FOP's Tim Fallon - RIP

  • It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that President Mark Donahue and the entire Board of Directors report that Financial Secretary, Timothy M. Fallon suddenly passed away today. Please keep the Fallon family in your prayers.
  • Visitation and funeral arrangements are not yet determined at this time. They will be posted when they become available.
Tim was co-chair of the Grievance Committee and helped many a copper at hearings. He will be missed.

Again, condolences only in this thread.

RIP TIMMY!

He was always "Good People" he helped any officer I sent his way when I was a Unit Rep.

I read on here it was a massive heart attack.

I just wish to express my condolences to his family, his FOP fraternal Brothers and sisters, and his police family.

Everyone please read you FOP newsletter. Just this month there was an offer for a Heart scan at heart scan of Chicago for those of us with the BC/BS PPO.

I called last week, they are filled up through April already. HOWEVER, you can ask to be put on a cancellation list. I did and a few days later they called me when someone else cancelled. I already had the scan. Its quick, painless, and the staff was great. They also check your blood for cholesteral, triglycerides, etc.

I was done in about an hour.

IN TIM's MEMORY lets all get our hearts checked, it's great peace-of-mind considering all the risk factors many of us have (smoking, lack of sleep, poor diet, stress, family history, etc.)

Do it for your families, do it for your partners, do it for your team members. JUST DO IT.

There are no "Do-overs" in life. Lets take care of ourselves & remember our friend TIM!

B.H.

Wow...
This was a shocker. First Risley, now Fallon. More proof to myself that I am further along in the Back 9 of Life than I would like to admit.

Tim Fallon was one of the most charismatic guys you would meet on this job. Just the sight of him put a smile on my face. Like you were always part of an inside joke, our inside joke, the CPD.

While Timmy was a rabble rouser, there are few I could think of that are more loyal to forwarding the patrolman's issues, and dedicated to making sure we had fun doing the job. He was a giant, he will be missed.

God Bless Julie and the Fallon clan.

Tim always helped. He was my go-to guy down there. He was one guy who would not merely read the contract to you out of the book.

He always took the time to give complete real world answers to contract questions and helped me out a lot. I learned over the years to depend on him exclusively on grievance and contract issues. I thought him abrasive at first but gradually got to really like and appreciate the guy.

He always returned calls and told me, "This is what we do for each other, we back each other up and help each other." How right you were Tim.

I was stunned to hear of his passing. Very sad news.

He will be missed.

He made himself available to me and the problems I had during my four year run as a unit rep. And we had a couple of good laughs too.

I am shocked and in disbelief. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim and his family.

This is unbelievable. CPD retirees should say a prayer for Tim.

I am a CPD Retiree. In August 2007, I was denied gun registration by the City after I attempted to register a weapon I had purchased to replace my malfunctioning firearm. I was in full compliance with HR214. I was put in touch with Tim, explained all of the facts to him and he immediately relayed the facts to the FOP Attorney's. Tim made sure that I received representation(Dan Herbert) at the Administrative Hearing and the Circuit Court. Through Tim's help, a new ordinance will become law on March 12th, eliminating what the City had tried to do to me.

The irony of this is that my family doctor suggested in January that I take a nuclear stress test. It disclosed 3 blockages ranging from 70-85%. Two weeks ago I had a triple bypass performed that probably saved my life or at least a stroke. I only had symptoms of a slight shortness of breath and a small family history. Bypasses, Angioplasty, and Stent surgeries are done by the hundreds everyday by cardio-surgeons. It's a very common procedure. Talk it over with your family doctor and get a referral and preapproval for testing. If the doctor won't agree to maybe "stretch" the diagnosis for preapproval, since we know how the insurance game is played, it might be time search for a new doc. Think of those you will be leaving behind. That is what I did.

Unfortunately, I can't leave home for the next 2 weeks while I rehab, but I will be saying prayers for Tim and his family.

R.I.P. Brother Tim

I have known Tim a long time. A true loss to the CPD, FOP, and the City of Chicago. My deepest sympathy to Julie and the Fallon family. I'll never forget when I pepper sprayed him by accident when we were bringing a prisoner to the lock up in 023. It's a funny incident and Tim was laughing after it happened. I along with the 23rd District will truely miss him. God bless you Tim. Julie, if you need anything just call us at 023 and you got it.

All my sympathy,
Lou Danielson, 023 2nd Watch.

Reminds me of the death of Wally Siemiak in 1987 or there abouts. Wally did the same thing that Tim was doing before he died. Only then, Wally had no help. Handling the grievances, the disciplinary hearings, the midnight shootings takes a toll that is unimaginable. I didn't know Tim but it takes a special person to do that job and from what I see in the comments, Tim was just such a person. R.I.P.

I am still in disbelief about this. I didn't have a chance to know Tim back in his wild days in 015 but the stories I've been told are hilarious. I knew him in his more recent years in 023 and then at FOP though and I have to say, he was definitely the kind of cop I aspired to be. Professional when he needed to be yet didn't take himself too seriously that he couldn't tell a good joke with lots of cussing! Julie, please know our prayers are with you at this most difficult time of your life. Tim will surely be missed but at least we got one of the good guys up there lookin down on us.
Rest in Peace Brother!
