If I Didn't Pee, You Must Set Me Free!
A Chicago alderman arrested on drunken driving charges early this morning insists she was not drunk — and says she was berated by three Chicago Police officers who yelled at her and refused to give her their badge numbers.
As proof of her sobriety, Ald. Sharon Dixon (24th) said she never used the bathroom once during her seven hours at at North Side police station. She also said she believes officers arrested her because she was “going to write them up” for “mistreating” her.
And now, we get to see how J-Fed deals with an alderdrunk interfering with an active police investigation:
On the day the City Council approved the appointment of Jody Weis, Ald. Sharon Dixon (24th) vowed to give Chicago's $310,000-a-year police superintendent "the benefit of the doubt until you prove otherwise." Now, Dixon is about to put Weis to the test.
Dixon said Wednesday she plans to press her case with Weis about the "abusive" treatment she received from two female police officers and their male back-up during an inauguration-night altercation in Rogers Park that resulted in the alderman's arrest.
Then there's the whole "going to write them up" for "mistreatment." Is this some secret aldercreature power that we aren't aware of? This sounds like a contract violation if such a system exists. Isn't IPRA good enough for the alderdrunk's complaint? That's all the citizens have - maybe if they were able to "write up" coppers for "mistreatment," then we could all go back to our fuzzy bunnies and pink ponies and live in harmony.
Good god J-Fed, this idiot is giving you half a dozen opportunities to stand up, be your own man and demonstrate that you won't tolerate interference by politicians into police matters. Of course, your continued silence and the silence of your minions is telling the rank and file exactly how much you've "got their backs." if by chance this incident was captured on video......and she acted like a fool....the city would NOT release the video.
A person could use a BAC machine to provide evidence to a case in court instead of claiming not to have used the bathroom.
However, I don't know if there was a refusal in chemical testing. That said, 100% of time I have a DUI arrest and someone does not blow they are guilty due to short breaths or a plain refusal. The word is out to the public, never submit to testing.
I feel we need a police spokesman to say "if you weren't under the influance, why not submit to testing" "all the statements made by "whoever" has only increased my belief that the officer's acted accordinly to the law"
But remember as a blue shirt on the street. We are on our own. The dept at every chance throws us under a bus without support, and they want us to risk everything.
They don't get it, not at HQ not at the DC meetings. Its not risking our lives, or money for the working copper. It is back-up. It's not just hoses.....it's the living, breathing human being firefighters at the end of the hoses. Driving over any of those pressurized hoses might make them fail leaving our friends, the firefighters, in a deadly blaze with hoses without water, thereby sentencing them to certain death. Karma is a wonderful thing. I'm sure Dannye W. secretly wished something like this would happen as the freshman alderman dunped him from the beat he so successfully patrolled for all those years...only to get launched onto the south (hispanic) part of the district. Yet, when pushed for a comment, he NEVER spoke badly about the alderman, the supervisor who was on the scene who never went to bat for him, the watch commander who allowed an effective street copper to be abandoneded or the District Commender (now Assistant Superintendent of Administration) who cowtowed to the upper eschelon of the CPD that demanded his blatently illegal dumping for purely political reasons.
Let's see......the Alderwoman felt that she had every right to celebrate President Obama's ascension to power (I agree with her.) She went to one of the local galas and had a great time. So far, no problem...it's only the police officers of the city that can't be intoxicated on or off duty. She tied one on and took the chance of driving herself home only to discover that her car was being blocked by the police department that she believed SHE'S SUPERIOR TO and ordered them to get out of her way and when the cops discovered she'd been drinking they DUI'd her. Forget Mike Ditka, Walter Jacobson, suburban judges, etc who've excercised bad judgement and have driven while impared, she was going to "write up" cops for doing their duty. Sorry, Ms. Dixon, no one is above the law.

whether j-fed closes 2 districts or not. we're currently budgeted for 13,500. we really need about 15,000 to take back the streets. we're currently at just under 10,000 (FACT). in 2009 he's hiring 200 but promoting 208 that puts us at 9,992. Now take into consideration the anticipated 500-600 coppers retiring (+ a couple more unforseen incidents = firings, deaths, indictments, etc) that puts us close to 9,200 or so. This is fucking insane. And all J-Fed and Mayor Dumbass tell the public is that they are oh so concerned about public safety. Nott!
Closing districts is only going to let them paper shuffle and smooze the public with numbers and graphs like they always do. Nothing changes other than putting the citizens of this fine city and the lives of its great police force at risk and in uneccasary harms way.

Well maybe you live too far from work. I live in 22, work in 5, and I find plenty of time to do things in the morning. I work 1600-0300, so two hours longer. Thing is, almost 3 or 4 days a week I would be out that late, an arrest, a beer after work, what have you.
Still have time, and enough sleep to get up with the kids for school, get a work out in, and a nap if needed, and run errands during the day too. Then, after just having four days off, I am more willing to go back to work and start it all over.
It works for me, sorry it does not work for you, but maybe you live too far from the ditrict you work in. We have guys in 5 that live in 8, and I know it sucks for them, but they like the 10 hour days too. Just think, if it went citywide, you could bid to a district closer to work and get the same benefits I am enjoying right now.
Keep an open mind.
Jfraud or IPRA had better not even talk to this drunken buffon until she signs an affidavit so the officers can sue her drunken ass when she makes her false statements.

LA polices more people with less officers.
NY police department has more people, but provides WAY more services than this joke department.
Chicago has about 5,000 officers whose job description has nothing at all to do with any aspect of police work. These 5,000 officers are basically secretaries who move paper and answer phones. Only about 10% of these people are even needed.
On top of that, Chicago has about 3,000 additional "police officers" who are assigned to do police work, but don't. 0% of these people are needed.
Chicago has about 2,000 managers/supervisors and only 25% of them are really required to get the job done.
Then, there are about 2,000 officers who basically do all the police work in the city.
Low staffing is not the problem. The problem is there are too many hideouts in this department.
FIRST, To those that are saying she'll be convicted in court, you are obviouly not the police or have no experience with the courts in Crook County, the motion of fix is already in.
SECOND, King Richie was still in DC giving the new Messiah his marching orders and telling Bahama where to steal from.
THIRD, Jody the goof, doesn't know what to do because Daley is out of town and hasn't told him how to respond yet.
The only thing thats going to happen here is the coppers and Sgt. will get screwed around until a deal is reached, wherein she gets off, agrees not to sue the city and the police involved will have to eat some shit.

Dixon is claiming that she didn't pee the entire seven hours that she was "hooked to a wall", which means that the pussy Watch Commander did not make her hit the lock-up! We don't like it either - in the position of lowly citizen..what can we do? We can't own guns to defend ourselves, can't carry 'em either. Farrell probably would of put her in the lock up, but he is being forced out in two months and has nothing to lose. He is one of the best minds on the police dept. and it is a shame they are not using him to his full potential. Which is surprising because he is just as big a micro manager as most of the exempts, but he has the experience and personality to back it up, but those under him need to know they can handle their business because unfortunatley he won't be there forever.

If someone doesn't have an insurance card and they are drunk DOES NOT mean you can charge them with a felony. You've obviously never done a DUI. You write them a ticket for no insurance. If they don't give a verbal statement that they had no insurance then you can't go for the felony upgrade. If they say they have insurance but they don't have the card, then it's a misdemeanor. Write the ticket. When misdemeanor court time rolls around if they can't prove they had insurance when the dui occured then the ASA can upgrade it to a felony.

Chicago has about 5,000 officers whose job description has nothing at all to do with any aspect of police work. These 5,000 officers are basically secretaries who move paper and answer phones. Only about 10% of these people are even needed.
On top of that, Chicago has about 3,000 additional "police officers" who are assigned to do police work, but don't. 0% of these people are needed.
Chicago has about 2,000 managers/supervisors and only 25% of them are really required to get the job done.
Then, there are about 2,000 officers who basically do all the police work in the city.
Low staffing is not the problem. The problem is there are too many hideouts in this department.

Obviously you never worked for Farrell. I worked for him at A/5 and A/4 and he Always had your back and he always let you be the detective. He would constantly fuck with Steve Peterson (who was a Sgt. in A/4 on days at the time). 024 only has a male lock-up, all females are moved to 019 after the arrest report is approved, the offender is trans to 019 for prints and detention.
As for not hitting the lock-up, I have no clue, but it goes along with normal procedures with processing female arrests.

You know what I find amazing? The City's offer to the Firefighter's Union in contract negotiations included a clause that stated any fireman, paramedic officer, etc., arrested for DUI, even off duty, be terminated from their employment.

It will be the same for us. Being able to drive is a requirement for our employment and even if they don't suspend your license, the new law requiring a breathalyzer to be installed on your vehicles will prevent us from driving a city vehicle unless one is installed.
Believe it or not I've heard P.O.'s in Chicago use the term "badge" refering to their star. Even in court testimony.....

obviously the results of our sringent hiring practices in recent years - college degree, zero intelligence, zero street smarts (when you grow up in a cul-du-sac in the 'burbs), zero work-ethic, and an expectation that you are owed something...
ps 'sringent' should have obviously been spelled as 'stringent', but I couldn't find the correct WORD program while I was typing my response, and didn't want to waste any time...seeing that I have wasted enough time taking this job opportunity years ago under what I will say were false pretenses...it is not the same - if you take it now, you are not 'smart'...

First of all there are very few workers in 002 on 1st watch. 2nd he would prefer to do every thing himself, he may look for input but in the end it always turns out the way he wants it. Which is probably because he is correct, but when he is gone people will be forced to think for themselves without Farrell to fall back on. Micro-manager has turned into a completely negative term and maybe it was not the correct way to describe Farrell. I have nothing but respect for the man and would never hesitate to call him for advice, but he coddles his people way to much and come April they are in for a rude awakening.
To those of you saying the charge has to be upgraded in court to felony...I apologize.... I don't know the BS rules you guys in Chicago have to follow because almost everything you do is under King Richie and the aldercreatures ordinances... Our Dept (in District #2 Cook County) do about 3 felony DUIs a month for no insurance and usually an additional 6 or 7 because of the driver not having a license..All of which are approved by the ASA on that night...not waiting for a court date upgrade...

019 is womens lock-up for area 3.
the lock-up does not cuff prisoners to the wall.
If she was cuffed to the wall, SHE WAS NOT IN A LOCK-UP other than for a few minutes for prints and photos!
She was apparently given the courtesy of waiting for her prints to clear while sitting in an interview room 'cuffed to the wall' instead of sitting in a cell with those Yucky, Dirty whores and dopers!
They charged her DUI and no insurance. Read 625 ILCS 5/ 11-501(d)(1)(I).... DUI with no liability insurance is a Class 4FELONY..
I believe the driver needs a previous DUI conviction.
Even better....I just got word of a DUI Strike force in Beverly-Mt. Greenwood tonight....Coincidence???

Chicago has about 5,000 officers whose job description has nothing at all to do with any aspect of police work. These 5,000 officers are basically secretaries who move paper and answer phones. Only about 10% of these people are even needed.
I do agree there are too many armed cocksuckers(secretaries).
Just look at Roy's gals (and guys) in 009!! What a joke of a district. It is time for a "CHANGE".

What I find rather amusing about the whole situation, She obviously talked herself into getting locked up. Wasn't she sent on her way and then just had to come back and get in the officers faces, thereby forcing them to smell her breath?
perhaps she wears depends and went pee pee in her panties.
