As was thought by many, Roland Burris is most likely senile or approaching that time in his life. Another thought may be that Roland is as big a scammer as most pols in this state and county are. If his failure to mention the bribe attempt cannot be resolved, I suggest that Mr Burris be removed from his senate position and further embarass this screwed up state so that voters will finally kick some of these lifelong pols out of office in the next election cycle. It is a bit odd that in the middle of this huge Blago scandal about pay for play that good ole boy Roland "forgot" about a couple of attempts by Blagos brother to squeeze $10 large for a campaign donation. Silly, just silly!

Historically, most whites have supported both Daleys in all their runs.
Usually, Daley does pretty well in all wards, so there's really no sense at finger pointing.
you have to wonder how stupid someone has to be to lie about this kind of thing under oath, given that when he made the statements under oath he knew Blago had been wiretapped by the feds for some time, and that whatever he said would be scrutinized very closely for any inconsistancies.
And this silliness about filing affidavits after the fact with the impeachment panel, what is that? You lie under oath and then take it back?

Jon Burge was indicted for perjury based on the statements of convicted felons for incidents that might of happened 25 years ago.
If the Feds can do that, then it should be easy to indict and convict Roland Burris for perjury because the statements he lied about are on tape and occurred in the last two months.
Fitzgerald will not go after Burris because he will upset Bobby Rush and the gang!

That was paintful to view. Why oh why did he attempt or did his attorney allow him to accept questions. Make the statement and get the hell out of there. Sometimes you just need to know when to keep your mouth shut.
THIS white man has NEVER supported Richard M Daley or his father before him, I am old enough to have voted against Richard J Daley twice.
I didn't support the old man and I despise the son. And for quite a while I lived out in Edison Park.
It doesn't much matter though what people say they like or don't like about Daley. Real world fact is that barely 30% of voters even bothered to vote in the Mayoral election of 2007. What they say now is bullshit, what they did on election day is stay away from the polls.
That, more than anything, is why Daley got elected.
Most folks don't bother, and the machine is good at getting out loyalist voters to get the majority of the 30% of people who do vote.
Daley got 70% in 2007 of the 30% who bothered to vote.
In France the turnout in their last presidential election was 84%, say what you want, they get off their asses and vote. And in Australia voter turnout is way over 90%. Voting is mandatory in Australia.
But here in this great democracy, this bastion of freedom and corrupt political leaders, we get 30%-35% to actually vote.
Mostly we are lazy assholes more than willing to give a bullshit opinion to anyone who will listen but much less willing to go out to exercise the right that so many bled and died to preserve.
And we even have early voting to make it so convenient. Doesn't help much. Makes one wonder if all those sacrifices by so many brave young men was really worth it.

Doherty has a lackey on my job that sits and answers the phone all day. He's suppose to be doing construction work. He may as well be a democrat.
The Illinois Republicans should shut up until 2010. Burris is a gift that keeps on giving. They should help ensure he is on the statewide Democratic ticket next year.
The Republicans who are demanding that Burris resign should sit down, shut up, let the circus continue and consider him a gift. Burris' is the best precinct captain the Republicans have.
