Was this a off duty Chicago officer who apprehended these guys? If so why do stories like this get buried???
A Chicago man has been charged with burglary for allegedly posing with two other men as Water Department employees to enter the South Side home of a 93-year-old man and rob it.
Walter Miller, 51, of the 3000 block of West Fullerton Avenue, was charged Tuesday night with residential burglary, according to police.
Miller and two other men knocked on a door in the 10400 block of South Whipple Avenue wearing green hard hats and identifying themselves as Water Department employees, according to a release from police.
The men told the elderly resident they needed to shut off a valve in his basement. An off-duty police officer observed the men on the porch and saw their white van in front of the home, police said.
The man allowed the three men into his home, where Miller distracted him in the basement while the two others remained upstairs ransacking a bedroom, police said.
The offenders then left the home, one fleeing on foot and the other in the white van. The off-duty police officer apprehended Miller when he left the home, police said.
Police are still searching for the two other offenders and did not have a description Thursday evening.

A "group of brains" is a stretch. The group does exist. Look at the daily bulletin they have a job opening for "project manager" or some other bullshit. Take a look at who this group reports to and figure out the nonsense that comes from this "think tank". Headed by the mayor's lap dog Masters, this group came up with the "back to the beat program", which is a cast off from the days of Mauer - a plan which was scrapped because it violates the current contract. But this "think tank's" answer to that is "what contract?" - have your grievance forms at the ready boys and girls. This is the group that also recommended that recruits ahould have to pass a swimming test, as it is not hard enough already to keep qualified people. Why don't we just identify those in the academy with enough clout to possibly get into the marine unit one day a make them pass the test, otherwise, a complete waste of time. And they eye candy is the broad from 23 who met jfed on the street and introduced herself from an earlier post. She will go far, a la engstrom and biggane. Some things never change.
In addition, jfed does not make a move without the OK from Masters or double O idiot bond...we are as doomed as doomed can be.
