Things Could Be Worse
Violence is spreading from Villiers le Bel to a dozen neighboring communities. At least twenty policemen have been injured so far tonight (forty injured last night according to the latest figures), some of them critically. The insurgents are using firebombs, iron rods, baseball bats, and firing buckshot. Journalists are attacked, their cameras are stolen. The mayor of Villiers le Bel is running a crisis center from an undisclosed location. Interior Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie is strangely absent, silent, or ineffectual. This is not the way it is supposed to be happening in the Sarkozy government. Don’t be surprised if Alliot-Marie is replaced early next year.
Cars, dumpsters, and buildings have been torched. A school gym has gone up in flames. Shop windows that weren’t smashed last night are targets tonight.
Police investigators and several eyewitnesses corroborate the patrolmen’s version of the accident. The police car was going at a normal speed, no sirens, no hot pursuit. The mini-motorcycle came down a side street at high speed and made a left turn, crashing directly into the police car. The police remained on the scene for approximately twenty to thirty minutes until the fire department ambulance arrived.
And the police, for the most part, don't respond there and are acknowledged to have no power there to maintain order. Sixty cops hospitalized over two days of rioting. We're just saying.

I don't hold to victimization psych when it comes to crime, but it is also true that some of the Algerians, et cetera, in France don't choose not to assimilate. Rather, the French oppose assimilation, even on a French National level. That is, French are very regional, and the Parisians are the worst. When you add in the factor of race, things get very ugly, indeed.
We have seen enough of the problems caused by Muslims in other parts of the world to know that disenfranchisement isn't the cause, but the French have probably precipitated things by their attitudes towards these immigrants.
On the other hand, in the US, until multiculturalism raised its ugly head, we encouraged assimilation, and many people whose families wished them not to assimilate rejected their traditions and became Americans. I think this is one reason our decline is lagging behind Europe's.
Of course, if you read Mark Steyn, another reason is that the US has subsidised the European slide into socialism since the second World War, and so we have accelerated the process there...

I say the same needs to be done here in america if you ask me. You see I have respect for a lot of the "old school" cops but I'm truly losing it for these new cops out on the street. I grew up in 2 of the districts that many "old school" officers may know all to well the 2nd and 21st district (the Hole and Deaborn homes)just to throw out some names to see where all the real old school officers are (Ron Kahn,Herc,Law,Jamo etc.) if any of you officers remember we gave each other hell but there was an level of understanding between among officers and us, a certain level of respect that we gave each other despite being on different sides of the law. And now when I look at these new breed of cops that the city is putting out on the streets I feel sorry for you guys. You got young cops on the streets trying to be so much like these young cats on the streets that they forget they are cops!!! I'd say they really give you guys a bad name and they don't realize how much danger they put themselves in. But hey I just really stopped by to what's up to all the old school cops it was real fun back then!!!
