Gee, who'd have thought the mayor and his cronies would ever try anything illegal?
Mayor Daley is pulling the plug on his controversial plan to end the free ride for 135,000 Chicagoans who get their cable TV by installing a satellite dish.
Daley quietly introduced a repeal this past week of the ordinance tied to his 2009 budget requiring satellite customers to pay the 9 percent amusement tax that applies to monthly cable TV bills.
To get around a federal law that appears to ban cities from taxing direct-broadcast satellite services, Daley wanted to require DirecTV and Dish Network to give the city's Revenue Department the name, address and phone number of all of their Chicago subscribers so the city could do the billing.

Just like the propose no retro and salary increases is illegal!
You can not reward yourselves with over $150K salaries but then tell the blue shirts that only peanuts is available for the blue shirts!
This city will turn out to be like Berlin after WWII. It will be divided up among the conquerors and a big wall will be put around it to keep the people in.

Time out. John Morgan is only talking about what the problems in his area are. Why should he, his wife or his children have to leave their homes and see some goof urinating on his lawn or in an alley? He shouldn't. Nobody should. If anybody should get good Police service, it's people like John. Or people like us that live in Edison Park, Norwood Park, etc.,etc. People who go to work everyday, pay taxes and are generally an asset to the community. If you work in an area where gangs and drugs are the biggest problem, have at it. If you work in an area where pissers and bustouts are the biggest problems, then be the Police and take care of your Districts biggest problems. I've worked in places like 019,023 and am now working in one of the faster districts on the westside. Ya know what? We spend more time and waste more manpower on the people that hate us, sell dope, won't do anything to help themselves and generally make their own lives more miserable than we do in a nice area like where John lives. Why? Why are sending all these coppers from units like TRU,MSF, Saturation Teams, gang teams, tac teams to the south and west sides when we have people like John who probably do like and respect us, who probably would treasure a copper that works to clean up their neighborhoods? Get rid of the notion that your not the Police if your locking up pissers and bustouts or that your not the real police unless your coming in with guns and dope. I have alot of time on this job, worked in many different areas and I can tell you that there are some "real policeman" working in areas like 019 or 023. They understand what it means to be the real police. It's who you are, what you are and how you do it that defines the "real police. You work on whatever the problem of the community happens to be. If it's gangs and dopers, so be it. Bums and pissers,so be that.
Now John, as for you, it wouldn't hurt if you and people like your boss weren't so liberal. It's people like Vi (yes I know her) who contribute to your own problem. Be more supportive. Remember that those young urban youths that you guys think are so cute as they walk around your neighborhood are not that cute in reality but are in fact looking for victims. Get your head out of your arse and look around and smell the roses (not you perhaps but most of your constituents). Be a friend of the Police and tell this shithead of a Mayor to start treating his Police Officers like they deserve to be treated. Since when does fucking jagoff Daley care if something is legal or not?
Hired Truck; Meigs Field, bulldoze Bensenville, Robert Sorich, Al Sanchez, Don Tomczak, what the fuck, the list is almost endless.
He got caught by some attorneys who showed him how they would cost the city more in legal fees than the city stood to collect.
Two things would improve my day immensely: Daley getting indicted or Daley having the big one like the old man. I would of course rather see Daley suffer the humiliation of indictment and conviction.
There are way too many of the Daley clan still walking around ready to step in and take over should the opportunity arise. If this one goes the others are all around, they sprout up like weeds, ready to take over. Sort of like the English for hundreds of years.

Off topic. Has anyone actually looked at the charges on your electric bill. WTH??? I was gone 8 days in December. Unplugged everything, had few Christmas decorations up, and if they were turned on, it was a couple of hours on the weekend. Heat turned down to 63 and the fucking bill was $12.00 more even after being gone for 8 days. Cannot wait for the gas bill.

"Pissers and drunks" pretty much form Lincoln Park's entire tax base. It's not like there's any manufacturing going on there anymore. This "night life" -- the so-called "consumer spending" that now makes up two-thirds of the nation's economy -- is all you've got. Be grateful.

The problem is John when an officer goes to write one of these goofs an anov or physically arrest them and it turns to shit the liberals come out with cameras and ask why the police are picking on some poor guy just walking in the alley. Why risk getting into a confrontation where you might lose your job or get sued or end up in prison? The citizens have already decided what police force they want here in Chicago.

My ex-father inlaw, had a house in lincoln park and his tax bill was like 18,000 dollars a years for a 2200 sf house. YES 18 THOUSAND A YEAR.
He never complained about it though.
you can add up all the property taxes from all the homes in 7,11,15 and they still would not add up to only 3 blocks worth of homes in 018.
