Silly Statements

Geez, did Daley turn on the bullshit today or what?
  • An angry Mayor Richard Daley on Thursday called the Supreme Court's overturning of the Washington D.C. handgun ban "a very frightening decision" and vowed to fight vigorously any challenges to Chicago's ban.
Frightening? In what way? That people might be able to defend themselves in their own homes with perfectly legal firearms when the police are far away? And as to the fighting vigorously, on behalf of voters everywhere, stay the fuck away from deciding what's good for us. You work for us and we're telling you loud and clear to stay the hell away from our guns.
  • City officials expressed confidence the city would prevail in any court challenge, asserting, among other things, that the 2nd Amendment as part of the Bill of Rights restricts the federal government and does not apply to state and local governments.
Better re-read the opinion "city officials" and then take a civics course. ISRA and the NRA are going to beat the crap out of you in a civil trial. Surrender. Other articles:
  • An “outraged” Mayor Daley this morning denounced a U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Washington D.C.’s handgun ban as a “frightening decision” and a “return to the days of the Wild West.”
Forty-eight states in the country have concealed carry or "shall issue" laws. And guess what? The streets are only running red with blood in Washington DC, Chicago and areas where the law abiding citizens are forbidden the means to defend themselves. No "wild west" anywhere. In fact, double digit crime reductions are the norm. Seems the citizens know better than Daley and crew. How about this insanity - is this English?
  • But, how do you get a gun into your house? Does it fly in by a stork? You purchase a gun. You carry the gun in a car. You come to your home. And we’ve shown time and time again how many children have been killed in their homes by guns. Parents are away, they get the guns….The child takes the gun, runs out in the street, has an argument, comes back and shoots somebody.”
Would you care to share any of this alleged "study" where these statistics come from? What's that smell? Smell like ass. Did you pull this stats out of your ass Mr. Mayor? A properly secured weapon and a properly educated child eliminates this straw man argument instantly. But then, being a brainwashed Machine democrat, Daley doesn't believe in personal responsibility - the nanny state government knows best and has already decided guns are scary and evil.
  • Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis today said that 75 percent of Chicago’s murders involve firearms. So far this year, Chicago Police have responded to 15,000 “man with a gun” calls and 27,000 calls of “shots fired.”
And would J-Fed like to tell the public exactly how many of the "shots fired" calls or "man with a gun" calls or how many of the thousands of "confiscated" guns were registered according to existing unconstitutional laws? We'd imagine the number approaches zero with astonishing speed. How about all the murders (up 13% at last count) committed with registered guns? Again, if not zero, darn near zero.

Gun registration and regulation does nothing to prevent crime, it only makes criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens.

Holy it’s in slip opinion Batman!!!

Someone in the Da Mayor's office should read the 157 page opinion first before letting the stuttering prick talk to the media.

The Supreme Court’s majority opinion ends with these last words in pre-response to Da Mayor and others who share anxiety about gun violence in our city....

“We are aware of the problem of handgun violence in this
country, and we take seriously the concerns raised by the
many amici who believe that [prohibition of handgun
ownership is a solution]. The Constitution leaves the
District of Columbia a variety of tools for combating that
problem, including some measures regulating handguns,
see supra, at 54–55, and n. 26. But the enshrinement of
[constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy
choices off the table]. These include the [absolute prohibition
of handguns held and used for self-defense in the
home]. [Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment
is outmoded in a society where our standing army is
the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces
provide personal security, and where gun violence is a
serious problem]. That is perhaps debatable, but what is
not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to
pronounce the Second Amendment extinct”.

ATTENTION READERS:

DO NOT DOUBT FOR A MINUTE THIS DIRTY JAG OFF MAYOR IS NOT GOING TO WASTE TAXPAYER MONEY TO DEFEND THE UN-DEFENDABLE POSITIONS OF OUR CITY’S HANDGUN RESTRICTIONS ALREADY IN PLACE. THIS IGNORANT ASSHOLE WILL SAY THAT CHICAGO IS NOT EFFECTED BY THIS RULING AND CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE SUPREME COURT.

YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO EVERYTHING IS A FIGHT WITH THIS FUCKER. LOOK AT HOW LONG IT TOOK TO GET THE DEPARTMENT TO REQUIRE SIGNED AFFIDAVITS FROM CITIZENS WISHING TO MAKE COMPLAINTS AGAINST POS. YEARS AFTER THE STATE ENACTED THE LAW.

LOOK AT HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET A CONTRACT. WHEN OUR NEW CONTRACT IS SETTLED. IT WILL EXPIRE AGAIN WITHIN TWO YEARS.

GOVERNMENTAL WASTE AND CORRUPTION IS THE ONLY THING MAYOR DALEY IS GOOD FOR. WE NEED TO VOTE HIM OUT OF OFFICE, PLACE TERM LIMITS AND DISCOURAGE CAREERS IN STATE AND LOCAL POLITICS. INDIVIDUALS SHOULD ONLY SERVE EIGHT YEARS AND RETURN TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR A BETTER PERSON.

I take offense to the comment by the "mighty midget". I grew up in a house with a gun for over 24 yrs until I got married. My dad was a Chicago Police Officer, he unloaded and locked his gun up at night. We received many lectures and would have gotten our asses kicked if we ever touched that gun. We watched him clean it, but were never allowed to touch his duty gun.

So Mr Mayor, I ask you why, with your 10,000 (ya right) strong police officers and your crazy aldermen, WHY THERE AREN'T CHILDREN OF THE POLICE AND ALDERMEN OUT KILLING ANYONE? PLEASE TELL ME WHY?

COULD IT BE POSSIBLE THAT PEOPLE THAT HAVE LEGAL GUNS, HANDLE THEM RESPONSIBLY? MAYBE, THEY LOCK THEM UP WITH GUN LOCKS, PUT THEM IN A LOCKED BOX, AND TELL THEIR CHILDREN THAT GUNS ARE NOT A TOY.

YOU ARE A NUTCASE, MR MAYOR, ESPECIALLY ON TV LAST NIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE YOU WERE TRYING OUT FOR LAST COMIC STANDING. THANKS FOR THE LAUGH.

More lies from the dead tree media.

Daley warns court decision on gun bans has 'changed the rules' for police

"Chicago's former deputy corporation counsel Larry Rosenthal said the decision to overturn Washington, D.C.'s gun law "imperils both flat handgun bans and bans on carrying handguns, and for that reason, endangers the kind of policing tactics that have had the greatest success in fighting gang crime in urban areas."

"If the broadest interpretation of this decision is vindicated, police are going to lose the ability to engage in stop-and-frisk tactics when they see a suspicious bulge in the waist band of a known gang members standing in a known drug market. That's going to make police effectively helpless in combatting gang crime. Those are the stakes," said Rosenthal, a law professor at Chapman University."

A few politicians got it right.

"Illinois State Sen. Kirk Dillard said at least one-third of the households in his hometown, Hinsdale, have guns, one of the highest percentages in the state. He hailed the Supreme Court decision, saying, "I think the ruling today is good news. The criminals have guns, but law-abiding citizens should not have their rights jeopardized."

Off-duty cop wounded in shooting

THE BLOTTER
4:35 AM CDT, June 27, 2008

An off-duty Chicago police officer was shot and wounded on the city's South Side overnight.

The officer was hit in the hand and leg during an exchange of gunfire with his assailant in the 8200 block of South Evans Avenue at about 3:30 a.m., Chicago Police Officer David Banks said. The officer, who was not identified, was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was reported in stable condition with non-life-threatening wounds.

"We don't have confirmation that he [the suspect] was struck; we know he's still at-large," said Banks, who could not immediately provide a description.

Police fanned out across the Chatham neighborhood looking for the gunman early this morning. Banks said the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear.

Off duty P.O. shot last night at 82nd and evans. Was robbery victim, returned fire. The handgun the offender had was illegal. So how did the city gun laws protect the victim? They did not, the only thing that saved his life was the legal handgun that he as a police officer was permitted to carry off duty. This example says it all, and you Mr Mayor are an idiot and self appointed dictator of no one. What gives you the right to say that you know better than the constitution of the United States or the supreme court? You won't even allow retired officers to register new handguns they purchased after giving this city 30 plus years of their lives protecting others. You want them to be sheep and subject to your will. It just makes you fume at the thought of anyone going against your will. Hitler had nothing on you Mr Mayor. He banned guns also. If you would have done your research, the wild wild west as you put it was safer than present day Chicago and had less handgun violence. This is a fact backed up by statistics based on population you ignorant fool.

Yah, let 'em all be allowed to register and keep handguns within the city limits. That's gonna stop the drive by shootings, the armed street robberies and the general shithead gang shootings on the corner. Yah, letting people register and keep guns in their homes is gonna solve that.

And talk about the skyrocketing home invasion rate we got going in Chicago! Whoa! Yah, the home invasions are what's driving up the gang shootings, armed street robberies and driveby shootings. Alls those idiots we've seen lately on the news were all sitting in their home and were killed needlessly because they were unable to defend themselves while sitting in their home.

How pathetic it is to try and stand behind the scribblings of a few polititians written hundreds of years ago because they had the all knowing wisdom the see into the future and know that scumbag shitheads would be running around with guns as a fake symbol of their alleged manhood or status in their own little microcosm of society that's utterly useless to productive mainstream society.

The best way to fix all those skyrocketing numbers is to let the "honest" citizens who don't yet have criminal records to purchase and store handguns within their home in the "likely" event that they are a victim of that skyrocketing home invasion stat.

Wait, for some reason that doesn't make sense? Maybe what will happen is actually not a damn thing other than all those innocent "honest" gun purchasers and horders will have all their nice expensive guns stolen from their home in another one of those skyrocketing stats called BURGLARY. Hmmm, I'm sure the shitheads have a tons of guns, but I wonder if maybe they'll have a few more for free now, and the good kind, not the piece of shit lorcins and the other garbage they usually have. Maybe now just a few more of those shitheads will have some free QUALITY weapons from Sig, S&W, maybe even some H&K. And talk about a turnaround in the economy for those burglars! Maybe they can maintain a higher standard of living for themselves by choosing to burglarize the better neighborhoods with the better guns. Maybe they can bring up their stature within their own community by providing higher quality guns for the neighboring shitheads.

I think it's a great idea then!

Yah. Heh. That's right.

Seems like you guns freaks are missing an important point:

Being able to register and keep a gun in your house ain't nowhere near the same thing as being given a permit to carry the fuckin' thing. And THAT, you aint gonna get from this city or this state.

He claimed that the ruling only applies to DC, which is a "Federal Entity" whatever that bullshit means.
But a number of lawyers mentioned that Scalia specifically noted that the SC ruled in 1896 that the 1st Amendment applies everywhere, so that the 2nd also does.
Of course, the Little King has 3 dozen heavily armed bodyguards, who aren't out protecting & serving the public, just him, a city limo [armored?], & a couple of tail cars to protect him at all times.
All the aldermen are considered "peace officers" by law, get actual stars to carry & can posses any number of handguns without restrictions.

And so more millions goes to connected shysters to argue a bullshit case that was settled for good on Thursday!

I no longer live in Chicago, or Illinois for that matter. In addition to Federal law affecting retired P.O.'s, I also live in an enlightened, shall-issue, right to carry state. It is interesting that crimes using firearms are still big news here, inclouding in the major metropolitan areas. Believe me, it is a refreshing change.

I can imagine that the city will now spend enormous amounts of the taxpayer's money to fight this ruling, in the hope that they can delay the effect of it on Chicago. This is the normal business model of the city. At one time, I personally had nothing against the mayor, even though I never voted for him or his father, but that was before he became hysterical about the gun issue, joined in all the lawsuits, and generally tried to make life miserable for anyone that disagreed with him on the issue. It was also before he unilateraly destroyed Meigs Field, which was probably the most arrogant act by any public official anywhere, in any democratic country in my lifetime.

Now, as stated, he will try to cause the usual delays to this decision. If he had any common sense, as well as any sense of liberty, he would try to implement some legislation that would be reasonable limits on gun ownership, registration, prohibitions in certain areas, and the like. It appears the the Court would allow those kind of policies. The taxpayers really should rise up to prevent their money being spent on a clear losing cause by a megalomaniac.

Incidentally, I wonder what the percentage of those shots fired, and man with a gun calls that the Superintendent referenced had any substance to them

This was obviously written by some 2 year wonder that still believes all the CPD company line bullshit. Hey asshat! wake the fuck up..! the city doesnt give a SHIT about the police. I reallly feel sorry for my brothers and sisters on CPD, get a clue(unless u have a really good phone call) look elsewhere..most if not all of these COZY little suburbs pay more and are better trained and equipped that YOU jagballs! ohhh by the way..yes..been here done that...class 87-5, 007 87-90, 012 90-92, now i work in a cozy little suburb making more..and..oh..BTW..I can live whereever the fuck i want.

-----------------------------------

2 year wonder? Not by a long shot. I hit 10 years in January. And I gave up on the company bs a longtime ago. I have seen too many friends get fucked every which way possible for shit they didn't do or or were not responsible for. And have seen a few get seperated who really didn't deserve that.

And a phone call? You tink I would be in 007 if I had a phone call? And I can't seem to recall too many suburbs that exceed what the cpd pays. Thats mainly because of the lower cost of living. But some of us (me included) would be giving up a lot if we left for the burbs. And also dealing with being a small fish in an even smaller pond

So good luck living where the "fuck" you want. You really scared the 80/20's right off me with that one

I think that once the mayor looks at the bright side to this ruling he will change his tune. Imagine a new ordinance introduce by Alderman Burke which requires a $1000 city FOID card and then a $500 per gun registration fee. There will be all kinds of new tax money for city officials to waste and steal from taxpayers. This city is so soft I could imagine a day when they list gun owners on the internet like sex offenders so that you can keep your family "safe" and stay away from them.

###ATTENTION###
To all the P.O's that received their letters in the mail from the FOP regarding the BIS program DO NOT SIGN IT. If you do, it prevents you from seeking any form of compensation in the future. The FOP has some balls entering into an agreement with the city concerning this matter without even consulting the people that were in the program to begin with. Then trying to order the P.O's to agree to it.
****************************
Fellow P.O.'s if you were placed on BIS or Personal concerns and recieved a letter in the mail pay attention. DO NOT SIGN THE AGREEMENT! It is the City and the FOP's way of trying to mislead us and not have any responsiblity for their actions. REPEAT DO NOT SIGN THE AGREEMENT!

*******************************

A move taken by the FOP that can't be compared to any other in history. Asking it's members to sign off on an agreement made by JUDAS (Donahue) and the city. And release them from any liability. Insulting to it's members, they really must think we are all morons.

What is the modern day version of 13 pieces of silver?
Who knows, but this is a huge rear entry to any one involved.

The lines have clearly been drawn, the city and FOP are on one side and the BIS officers are on the other, now what are you going to do, I know what I'm doing. "Lets get it on come on"

This mumbling motherfucker has the gall to complain about OTHERS being:

“Those who are rich and those who are in power always feel safe. Those who do not have the power do not feel safe. And that’s what they’re saying,”

and

“You cannot carry a gun into a federal building. You cannot carry a gun into a federal court. So, they’re setting themselves aside. They’re saying to the rest of America that the answer to all of the constitutional issues is that we can carry guns. I just don’t understand how they came to this thinking. I’m very, very disappointed.”

What's all this shit about "they"?

You stuttering prick cocksucker, YOU are THEY.

This certified liar also said:

"If [the justices] think that's the answer, then they're greatly mistaken. Then why don't we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West, you have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle it in the streets?"

What the fuck does he think isn't already happening?
Except for the fact that the 'good guys' are magically turned into criminals by the mere fact of exercising their 2nd Amendment RIGHT to defend themselves against authentic criminals, this fucking cowtown IS the wild, wild west.
At least in the 'Old West' EVERYBODY who chose to be armed, was armed, and the predators knew it.
In Daley's version of modern civilization, ONLY the predators, and the overworked, underpaid and routinely backstabbed police officers, are armed. (I include the strapped alderfucks in the category of PREDATORS, in case that wasn't obvious to some).

This piece of reelected shit also has the nerve to state:

“I have no problems with those hunting, gun collectors….But, how do you get a gun into your house? Does it fly in by a stork? You purchase a gun. You carry the gun in a car. You come to your home. And we’ve shown time and time again how many children have been killed in their homes by guns. Parents are away, they get the guns….The child takes the gun, runs out in the street, has an argument, comes back and shoots somebody.”

YOU have no problem? Like you are the final authority on whether or not YOUR 'subjects' are granted the 'privilege' of exercising their God Given Rights within the confines of YOUR domain?
Unfucking believable, even for mayor retard.

“The Supreme Court and Congress have no obligation to keep our country safe. It falls on the backs of mayors and local officials. That’s who say, ‘I want my street, my parks, my school, my church, mosque and synagogues — I want everything to be safe.’…They’re changing the rules….Why should we as a city not be able to protect ourselves from those who want guns in our society?”

"Ourselves"? This, spewing from between the lips of someone who has DOZENS of armed bodyguards covering his sorry ass 24/7, at a cost of MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars per year.

The only honest question is:

Why should we as a citizens not be able to protect ourselves from those who have guns, and use them to prey upon us, in OUR city? By whatever means we, as citizens, choose?

Answer that question, you piece of shit, mumbling liar.

The really scary thing about the SCOTUS decision is that it was 5-4!

That means there are 4 on the court who feel there is no 2nd Ammendment. That is SCARY.

Daley is going to pull out all the stops to fight this decision and he's going to piss our money away doing it.

He'll just hire his scum bag lawyers with our money and get his graft-viggorish in political contributions.

OT has anybody seen that "nutsack" lawyer MA State Rep. for Taunton, MA. a guy named Fagan saying how if mandatory sentencing of repeate sexual offenders is enacted (Jessicas Law formulated as a result of young Jessica Lundsford being raped and buried alive be a guy named Couey, a repeate sexual offender) it will result in "shitbird" lawyers like this Fagan relying on attacking the victim to get there scumbag client off?

Check it out on YouTube

www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq-NJ1YQu8M

Whatever happenend to presenting evidence and facts to prove the defendant was innocent? It's not a lawyers job to destroy a child (or any victim) on the stand if all the evidence points to there client.

To those lawyers that say it is your obligation to do whatever is necessary to get your client found innocent--Fuck Off.

If the evidence and facts prove otherwise the spirit of our laws do not give you the right to resort to badgering the victim to achieve a not guilty or aquittal that you could not otherwise achieve based on the facts and evidence.

Speaking of silly statements, on the WGN-Channel 9 noon newscast today, (27 June, Friday, 1212 hrs) Tom Skilling said "We have really been dodging bullets around here for the last couple of days!"

Hey Tom, you got that right, even though you were talking about thunderstorms, you could have been talking about Chicago's shoot-em-up start to the summer! Silly, silly, silly, just silly!

And hey, a shout out to the liberals in town, Jesse Thiefson, Father Phlegm, and the Fake Preachers, this is how you wanted it, now enjoy it. Let the criminals shoot it up! And someday, when every law abiding citizen can wear a sidearm in public, and crime plummets, what will you and Mayor Goofy say then?

And Mayor Mumbles, you protect yourself with handguns and have for years. Do you even notice the handguns toted by the detail of policemen you have surrounding you every minute of the day? What is good for you, is good enough for the rest of us, too! You are a first class asshole Mr. Mayor.

---------------------

Doesn't matter what the people think.

We have the right. Period. Who cares what public opinion is.

The Constitution is not a living-breathing document. It is a contract.

The founders felt self-defense was a God-given right. They only included it in the Constituion to "re-iterate" it.

No-one can take away that right.

We can't even "contract" it away.

just as we can't contract away other things.

Do you know what frightens me Mr. Mayor? That criminals carry guns and that I cannot. It frightens me that police are minutes away when I need them, but I guess you don't worry about that since you are surrounded by armed guards. It frightens me that if I need the police, the offender that attacks me or my family won't give me the chance to call 911, and certainly won't stick around and wait to be arrested. It frightens me that our court system is so liberal that even if the offender is caught nothing will happen to him anyway. It frightens me that the criminals are looked upon with pity and their actions are excused, while I am held to the highest standards possible with no one supporting me.

Fuck you Dick Jr. for placing my family in jeopardy all these years.

OK, I hope someone passes this on to Richie.....

Or maybe the worthy, working press might have the balls to ask...

1. Mr. Mayor, you said this will cost more money for building security and the costs for the medical/healthcare end of the shootings. Where did you get that data in dollars and cents?....and why will there need to be increased security for buildings when the 2nd ammendment is not about carrying a weapon in public but keeping one in your home?......
2. Shootings are WAY up WITH the gun ban. How do FOID carrying, legal responsible people increase shootings? Do you have data to back that up?...
3. Compared to the healthcare cost associated with illegal aliens (in Chicago alone) receiving FREE services on the back of taxpayers, how can the concern be greater for shooting victims costs?.... Isn't the cost of illegal alien healthcare MUCH higher?...Got data to dispute that?...Where's the concern for that astronomical cost?......
Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Mayor, we can't talk about that because that would offend the latino community and it would just be bad politics. It would cost you votes. Which means you would have nothing to reign over anymore.
3. Can you point out one time...just one time you have not played chicken little at a press conference when things don't go your way?... It is offensive to the educated population who hear you ramble with scare tactics and no hard data to back it all up.
4. Final question Mr. Mayor. Why would you spend millions of dollars to send lawyers to fight your gun ban, which does violate the US Constitution?....Repealing ammendments in the US Constitution?...What next, take away free speech?.....
Get out of the limo and meet REAL people Richie. That goes for your aldermen and women too. The scare tactics are the worst I have ever heard. At least prepare yourself before you stand up there talking out your blowhole.

What you lack, buddy, is imagination and the entrepreneurial spirit.

What these 'decent' people will need is TRAINING.

Training in the physical handling of their newly purchased handgun(s), training in the maintenance and upkeep of said self-defense tools, training in the mindset required of anyone intending to 'keep and bear arms', training in the legal aspects of the use of firearms as the deadly part of deadly force, both criminal and civil, training in the strategies needed to prevent those newly acquired handguns from being stolen, taken from their trembling hands, misused by those common residents known as offspring, accidently discharged or otherwise inappropriately operated, etc., etc., etc..

And who do you think might be best capable of providing said training?

Opportunity is knocking.

Hey if Daley thinks he can bulldoze a city airstrip in the middle of the night, build a museum in Grant Park even though the law says he can't, you better believe he is going to ignore any second amendment upheld by the Supreme Court. City Hall believes they are above the law.

Who will be running against Daley the next election? I'm praying someone starts a grass-roots campaign now (no aldershits, stroger, jessie, revs, or blago-connected clods) to get this guy out of office once and for all.

I would consider voting for any alderman who stands up to Daley (the one who doesn't want the children's museum comes to mind).

Holy let me share a vision of the future Batman!!!

I know the handgun ruling is a shocker to some who might not believe that the court made a great decision.

Let me say this...I spent most of my adult life in a career that opened the doors and windows of the lives of other people who suffered from violent crime, stupid mistakes and accidents caused by others. I completely understand a parent who loses a child or any person who loses a family member to gun violence, while in their grief, could not give two shits about the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment. Their vision of the future without that loved one has been destroyed. But, this issue goes far beyond their personal grief or the lack of vision of those who are against the right of individuals to protect themselves and bear arms.

My friends human nature and emotions transcend time. Yes, history can and does repeat itself. Love, hate, jealously, greed, and revenge are the same for people of the past as it is for us now and in the future. What has changed about the human condition is our technology and how it effects our social development, especially in the urban areas.

In knowing all this, the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is for self-defense, fight oppression and ensure freedom of the people to bear arms now and forever. Our Constitution is a collection of steps to ensure our freedoms and the government is designed with inherit separation of powers to be a democratic process that serves it’s people. It is not perfect, nothing is. Every aspect of the basic principles needed as determined by our founding fathers at the time were put in place to ensure our continued freedom and the life of our country. Not just words, a vision of what is needed to ensure freedom. Human nature cannot ever be trusted with absolute power or control over the people.

Violence will never disappear, don’t fool yourself your entire life can change in a heartbeat.
Look at all the world leaders of today. Many of them can easily rise to power and be another Hitler or worst. Perhaps a radical terrorist muslin? We know that religious wars can last hundreds of years. Situations and conditions can change attitudes over night, I haven’t forgotten 911 and how it changed people. I haven’t forgotten how this war has changed us too. One day we can be friends and the next, enemies. People will continue to kill other people. Countries will continue to conquer other countries.

We, our government will make adjustments to this handgun ruling. People had guns long before I was born and people will still have them long after I am dead. And yes, idiots with no criminal records who are not mentally retarded will play with their guns at home and at parties. And yes, stupid fights will break out and people will bring their guns and kill each other. Guess what? It already happens now. Making handguns legal ain’t going to change much. Or will it? Perhaps more procedures, restrictions, ordinances and laws will be put into place to address all of these issues that many of you raise.

I do not fear guns. I fear people with good intentions who want to take my gun away from me for no justifiable reason making false conclusions that they can prevent crime and violence by doing so.
I also fear criminals who want to victimize me because the good people disarmed me. The police cannot protect me 24/7 and I don't need them if society will let me protect myself and my neighbors.

Coupla thoughts - those of you with a greater understanding may be able to shed some light.

1st - at roll call the other day good ole JJ put out an order stating that effective immediately that every month the officer with the most 'legal' weapons recovered ( I found that part pretty funny ) could choose what specialized unit they wanted to go to. Buncha bullshit, I know. But - it's in complete contradiction to an order he put out a few months ago basically stating that the officer with the most weapons recovered would be put in the BIS program. Anyone else recall this? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

More importantly. With this Supreme Court ruling and Daley making the typical ass of himself that he does stating he would fight it, wouldn't making a UUW arrest put us in direct violation of the 2nd ammendment (yes, I'm aware we pretty much have been for some time) & leave us to be liable and sued along with the City in Federal Court?

Not looking to get flamed here, and hope my question makes sense. I tried reading the ruling and went cross-eyed 5 minutes into it.

Daley, like every other worthless piece of shit that slithered into the public eye is only concerned about one thing, personal survival.

He don't give a shit if the M1's kill each other, and he don't even attempt to go after their illegal guns.

No...he's concerned about the average white guy getting pissed off about how much he's fucked up Chicago, and taking matters into his own hands to rectify the situation.

Dear Mayor Dick Daley II,

I am writing to inform you that I am against your decison to continue to empower criminals and penalize honest hard working Americans.

I also am asking for your resignation. I do not support what you stand for. You are no longer deemed fit to perform your duties. You should listen to the people and not the voices in your head.

You honestly believe that crime will rise? are you kidding me. You've been in office so long that it appears that your judgment has become impaired beyond common understanding/sense.

Where is your wisdom? Lay off the booze.

How can you explain the past two decades of illegal gun violence since your city ordinance has been in effect?

Federal law trumps your ordinance(s). Meaining, you lose! You are a sore "loser".

It seems to me that you are so upset because there may be a hidden agenda somewhere. Are you afraid or unity. Or is it that you feel empowered somehow by keeping the citizens of Chicago at your mercy.

Remember that Judement begins at the pulpit. Hopefully you will open your eyes and right the wrong before it is too late.

I think that you know that this is only the beginning.

The people want justice! and in the end justice shall be served.

Yes, no and maybe.

1. Yes, if the only alleged 'offense' is possession of an object declared prohibited to possess under the authority of a now decided unconstitutional statute.

2. No, if the alleged offense is violating a statute not now determined to be unconstitutional.

3. Maybe, as in, who the fuck can predict the future with any degree of reliability.

4. CYA

Training/Education.

Training in the mechanics of not only gun handling and maintenance, but defense of self, family and home.

Training in the morals and ethics of living a life dedicated to doing harm to no other and to not allowing others to do harm to you and yours.

Training in the perils and effects of laws, whether criminal or civil, relevant to the use of force, deadly or less than deadly, in the defense of self.

Training in the sometimes believed to be obvious, and yet, often everything but obvious, realities of human nature/behavior.

Training in the essential differences between being thoroughly honest and being less than thoroughly honest to being totally dishonest.

While religions, and religious principles, have fallen, for some, into disrepute, there is an essential reason for their authentic inception, to wit:

Peaceful and beneficial coexistence within the real life interactions of this species of living beings we call humans. Aka survival. Balance. Coexistence. Synergy within an environment of conflicting interests, by the compelling forces of common interests.

Common sense is not so common anymore. That's the rub.

OK, gently speaking, you need to work on the reading comprehension thing. It says, "lawfully recovered" guns. In one period. After tabulation, if you are the overall leader, we now check you medical, disciplinary record. Once your "certified", you get your choice of Gangs, Drugs, Vice, Assets and will be DETAILED! After your there 90 days, watch out.

I agree that the 14th Amendment is the justification for applying the Bill of Rights to the states, in spite of the fact that the First Amendment specifically says "Congress shall make no law..." On the other hand I don't believe that the Court has yet applied all of the Bill of Rights to the states. I am pretty sure the Third does not affect the states, and the Second arguably did not until Heller. In any event, they did the correct thing the other day!

Holy What to do Batman!!!

A very good question, now that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of individuals having handguns in their homes. I would hope that the Police Department's Legal Affairs Unit will come up with some guidelines quickly. I know that's asking a lot. Maybe too much.

I would suggest this to my fellow officers- ask for a supervisor for guidance. I would recommend that if your involved in a situation where a handgun is in the home (no crime alleged other then possession), and the weapon is most likely not registered, or the owner has no FOID card I would recommend an arrest or a weapons turn-in under the circumstances.

The ruling did not say the State(s) could not regulate persons who have handguns (felons and mentally ill). Therefore, anyone without a FOID card should not get a break unless it is a weapons turn-in.

Any crime alleged with the gun with or without a FOID card, register or not. Make an arrest and inventory the weapon.

If no crime is alleged, owner has a FOID card but gun not registered you will have to evaluate your probable cause to determine if your contact with the person and weapon is justified in making an arrest. The ordinance is still in effect until the appellate court determines it's status, cause you know this is going to take sometime.

two things: 1)my favorite was jesse jackson on the tv proclaiming the city of chicago doesn't have to adhere to the supreme court ruling. he urged the mayor to disregard it. so we have to adhere to civil rights decisons he favors but not one a majority of citizens favor? is that it? i can only say as a private citizen i would really appreciate it if the mayor, luis guiterrez, board commisoner maldanado (the latter two in the parole camp for the killer of Terry Loftus) would be as outraged that killers of CPD officers are coming before the PRB seeking release from prison. these are C class inmates sentenced under indeterminate sentencing guidelines to in some cases centuries in prison. in the case of sharp, veal, luckey, bacino etc, these shitheads are illegal gun users and trying to get out after about 30 years served. you hear NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING from these asswipe politicans about this issue. WHY THE HELL NOT?? why isn't the mayor, his dumbass outraged that we have to BEG the PRB every year to keep these jag bags in prison? mayor, are you reading me? it would be easier to keep THEM locked up than to trample my right to keep firearms in my house to protect it, my family and sport shoot. keep violent criminals in prison. law abiding gun owners don't shoot cops, they don't shoot up the street and they don't keep loaded guns under mattresses so little kids can find them. 2) it would be niece if scc cop could have a thread about who is coming up for parole. the PRB does not publish as far as i know hearing schedules for the public. (because they really don't want the public in the way)some of us want to be in the way. i want to be in the way of bruce sharp EVER being released from prison for starters.
