Upcoming Fundraiser

Seen in the window of a uniform store, 4-year-old Sara Martorano is fighting cancer. She is the daughter of a Chicago cop and there is a fundraiser upcoming:
  • When: April 5th, 2009

    Where: Electrician's Hall
    600 W. Washington Blvd.
    Chicago, Il 60661

    Time: 2-7 p.m.

To make this benefit a success, we are asking for assistance with raffle prizes and donations.
Full info at the SaintsForSara.org website. The update last week said she's making good progress with the chemotherapy but there's still a ways to go.

Give!!!

What are we here for, if we are not here to help each other.

We help strangers everyday, without prejudice.

This is one of our own. A great guy who has one of the joys of his life in a time of need.

Give!!!

It all works out in the end...

Prayers to your little angel, JM.

Yes, he is Andy's kid.

Sara is a beautiful child with a beautiful family and I have never felt so much pain for them.

I wish no one has to be in this situation watching your child go through this and seeing your child sick, broken down and hurting.

A damn strong family with an even stronger support system. We as a community of brothers and sisters feel for them, hurt with them and pray for them.

If you don't know them, you should. A father who in my words is a hero, a mother who is strong, kind and a hero in her own right, two wonderful sisters that are so great and then there is Sara. A kind, gentle little girl, who did nothing to deserve such a horrible twist of fate.

We are here for you and your family, Brother!

Count me in. While traveling to work on my third day on the street I manage to on-view some sort of car chase, crash, and confrontation as I am entering the Kennedy Expressway near Sayre. A carload unloads with ball bats and are about to trim the other driver. I'm stopped directly in back of the goofs and boxed in from the rear by other cars. This still off-duty, third day on the street PPO, exits his automobile and holds five or six with their hands held high until a young kid runs from a bungalow across the street with phone in hand and summons help. Three hours later, so it seemed, 016 responds to the "10-1" and the real police take it off my hands. I get my first honorable mention for grabbing a wand waver doing his thing in front of Immaculate Conception School and Andy's kid gets my undying gratitude for running out of the house with the cordless telephone just as the goof with the bat is about to force my hand. Good kid from a good family. Hope everyone attends.

We have been going thru some medical problems with my daughter too, she has had to have 3 mri's of her brain, in just 6 mos. I was able to be in the room with her while the procedure was done (over 2 hours) and I cannot even explain how I felt... just seeing her in that machine, I was just shaking & crying the whole time & my baby is 23 years old!!! I can't even imagine what this family is going thru....God Bless them & Sara,my check is in the mail!!!
