard of the disappearance, became distraught and feared he might have unwittingly helped dispose of Drew Peterson's wife's body, the source said.
Prosecutors have not called Morphey to testify before a grand jury examining the 23-year-old woman's disappearance because he has "memory lapses" about loading the barrel into Peterson's GMC Yukon Denali, the source said.

A man who spent eight years in prison pleading for the DNA test that finally cleared him of a rape charge filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the Chicago police, two detectives and a former crime lab analyst.
Marlon Pendleton, 50, said in the lawsuit that the detectives mismanaged the lineup that led to his arrest and the lab analyst who might have cleared him instead prepared a misleading report.
''The torment, suffering and irreversible damage inflicted upon Marlon Pendleton in all those hours, days, months and years in prison is unfathomably cruel and sad,'' Pendleton attorney Gareth Morris said.
Detectives Jack Stewart and Steven Barnes mismanaged the lineup at which a witness picked out Pendleton as the rapist by letting the witness see Pendleton in handcuffs before the lineup, the lawsuit said.
It also said that former crime lab analyst Pamela Fish, who is no longer a police employee, prepared a report wrongly saying that not enough evidence remained from the rape to perform a meaningful DNA test.

That would be great and I would applaud him all the way. People on this site saying he's guilty with no proof are just as bad as the rev's and ministers of the south and west sides. As it happens all to often, he will be CONVICTED IN THE MEDIA and never receive a fair trial.

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court rejected a challenge today to San Diego County's practice of routinely searching welfare applicants' homes without warrants and ruling out assistance for those who refuse to let them in.
The justices refused, without comment, to intervene in the case from San Diego County, where investigators from the District Attorney's Office show up unannounced at applicants' homes and conduct searches that include peeking into closets and cabinets. The visits do not require any suspicion of fraud and are intended to confirm that people are eligible for government aid.
Failure to submit to the searches, which can last an hour, disqualifies applicants from assistance.
The 10-year-old program was challenged by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of six single parents who were seeking assistance. The welfare applicants argued that the Fourth Amendment, which prohibits unreasonable searches, protects them from the home visits.
"When the investigator conducts the home inspection, no part of the home is off-limits," they said.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, upholding the program, said the Supreme Court in 1971 allowed social workers to visit homes in New York to determine eligibility. The appeals court, in a 2-1 decision, said the visits do not even constitute a search under the Fourth Amendment in part because people are free to turn away the investigators.
In dissent, however, Judge Raymond Fisher said it was unlawful for an investigator from the district attorney's office to go "walking through the applicant's home in search of physical evidence of ineligibility that could lead to criminal prosecution either for welfare fraud or other crimes unrelated to the welfare application."
Here is an interesting question. Drew's 4th wife is 5'00 tall and weighs 100 pounds. Why wold a guy the size of Drew need to have somebody help him move the barrel if his wife was in there? Why risk bringing another person into the matter? Even if he was going to load the drum with weights to keep it down under water. He could of waited to out the extra weight in the drum till he was at the body of water he was going to dump it in.

no chance. First, because they would be charged with felony disorderly at the very minimum, and second, because they would have to pay out to to the local depts and feds who will recoup for their resources. However, if this was cook county, it wouldn't be such a bad ploy!

So far over a 1/2 dozen A/2 dicks and a few P.O.'s have been called down to I.A.D. on this matter. The Cook County States Attorney's Office also sat in on these interviews. The guy who started all this is a dick-head. Here's a simple rule, if your star and wallet gets taken by a hoe from your house, just make a report with unknown offender information. They were talking about this one all last week at 26 and California when I was there for a trial. Some pretty spicy stuff. The female sgt has been known since she was on the job as a complete whack job and the hubby is just as whacked. He is the greatest cop on the job, just ask him, he'll tell ya.

Gordon Catlett said of the wounded camera at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Interstate 640 -- one of 15 camera-equipped intersections in the city.
Clifford E. Clark, 47, was charged with felony vandalism and reckless endangerment for allegedly firing at least three rounds from a .30-06hunting rifle at the camera, knocking it out of action.
He was arrested after patrol officers heard shots around 2 a.m. Sunday, spotted a minivan leaving the parking lot of a closed business and pulled it over. Inside they found Clark and the high-powered rifle.
Clark, now facing a $50 fine if convicted and loss of his rifle, refused to say anything about the incident to police, leaving the motive unclear.

What are the odds of this threads having content about two Stacys, One being the missing wife of a cop, the other being the CPD Sgt wife of a CPD detective.
Both are goofy ones. Our precious CPD Stacy actual published a Pole Dancing Web Site with numerous pics of her in her bikini on the pole and the other Stacy is as whacked as one can be for marrying a guy almost 3x her age.

I have a very strong suspicion that Drew will not allow himself to be arrested.
By that, I mean his demeanor indicates (to me anyway) a nonchalance at his pending arrest and conviction. One has this same feeling watching Herman Goering in old Nuremberg Trial programs. Goering too, taunted his captors and had a calm jovial demeanor, because he knew.
He knew that when the time came, when all avenues of rescue or escape were gone, he still had his way out.
With Goering it was a cyanide capsule, with Petersen, it will probably be eating a bullet.
If I were running the investigation, I would keep everything out of the news until the moment of arrest.
Then once in custody, put him on a suicide watch.
