Revisiting Fake IDs
We covered this item a few years back during the infancy of the blog:
- The father of a Chicago alderman faces prison and deportation to Mexico after pleading guilty Tuesday to taking part in a conspiracy to sell fake identification documents in the Little Village neighborhood.
Elias Munoz, 63, owned the photo business that prosecutors say was at the local center of a ring that made millions of dollars selling fraudulent IDs.
Munoz, the father of Ald. Ricardo Munoz (22nd), admitted to U.S. District Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer that he knew photos taken at his shop were used for bogus driver's licenses, Social Security cards and resident alien cards.
Nice to see that justice will be served eventually. We also asked a bunch of questions back then that still haven't been answered. We've even come up with a few more:
- Munoz's mother was arrested back in the late 1990's for the same thing at "Foto Estudio Munoz." She was detained for a number of hours until the alderman called and got someone to spring her. Why wasn't this stopped years ago?
- The Tribune ran an article or series of articles on the latin king street gang providing protection to these illegal ID sellers. The number we remember was $35,000 a week in protection money. Munoz's parents make fake IDs in a criminal enterprise protected by the latin kings. How big a leap is it to speculate that Munoz is the latin kings aldercreature? We'd certainly be digging around in his political donors list and any "loans" he got from mom and dad. Not that there's any shame in that - old man Daley was the pull behind the Hamburg club and we can name more than a few aldercreature beholden to the gangster disciples and vice lords.
- Has anyone looked into the fire three years ago that destroyed the "Boston Club" on 26th and St. Louis? It also destroyed a little shop called "Foto Estudio Munoz" and years worth of business records.
Not that we don't believe in coincidences. They happen with astonishing frequency, especially in Chicago.

Mexico ain't a bad place to retire too. Perhaps the alderman needs some motivation to return to the mother land and renew his ethic heritage with his father. Crime walks hand and hand. And being a career politicians has the same meaning as a career criminal in a suit with a silver tongue.

Many years ago 010 had a 3 man car
that worked in civvies and their only job was to put a stop to the
MICA sellers working out of the mall at 26th and Albany.They did such a good job that the feds even came down to work with them and see how it was done.They were locking up some of the main suppliers of phony IDs and confiscating thier printing and copying equiptment.They brought in tons of blank SS cards,blank DLs from every state,they did such a good job in a short amount of time
that a call came from downtown that disbanded them and put them back in a beat car.It was no secret in 010 that MUNOZ had a piece of the action.Chicagp politics at its best.

It's Homburg Club. Read "American Pharaoh" or even better, "Boss" by Mike Royko. Royko actually went out and talked to coppers who worked the 1919 race riots. The Homburgs had a good reputation with a brick. Your idea of a street gang probably doesn't encompass the quaint days of yore when everyone didn't have a gun. They were "athletic clubs" back then, but their behavior was eerily similar.
the 010th dist used to have a team that worked on the mica cards ( fake ID's) but after it started to make busts and some raids that produced alot of cash and equipment, blank SS cards, blank california Dl's, computers. The team got dumped because of political pressure.
you can go to 26 / sacremento and get a fake DL/SSN and bogus credit card today nothings changed.

It kind of reminds me of Cheech & Chong's movie, were Cheech & Chong were hiding from the imigra while the rest of the family were being deported. Cheech said his family wanted to go back to Mexico for a family party, so they call the imigra on themselvs to get a free ride.
Munoz father probably pleaded guilty to get his free ride back home!

You should be REQUIRED to speak english to gain citizenship to the USA.

Charges don't mean squat against these people. When the day comes maybe 4 or 5 years down the road that I hear this guy was sentenced to any actual time, and not time served, THEN I'll believe he got what he deserved.

He went on about what a travesty the arrest was and how his father had done nothing wrong. What say you now, you phony prick. He walked over to the mega mall on Milwaukee ave he then returned to the desk to post his new pretty license.The desk personnel laughed their asses off, told him show it to the judge when he went to court. We in the 14th dist had standing orders not to mess with the mega Mall from Commander mambo king J,V. Truth be told

Another respected alderman under investigation. Maybe Munoz will question Weiss at the city council hearing. Mayor is quiet when aldermen are investigated. Or when a alderman changes a gun law for his benefit. Double standard. What if Weiss actually could take off his gloves and question aldermen about their activities?

I remember hearing from individuals in the Little Village community that Munoz was and possibly could be tied to the organization....

Years past Ald Munoz was always walking with a group of Latin Kings. I had the pleasure of locking him up. Check his rap sheet. Retired and proud !!!!!!!!
You CANNOT get a bogus ID/DL/Green card/SS card/credit card at 26 and Sacramento. True, there still are 3 other crews selling docs, but I have it on good authority that they are not going unnoticed.
