New Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis, a tough former FBI taskmaster who reports to work this week, still has not talked to any of his top brass.
"His office is vacant, no special requests have been made, and everyone is just waiting for the next shoe to drop after he gets sworn in at police headquarters," said a police source.
So if he isn't meeting with anyone downtown, he isn't letting anyone kiss his ass. He could be calling certain people to meet with him elsewhere, away from prying eyes, and conducting interviews with people he thinks he can trust. He might also be ignoring the whole thing and be coming in as a whirlwind to keep everyone off balance.
And just maybe, those hits we keep getting from Pennsylvania might be J-Fed taking a break from all the packing Mrs. J-Fed is making him do for the big move and he's just trying to keep up with what the hell he's walking into.

On 27JAN2008 a Deputy Chief from the Cicero Police Dept. was arrested in 007 by TRU for possession of cannabis. Apparently the Cicero officer did not identify himself until after an RD was already generated. According to Cicero PD, the Deputy has several open complaints against him and has pissed hot three times and somehow still has a job.
The only thing he has supposedly talked about is getting a policeman fired (hospital video). I don't think "This Could be a good sign" Hope I'm wrong.

A 47-year-old Cicero police commander -- the highest-ranking African-American police officer in the western suburb’s history -- was arrested Sunday night and charged with a misdemeanor narcotics offense and running a stop sign.
Wesley Scott, of Cicero, was charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis and issued a traffic citation for running a stop sign, police News Affairs Officer David Banks said.
Chicago Police stopped Scott, a member of the Cicero Police Department, at the 6700 block of South Ashland Avenue at about 9:10 p.m., Banks said.
“This officer is a really, really good guy. He’s a straight arrow,” Cicero spokesman Dan Proft said. “Any type of incident like this is beyond out of character. It really surprises me.”
Scott, a 20-year veteran of the Cicero Police Department, was appointed police commander by Cicero Town President Larry Dominick in 2005.
Scott was the first African-American police officer to be promoted to commander in Cicero history, Proft said.

RBT has been assigned to the district level since Cline was Chief of Dicks. This means that htere are Dets. are asigned certian jobs in certain districts IE. 007 robbery. Juvenile processers are also assigned to the district level. Agg Batts and Homicides are assigned on a basically rotating basis.
In regard to the cases you would call in, they are what they are. Sometimes they are good sometimes they are bad. Plus where would you put these dicks in, even in the newer stations space is a premium (Ever observe a TRU arrest?)

Cpl. Frank Holden says he was just doing his job.
The 26-year veteran tells the Asbury Park Press he retired at the end of the year because Police Chief Robert Oches is hurting morale.
Holden says he spoke to the chief about the vehicles that needed to be inspected several months ago.
The township is investigating whether the tickets are valid because some of the vehicles were out of service.

MAN LOSES EAR FLEEING POLICE
LA JOYA, Texas — A man driving a car full of suspected illegal immigrants lost his ear as he tried to flee from police.
The 22-year-old Mexican national had turned into a brushy field from a farm-to-market road Sunday when he tried to open the door and jump from the car, said Joe Cantu, a La Joya police spokesman.
The car door bounced against a tree and slammed shut on the man's head, cleanly severing his ear, police said.
Police and Border Patrol agents found four of the six passengers who fled the car after it came to a stop. Authorities also discovered four people in the car's trunk who were thought to be illegal immigrants from El Salvador and Honduras, Cantu said.
Police had stopped the 22-year-old driver, whose name was not released, for speeding. But he hit the gas after stopping beside of the road. After the accident, he was taken to a McAllen hospital.

He jumped out of the car right away after being stopped and never identified himself as an officer until after the weed was seen FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE HE ROLLED THE WINDOWS DOWN TO GET THE SMELL OUT (HIS WORDS) and the RD number was generated. There are cameras in the gas station where he was stopped and he manned up to it and admitted it was a stupid mistake. Before you all cast judgement on the officers, know that that commander has a prior history of pissing hot twice that got brushed under the table and is rumered to be "friendly" with the Black Stones. Off topic! I was in a bar near my Northwest Side home this weekend with some friends who are not officers. We were sitting behind a table of three 20 something males. These guys over the course of a couple of hours spewed nothing but police story after story. These guys gloated loudly about their rookie experiences while using non desirable language and sounded idiotic. They were making my skin crawl. Guys be a little bit more humble and learn to talk about something else outside of work!

The new Superintendent started today. I say lets give him a chance, anyone has to better than Cline. I also heard from a few guys that worked with him that he really is a great guy, smart as hell and doesn't mind listening.
I heard today from a very reliable source that the First Deputy is going to be Hubberman who is really a P.O. with only 8 true years on the job, now running CTA.
My hope is that we get someone who knows the street, cares about the police and wants to make Chicago a safer place for all. Someone who has risen through the ranks and has some idea what being the police is will make a better First Deputy, but hey, I guess that is why I am still a P.O. Morale is at an all time low, we need a boost from the real police.

Was in Vehicle Impound ct with a pair of TRU kids today. Jesus christ. One was thick with hair gel, tight jeans, long sleeved white t-shirt and had not bothered to shave. His partner was in uniform (barely) and would not get the phone out of her ear. They only interrupted their stories about how "worthless" 25 tact was (including how hard-charger corrected a dispatcher on air) to argue about who was going to testify. They wasted all the POs time and the atty stuffed into that tiny room.
Seriously, get over yourselves.
OK, Cicero COmmand staff locked up and some CPD dont approve. Well like I have always known, we have CORRUPT GANGBANGING CPD on this job who would give the Cicero guy and other drug users or dealers an undeserved break and probably would piss hot themselves. Also, Cicero gives CPD breaks for DUI? You ass, making 60k+ and you cant get a cab. How about the CPD polish kid who is in jail for killing someone because he was DUI.! So lock up police for something that you let civilians go on. When you want to go home on time or don't feel like doing the paper?? We are getting so far removed from what CPD once was. With every new story it seems like CPD is getting hi-jacked by police with a suburb mentality.
I guess when the city destroyed the projects CPD lost the need for a tough hard nosed P.O. who can see through the bullshit. Because what we are making now wouldn't have lasted two periods. We have the 2-3yr TRU unit all stars and all these 2 female super broad cars holding on to their college education for confidence. This is what CPD is using to replace the almost all male CPD that was home to alot of vietnam veterans. Now lead by a retired FBI agent. No wonder we are losing.

I believe not. He can not be issued the star because he does not have the training as required by the State of Illinois to be a peace officer, that is why he can't as of yet wear the CPD uniform.

Aldermen can carry pistols- had no training, but are peace officers sworn in by exemption. Did I mention he's a FED? The workout facilities at HQ and the first district were off limits unless you were assigned there. When I transferred to a district close to those facilities I called and inquired about it and was told no by both places. Front desk at HQ and desk sgt at 1st district. Never had problem at the academy or 22, but not HQ or 1st district. So please don't post or answer a post if you don't really have an answer. That's my pet peeve about this board. So many people have good, useful information but there are a lot of fucking know it alls who really don't know shit about the reality of the day to day stuff about the department who have all the answers.
So TRU are losers because they enjoy working?

Get real! Other civilians were appointed in exempt positions and wore stars. The mayor can do whatever. Read the standards board requirements. There are always some exemptions built into everything. Hey,3:03, thank you for your concern about the Officer that WAS STRUCK BY A SNOW PLOW. That's right, she was struck, she did not strike anything. As a matter of fact, the driver and his supervisor were more than a little upset because in their opinion, "A snowplow is an emergency vehicle and she should have gotten out of the way" when he came shooting out of the S&S yard at Grand and Central. And if you are doubting my story, you can go to the rear of 025 and view her vehicle. It's the one thats totaled out and is parked by the fence. You will also notice that most of the damage is on the right front side because thats where she WAS STRUCK by the snowplow as he came flying out of the yard. But thanks for your concern.

It amazes me the number of police officers who are willing to blame the TRU Unit for this incident while down playing the fact that this high ranking law enforcement official was in possession of narcotics.
It sad that at roll calls in the 007 PO's were informed that TRU could have used better judgement. The message was that TRU should have let him go.
New Superintendent, I hope you know what your getting into. 007 is great example of whats wrong with this job. Its a roadblock in your plans to get this department out of the dark ages. Its a leadership that breeds unprofessionalism. Its a mentality that doesnt know how to be the police without those rights violating old school tactics. A regime that applies its rules unequally among its officers.
This exist because of the old school mentality where supervisors without clout or with questionable backgrounds are sent to districts where nobody cares. It's a shame that the many young hard working officers in 007 dont have anyone to mentor and are at the mercy of these people.

Why would anyone second guess the Officers who locked up the Cicero Commander? We weren't there!! I work in 022 and have seen what the repercussions of being a nice guy are. Does the B.K. incident ring a bell?? The police extend "professional courtesy" to one of our own, and he goes to the media saying he was a victim of "racial profiling" & files a beef many hours later. He is a stone jagoff! In my 22 yrs I have extended this courtesy many, many times and will continue to do so...WHEN POSSIBLE! I think it's ignorant to sit on the sidelines and be a Monday morning quarterback. If they cut him loose, he beefs and it was picked up on a gas station video system, you same critics would be saying "they should've locked him up". All I'm saying is, I'm sure there was reason the Officers made the arrest. Let's not second guess their actions.

i am a former cicero officer who has worked on cpd now for almost 15 years. i have followed many officers who had left a once very corrupt town (cicero) to join the men and women in blue. i am very proud to wear the uniform and disappointed about many of the comments posted on this site.people have made some great points about this issue and others make me scrath my head in disbelief.in total prior to wearing the cpd star, i worked three years as a suburban officer with two different police agenies(one of course was in cicero).i have seen so many changes on this job some for the better and some for the worse. i will not point fingers here and say that cpd was wrong or right because i do not have all the facts on the stop.i will say that i have never ticketed/arrested anyone who is sworn or civillian employee of any police agency since graduation from the police academy. i have saved many coppers in my day (mostly cpd ) while employed as cpd and in the past as the suburban police.i realize now that times have changed and you really need to protect yourself. is this going to create a war now between the two departments? time will only tell i guess but i think this too will pass. back years ago when i was wearing the gray and black in cicero and proud to wear the star, i was stopped by cpd on lake shore drive for speeding. i dont deny having a heavy foot but was traveling much slower then most who blew past me.it was a simple traffic violation that could have been a warning for professional courtesy from one agency to another. needless to say i left with the citation and my license was sent to court. the response from the traffic guy was "fuck cicero and the suburban coppers who break the traffic laws". as i drove away i thought to myself "what the hell is wrong with cpd?". i thought of all the times i stopped cpd and there family members for countless traffic violations including dui and never once thought of sending them to court.that was always an unwritten rule.you dont fuck the police. well after that expierence i swore to myself that i would hammer every cpd officer including their family with every traffic violation possible.i even went back to work that day and told many of my fellow cicero police officers about what had happened.many agreed that pay back was going to be a bitch and there would be no breaks for cpd. after thinking about what had happened i realized that my thoughts about taking revenge were wrong and sure enough the first stop i made that day involved a cpd officer driving about 100 down cicero ave.i was ready to start my first day of revenge and thought to myself "for what?" because of one asshole on cpd who hates the air we breath. my record still stands and will always look out for my fellow officers the best i can. i know for a fact two po cicero coppers (full time not part time officers) live in chicago. i recently found this out as we stopped one the other day for expired plates and later learned that there was no insurance(at least did not have in auto).this po like any other was given a pass and sent on there way. i also stopped a cicero police civillian clerk who had a cicero police id with a suspended d/l no insurance and was also given a pass.i myself still have many ties to cicero and travel there often. yeah, cicero is a ghetto town but no worse than parts of chicago.i try not to make it a habbit of getting stopped by the police but have always(now as a member of cpd) been treated very well by the officers of the cicero police department.i think that this commander is a disgrace to us all but no worse then the recent members of cpd who have disgraced the star.times are bad for law enforcement and it seems like every one is against us.if we cant look out for one another(and im not saying to cover up for a dirty/corrupt po) , then who will?

How many CPD exempts were or are dirty? DUI, drugs, theft, DV, corrupt, sexual assault? Bring a exempt into a distrcit and the watch commander will stop the process right away. IAD even caters to exempts. What is the difference between Cicero and CPD exempts? CPD expect passes outside the city but do not return the favor. I always try to help PO's whenever possible. There are always ways to handle every situation. TRU is full of young, inexpereince officers. Such a shame we cannot extend professional courtesy.

Hey Asshole, Why don't you ask the officers in 007 what they think of their supervisors? Some supervisors are dumped here and some of us just enjoy being in a working district. I have no idea (and neither do you) what was said at a particular roll call, but it is true that TRU is full of unseasoned officers who only know how to make pimpy arrests. All exempt members, sworn or not, are issued stars and exempt ID cards. This is not anything new.
Civilian exempt members with stars cannot exercise police powers, including carrying a firearm or making arrests. They know this when they get their shit.
A suburban copper however may not know this. But unless the shit hits the fan, no one would ever know.

Excellent points. I've been on a suburb for 18 years. Gotten a couple passes for traffic in the city, plenty in the burbs, and given plenty to CPD as well, for more than traffic but nothing I wouldn't consider discretion for anyone on.
Most of the moronic comments on here about hating suburb cops are actually from dog-ass burb cops that are too scared and lazy to do shit, hate themselves, and have some stupid idea that in the city every pinch is for homicide. 99 percent of your city cops are solid guys that understand the job isn't all that different no matter where you work.
I also have never locked up or written another cop. I would have no qualms dumping a little weed on anyone, so I wouldn't on another cop. That said, wasn't there and wasn't my call. I won't disrespect their decision without knowing exactly what occurred. If the guy didn't ID himself until too late then that's his problem.
Re above comment: how can anybody be shocked. there are so so many thug coppers out there it's sickening. he was smokn a joint, he had more bud in the car driving around in the hood. the news made it out that he was this poor black man that the police stopped for no reason. then his lawyer says "my client did not have any cannabis in his possession" leading everybody to believe that the police planted it there. OMG!

I believe it is called looping. It is a technique that has been used in aircraft cockpit voice recorders for years. It continuously records, but also continuously erases everything after a minute. If activated it simply stops erasing. Aircraft CVRs simply erase after a set period of time, 30 minutes, I believe, so that they always contain the last 30 minutes of flight.

P.O. 007, I think you are full of yourself and fyi, I trained in 007 and worked there for several years, back when it was fully populated,remember the whisby's?, or St. Englewood Hosp.?, or the hospital on Honore (excellent food), back then the w/c's would not have questioned an excellent arrest and would have appreciated any outside help. Englewood sure ain't what it used to be, get over it, quit living on its old reputation.

Dude 0486 isn't just my biggest pinch it's my best pinch ever!!! It was a hard day....but I felt it was all worth it when they gave me the honorable for it. It hangs over the exit of my house like the "play like a champion" sign does for ND. I touch every day on the way out for work.

Thanks for that title. I always thought you had to do more than talk about how bosses don't deny slips and how the Sgt's are fine to get it. But that's cool it really helps me hold on to its "old reputation". Nothing says bad ass like holding on to 007's old reputation on SCC.
