Pax 501

In the latest PAX 501, J-Fed wants to thank everyone for a job well done. He further states that this is the best police department in the country. We won't disagree, just because it would seem impolite and we haven't worked for every department in the country, so we lack the necessary insight.

This paragraph is interesting though:
  • Recently, several departmental changes have made news headlines prior to an internal formal notification process. Please be assured that it is my goal and desire to ensure that, whenever possible, members are notified about changes that may have an impact on their day-to-day operations and responsibilities.
Reading into the "whenever possible" portion (which we take to mean "never") and the "impact on their...operations and responsibilities" phrase (which we'll interpret as "if it isn't your bureau, butt out"), we sense a chill wind blowing. Information might be about to become a rare commodity. While the feds believe in "decentralization," they also believe in compartmentalizing sensitive items, and decentralizing facilitates secret keeping. We've all heard the stories about the left hand not knowing what the right was doing because someone wouldn't share info.

We seem to recall someone, Starks maybe, attempting to make exempts responsible for information leaked out of their offices (memos, drafts, orders, etc.) This ran contrary to decades of police operations where information was the currency of the realm. Whoever controlled the info had the power (or the appearance of power). Certain people always knew when a choice spot was opening up somewhere. Others could beat the paperwork deadlines and have all the necessary attachments on hand via some mysterious power. And how about the headquarters crew always sweeping the top exam spots despite an inordinate amount of time spent far from actually honing job skills in a practical manner?

Leaks have always been the order of the day. Why else would the Department have had a Rumor Central PAX line set up for years? Why else would we get 10,000 visits on Friday?

the hairs on the back of my neck are starting to stand up again-- its an old indian thing-- is j-fed really a wolf dressed in sheeps clothing. a bloody weekend in chicago- 4 homicides and numerous people shot. j-fed what are you going to do about this. since you and your fbi buddies want to be the police, get a car from the area and make a few pinches. you can start with a few uuws and clear up a couple of agg batts. you are wearing the uniform, do the job. whoops, silly me, do you know what a uuw is or do you know who rides under the fin or under the forks. this isn't an xbox 360 game baby, this is real. so since you have zero tolerance for alleged misconduct by po's i have zero tolerance for a boss who is clueless. =======>------

Most exempts are clueless. Many have not worked the street since leaving the academy many years ago. Maybe he might do rides with working PO's if ODPO's would stop screwing up. He cannot ignore crimes committed by PO's. New time for us, so stop drinking and stealing. Uniform has little meaning when you commit crimes. It is your actions that speak loudly.

Get off the uniform for flips sake! How long are we gonna drag this dead horse subject to death. Any ass and half can wear a CPD uniform anyway. It's what's IN the uniform that makes it.

Off topic get whoever is negotiating for SWAT to work on our contract. These guys bypassed FOP and got 35th street by the short hairs.Word is the senior members of SWAT took the bull by horns and told 35th sergeants pay and take home cars or no SWAT team. Looks like their going to get it. Hope the rest of us get cost of living. We need leadership like this in patrol.

Uniform is a non issue. Move on already. Unifrom does not make the officer. Actions count. He wears the uniform only to show respect to the department. Abbate and JF also wore the uniform. BFD!

Jody, with all due respect this is not the FBI and we don't want to be the FBI. Info is gonna get leaked. Just do what you gotta do and let the heads roll. Cancelling black friday seemed kind of childish, like a kid taking his ball and leaving the park because the other kids don't play fair.

Enough about J-Fed wearing the uniform. Have you looked around lately. I would rather have him back me up then 80 percent of the sloppy, fat, ignorant, baseball hat wearing morons that wear the uniform.

Over 500 officers who were killed in the line of duty wore the uniform, not one fed.

You say this because you are not slpy fat or ignorant and I'm sure you never worked with a fed before either.

*****************************

I could not agree more with this one....those hats look ridiculous. I know that we need to keep warm, but who designed them? If you wear it correctly (star in front) the seams pop up and we look like mickey mouse. I have some stocking hats that I wear and they don't look like that. I am willing to bet that someone got a sweetheart deal on the contract, and that the R+D did absolutely no R at all. All they had to do was put one on. Dumbasses.

Again with the uniform topic. Give it up, folks. Move on to important items. Most P.O.'s do not care about J-FED wearing a uniform. This is a non-issue every where except in blog. He is the boss and will make necessary changes. Cline is gone.

Absolutely! and also get rid of that stupid beany-boy cap. There is no respect like the respect we are given when the real police show up in leather jackets and the authoritative crown hat pulled down close to your eyes.
It is ass-kicking time!!!
