From the media regarding the shooting where an armed 16-year-old offender pointed a weapon at police:
- "He was a good kid . . . he just needed a little guidance," Arnold said. "He fell behind the wrong crowd and he just did some wrong things. But we all make mistakes, and he didn't deserve for the Chicago police to take his life. He didn't deserve it . . . he was just a regular kid."
Arnold drove to the scene of the shooting on Saturday to see it for himself.
Although police said they found a gun nearby, Arnold said [Martinez] Winford was not known to carry a weapon.

You can bet that they won't be there much longer. Also, save the URL. same kind of stuff goes on in milwaukee as in our fine city. was on water street (milwaukee's division street) having a few at the taverns when the whole street and bar scene was shut down due to many fights taking place. asked one of the officers what was going on cause i never had a problem here. officer said that the city just closed down a bunch of bars on the city's northside, which is the same as our southside. these bars were home to many honor roll students who now had to go elsewhere. much like our lincoln park area, these fine folks have invaded water street. since this started happening, 10 squads and units of foot patrol are assigned to this area which is approximately 2 blocks long. fights every weekend and shootings have occurred. it doesn't matter where you go, the media-loved innocent honor roll student will rear his ugly head and ruin what was once a nice fun part of the city. stay safe

Absolutely! I was not stressed out with taking out a jag that first shot at me. I was stressed out and scared about the level of common sense in the supervisors and investigators that might show up to handle this investigation.
Thank God for the investigative competence of the team that handled my shooting.

I have a question for you? Almost all of the crime in the black community is committed by blacks and your victims are blacks. Why is it you don't care about your own people. When I write a case report in the black community my victim and offenders are always black, (I have 23 years on)yet in the white community my offender is 95% of the time black. I don't know what the heck the long gun in his right hand in the first photo is, but its not an AK47. I'm not even sure what it is. I enhanced it and played with it a bit and I think it in fact *is* a toy. It could be some exotic breach loading shotgun I'm not familiar with stripped metal and sandpapered wood. But if I were a betting person, I'd bet "toy". The pistol in his left hand looks like a small cal. revolver. It could be a starter pistol. It could be the same object in another photo which looks far larger and more menacing. And the comment from an 'instructor' about how good his grip is, is obviously wrong on the surface. (Not "weaver/turret" - granted it is a revolver, but he's 16 and isn't trained) Obviously he was exposed to some good john wayne movies as a kid otherwise he would have held it 'gangsta'. (And 'peeps' to all you shark lawyers who are circling wanting that big paycheck for that family and watching this blog, I'll make it easy for you. I'm "bdh@speakeasy.net")
If I was on a 'man with a gun call' and someone pointing *anything* like anything in the photos on the mope's home page at me, I'd have done my best to obey the first commandment of being a peace officer - return home alive from your shift. I'd have shot the little shite as many times at the central body mass as I could get off until I ducked behind something solid to reload. I'd like to think by training that I did the "The Mozambique Drill" - two taps to the mass and one carefully aimed to the head in case of body armor. But I'm beginning to think that urban police should be trained on a modification, a sequence of one one handed Point Shoot from a fast draw, one two handed shot at the body mass from a Weaver and then a carefully aimed two handed shot at the head. "shock and awe, hit, and kill".
Do them before they do you, and by all means practice on the one thing that will save your life in a gun fight even if its on your own coin. No matter what they train you, its better than the mopes, they ain't got no place to practice, you do.
