Get Well Officer

  • Bond was set at $375,000 Thursday for man accused of running over a Chicago Police officer and fleeing the scene Tuesday night. The officer remains in serious condition Thursday.

Marcus Stanley, 25, of the 5200 block of South Honore Street, is charged with one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer in connection with Tuesday’s hit-and-run, according to a release from police News Affairs.

Cook County Judge Laura Sullivan set bond for Stanley at $375,000, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Andy Conklin.

Update as able.

I was working the zone that night and I just wanted to say that the officers did a great job responding to the call for help and the district cars, working together with the citywide units, apprehanded the offender later on in the evening. I want to wish the officer a speedy recovery and again, thanks to all the units that assisted when 015 needed it.

Off topic...but I need your help. I'm a little confused how this works.

How is it that ol' Sgt. Sullins (011) can find at least an hour out of his busy tour every evening to drive his squad car to the academy for the big workout, yet he's got his head up everyone's ass about their location at all times? And if it's all legit, then why doesn't he sign in at the desk? Is this a new 3rd watch workout program in 011? I don't see any of the blue shirts there. Please, tell us more about your 5 years in Area One Homicide.

This from the memorial website: This is where your payroll contributions are going.

On November 2nd the Executive Board of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation approved the following to go into effect January 1, 2008:

1.) The Foundation is offering tuition assistance for grammar school and high school for children of officers killed in the line of duty. The 100 club covers
college for children of officers killed in the line of duty.

2.) The Foundation is offering tuition assistance for grammar school, high school and college for children of officers catastrophically injured in the line of duty.

3.) The Foundation is offering a $1,000 education expense grant for all children of police officers killed in the line of duty and also for officers catastrophically injured in the line of duty each school year to cover miscellaneous expenses.

The Executive Board also approved that payroll contributions will not be used to cover the operating expenses of the Foundation.

Since the death benefit was approved in July, the Memorial Foundation has paid out $20,000.00 to the spouses of eight active police officers who have died.

The Executive Board has also approved at the July 2007 meeting the payment of health insurance premium for officers who are terminally ill.

Was told:

Officer was released from hospital yesterday with multiple skull fractures. The car ran over his head and torso. Sad to say that initially the jagoff (buyer) got away but was caught in the 023 district after Ol' girl gave him up. The dealer whom the officer was initially chasing was eventually caught too.

Asshole ASA's only charged the idiots with Agg. Batt. to P.O (like a slap in the face)

Officer is lucky to be alive and treated worse than a scumbag by our criminal justice system of Cook County. If this happend anywhere else even in Illinois it would have been better justice served.

Be careful doing proactive policing boys! These guys were doing a buy/bust in 015 and trying to do the right thing and one almost got killed.

Just think if "we" shot at the shithead and hit someone "we" would have either had numerous witnesses against us or been on some sort of camera showing something wrong etc.

Isn't that what ASA's do slap us PO's in the Face? Remember boys and girls this is Crook County, one of they only places in the "Free United States" that criminals can get away with murder. The ASA's reasoning was probably along these lines, "Well he is poor and the maintenance on his car probably wasn't up to snuff, and we all know that running over a person with a 3000lb vehicle traveling against the Earth's rotation couldn't produce enough force to actually kill the guy so we will charge him with Agg Batt."
Different situation reply (see above) then add, "Wait he is an off Duty PO? Definitely Attempt Murder, we will have to find out what aggravating factor we can toss in there since the Officer was armed with a handgun."

OT but crazy funny:

ISN'T MODERN LIFE MARVELLOUS? All risk has vanished, not least for high-risk behavior.

Hence Scott Anthony Gomez Jr., now suing the sheriff of Pueblo County in Colorado. Gomez was able to break out of his jail cell, push up a ceiling tile, and crawl to freedom through the ventilation shafts before slipping and falling 85 feet off the roof of his prison.

Gomez's second break-out in two years, the farce clearly showed "the defendants did next to nothing to ensure that the jail was secure and the plaintiff could not escape," says his lawsuit. So he's seeking $64,000 and more to cover his medical bills.

To the north in Saskatchewan, meantime, a 23-year old former drug addict has just sued her dealer - successfully - after paying him $40 for what she claims was only a $30 hit of crystal meth.

The crank was so good, Sandy Bergen then suffered a heart attack and spent 11 days in a coma. More than got what she came for!

But "the point is [the dealer] caused this problem, and he should have to pay," argued Ms.Bergen's lawyer. Bizarrely, the court agreed - and not without precedent. "There have already been similar cases in the United States," says The Vancouver Sun, "where more than a dozen states have passed a Drug Dealer Liability Act."

Sounds like IAD should check out the academy gym surveillance cameras and see if Sgt. Sullins left his district of assignment, and was grossly negligent in his supervising duties while working out on duty. Wonder if there could be a Rule 14 violation going on? Did he hold himself down on the air on something fictitious? I hear they are firing dumbasses for this kind of stupidity these days...

I REALLY SUGGEST OFFICER TO SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO WHAT THEY DONATED THEIR FAMILIES MONEY INTO.

PERHAPS THEY SHOULD INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF LIFE INSURANCE ON THEIR OWN POLICIES.

THE LINE ABOUT THEY WILL NOT PAY THEIR SALARY WITH FUND DONATED FROM PAYROLL IS A CROCK OF SHIT. UNLESS THEY HAVE A SEPARATE BANK ACCOUNT WITH THOSE FUNDS I DOUBT IT.

ANY ONE KNOW IF THEY ARE A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION SO I CAN LOOK EM UP. REMEMBER A CHARITY ONLY HAS TO DONATE CLOSE TO 10% OF THEIR CASH TO BE LEGIT.

AND IF THEY ARE HELPING ALL SORTS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE THEY I WOULD EXPECT TO SEE IT IN THE FOP NEWSLETTER.
IF IT WAS LEGIT!
IT IS GOOD NEWS RIGHT? HELPING KIDS.

WHATS THE PROCESS TO GET FUNDS?
WHEN DID THE OFFICER HAVE TO DIE?

Or, was it actually your pathetic attempt to recall a time when you deemed yourself "da real POleece", before you sucked yourself into a nice cozy spot at headquarters? Jesus Christ, I get so sick of hearing the argument that somehow the district you work/WORKED in is directly proportional to your worthiness as a cop! If all you bad-ass REAL POLEECES were really as bad-ass as you make yourselves out to be, you should have been able to clean up & turn these shit hole districts into crime-free havens! But, nope...they're still shitholes, aren't they??

Isn't closed market for the house mice??? YEAH!!! Shut your mouth! Waaaaaa Waaaaa.
So what if 23 is slow, don't be jealous.
If you heard all that stuff why didn't u speak up and tell those misguided officers what you thought about them and their attitudes? Are you chicken? I am sure they would have appreciated the opinion of a highly decorated and experienced supercop that works in an office!! Get over yourself!!!! I work in 23 and if I say something you don't agree with say so, but be ready have the verbal volley of your life.
Just remember everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Are we not adults, why can't we have a discussion? Why does it always have to get so ugly? You should look into therapy to enhance your social skills. Stop attacking other officers because YOU think they are wrong or say something you don't like. Be proactive not reactive.

I don't know the Sgt., but I do know that you are a rat.

I suspect you work in 011.

Someone out there knows this rat. Expose him and save the fellow cops in your district.

i dont work in 011 and i dont know or know of the sgt in question. you call him a rat?? maybe, but..if a sgt is busting everyones balls for their locations and he's 'sneaking' down to the academy to work out, then shame on the sgt. LEAD BY EXAMPLE

We saw you walk by as we were talking about Marcus Stanley who is born and raised in the area of Clarendon Park and is the shit head that tried to kill our brother. Many of us have dealt with this asshole. You came back to work in 023 after that rough stint in that terribly busy 17th district. Get a life. Best wishes to our injured brother and have a speedy recovery because this city needs you.

Man, I must say you have so much hate in your heart that you don't even know where to stop bitching. Are you a new PO? Because veterans, even if they hate their bossess so much, won't rat like you and just bite their tongues. I don't know the Sgt. and I have no intention of knowing him. But they, Sgt's, have their privileges also. If you don't like what you see then bid the f... out! There's other Districts you can go, unless you're still on probation...

We would do well with Dan Dugan. Yes he is intense, but extremely intelligent and probably one of the most knowledgable guys on this job.

1/25/2008 10:45:00 PM

If you work in area one you have seen Deputy Dugan on the street sisde by side with p.o.'s answering calls. I personally like the boss, he is never nit picking you , he is just there to supervise and he does that well. I hope he gets a higher spot we would be better suited.

Are you a moron or what. This guy is one of the best bosses on the job. We should pray we get him as 1st. Who cares if he is intense he is a cops cop. Very few bosses like him left.

1/25/2008 11:01:00 PM

I think this is one of the few coppers that just hate every boss. Dugan is a good boss and we need to know what is a good boss and whats a coward piece of, empty holster, shit! Dugan is a great boss and is always on the street with ya.

I worked with DD back in his days in the fightin' 004th. Lots of good people are exempts and bosses today from that tact team from back in the day! You dont know my rank (if any). You dont know my religion, marital status, sexual preference or race. You dont know enough about me to describe me in a case report. You dont know enough about me to say anything and you obviously haven't learned enough in your long and probably less than eventful career to say anything about anybody. 1. This is supposed to be about the wounded officer. Well wishes for him, bad vibes for the shitbird who hurt him and even bitching about the fact that its only agg batt is OK. Its not about ratting out fellow cops. Its not about bitching about supposed house mice on op closed market. Its not about any of that. Get over yer petty BS gang. Infighting is one of the reasons we are so weak now and if you dont think city hall knows and uses that you are foolish indeed. Divide an conquer is how the British got and then kept their empire for so long. The Daley empire is using it now. Wise up, dont rat each other out and quit with the petty nitpicking. So many of you sound like Cindy Brady! Its counterproductive, not dignified and embarrasing.

2. Say all the bad things you want about Starks (Lord knows I have) but if this is ture...

"Dana even gave that Lt. some $$ to give to the officers at the hospital to make sure that if the family was hungry or thirsty they would not to pay for it."

...Its a classy move.

3. To all those whiners and rats here, Starks (who I personally have MORE than my share of problems with) was there to show support to our wounded brother and his family. Were you? No? Were you at home ratting and bitching on the internet? If so shame on you and your fathers name. Your punishment is simply having to be you and you are too feeble in mind and soul to ever know or understand it.

Get well soon D. you, and your family, still have our prayers. If you are reading this most of us arent so bad, its just the bad ones who open thier petty ignorant mouths.

ma'am, I know if you are a "town hall ranger" you are not doing ANYTHING productive! The sooner the POs, Sgts, Lts, etc etc realize the fact that 023 is a retirement home the better off everyone will be. I can tell by your quick lack of wit response, and with the timing of your posts you definately have less than 5 years on the job. So yes, you do have hair gel, and NO, you dont have rank, and the difference between us is I could probably tell you half of your short pathetic life story based on what you have provided here, you on the other hand are most certainly looking to your partner for a come back! So if you are lucky enough to be the REAL police for 25 years and ride out until retirement doing closed market like myself, job well done... but I suspect you will make front page soon!

The offenders first court date....Br 50-2 on Tues 29Jan 0900 hours. i think it will be indicted before that..but a strong showing would be nice in the court room. And...Dana did give the money...and two officers who were there on thier own time went to get the food. Say what you will..but Dana showed up and he only has two weeks to go...where was Pres of FOP....couldn't get out of bed to check on an officer that had his head run over and is lucky to be alive???. The officer had no time to react..car came from behind and as he got knocked onto the hood, he fought to get out of the way before he ended up under the vehicle.

The story about Dana giving $$ out of his own pocket is true because I was there when he did that. He did not make a big deal out of it, he just handed it to the Lt. and told her to use it for whatever the officer's family may need through the night. A car was dispatched to pick up some of the officers family members and a Sgt and 2 officers were assigned to stay with the officer and his family all night. From one member of CPD to another, Thank you Dana.

To the closed market queen..... why do you think you are entitled to an easy ride because you have "25" years on the job? You sir are wrong! You still get paid for 8 just like the rest of us. Remember sir all that is required is that we show up for work and handle our jobs in a professional and efficient manner. Don't hate people because they are lucky enough to work in a nice place. Maybe you should use your hard earned (LOL) seniority and bid somewhere nice.
Before you retort with some nasty comments about your fellow officers remember this posting is about the officer that was hurt and well wishes. If you want to have your own bitch post start a new one, better yet start your own KMA blog. Oh and by the KISS MY ASS!

Again, with the comments about me that are soooo wrong!!

What if I told you that I am a supervisor with just over 28 years on the job. I am a little overwieght but still passed the power test. I have worked the south-side my entire career. I have never used hair gel because of my bald head. Kool-aid gives me heartburn. But most importantly, you are an idiot spouting off stuff here about people and you don't even know who they are. Telling me that I am young and wear hair gel. Telling me that I work in 023. I got news for you...You are an angry little man with issues. Every northside district is quiet. 017 is no exception. Still, we all know that you are inside doing NOTHING. Why don't you detail your career for us and I bet there is nothing there that would give you the right to boast about anything....you useless loud-mouthed, house-mouse, closed-market working mother-fu**ker!! how's that for wit jagballs??
