Cops Rescue Family

Couple of guys from 025 see smoke over in 011 and do what just about every cop on the job would do:
  • Police officers rescued a woman and her two children from a fire in the Near Northwest Side Humboldt Park neighborhood Monday morning.

Firefighters were notified of a fire in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue at 11:15 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Rich Rosado. A still-and-box alarm was called for the fire, which was extinguished about 11:35 a.m., he said. The building is a one-and-a-half story brick home. [...] the tactical police officers left their district when they saw the smoke.

"It was kind of a desperate feeling out there," said Chicago Police Officer Joshua Diaz. "You know there is a child in there, you know there is a mom in there."
The officers caught the child dropped by the mother and then caught her as she jumped out the window. An excellent job all around. They really ought to frame this quote from the local aldercreature:
  • "This is something that I thank God that those police officers happened to be in the area at that time," said Ald. Walter Burnett.
Channel 2 also covers the story.

No truth to the rumor that Danny Davis insisted the victims were racially profiled, but Mope-rah is investigating claims that all of the rescuers were either white or hispanic and they really ought to have waited for a black officer to come by and pitch in.

GREAT JOB OFFICERS, YOU SHOULDVE MADE THE FIRST PAGE!

Lets face it, when it comes to FIRES, THE FIREMEN ARE THE LAST FUCKING GUYS ON THE SCENE, and 99.9% of the time by the time they get there, the Police have already evacuated, removed, or saved those in the building/structure.

This excludes Paramedics who work their asses off for less pay than Firemen.

And for the Tenth Millionth time, will our Chicago Firemen please, please, please stop talking about 911 and New York! You've exploited it enough. Fact is, mostly every copper knows how hard you guys really work.

Peace

Just a thought for officer safety. Don't kick in that door without touching it first. If it's hot you are not doing any one a favor by kicking it in. You may spread the fire faster with an increased oxygen supply. If it is smokey, stay low. Even the firefighters don't go in without air tanks.

Leave the firemen alone. They do their job, we do ours. No they are not as busy as they used to be due to smoke alarms and sprinkler systems, but who gives a shit. My only question is this: when the firemen make a rescue, they get front page coverage. Doesn't this fall under doing the job? I guaranfuckintee if that was a fireman who caught the lady and the kid, it's on the front of the scumtimes and all over the tv. Coppers do it and it rates page six, right above the botox ads. Hard to figure out the media sometimes. Or maybe it isn't.

"Tha Box Chevy Phantom sez..."

Uhhhh... Wait a sec... "TWEET, foul on the m/f&%#ing playing field!" Is there any substance to the p.o.'s from 025 supposedly have been subjected to a c/r#? If so, which wet-eyed, tea cake nibbling, mentally defective waste of a pregnancy - alleged supervisor initiated the #?

Heaven forbid if outside coppers are rolling past your house and they watch your loved ones burn alive because they took the MINIMUM POLICE ACTION by contacting C.F.D. (anonymous cuz well, they're an outside/adjoining unit so hell no they're not going to risk a c/r for going above and beyond... Besides, our fearless bleeders have said any and all c/r#'s will count against you office! So don't let these flaming, assclown whiteshirts "dirty" you up). So when mr/miss super supervisor wants to know why the working police didn't dash in and save Gram, Poindexter and Itchy & Scratchy, just say "With all due respect sir/ma'am. I did not wish to exceed the scope of my duties, as I would have been off my assigned post and subject to discipline had I entered the premise. But I did take appropriate police action by ensuring that immediate and timely notification to C.F.D was made".

What can they do? Get a c/r because you hurt their little feelings? (well, some super supervisors do but that is another post).

BTW, good job by the coppers... they should get life saving awards, and not some sillyshit honorable mention just because they didn't get injured either. The spvr who got the c/r# should be outed... who done it??

There is no CR#.
The Alderman was not invited by anybody at the District. The 6 P.O.s involved will be put in for more than one award.
Finally, if C.P.D. did not give an interview, the only story to air would have been Junebug telling how he saved the day.
If you have good news, share it. This Department has a public relations problem.
