No wonder Weis' SUV has tinted windows. Look for him to start wearing mirrored shades as well -- maybe a black hoodie too. How can he look anyone in the eye, when this is what the entire department thinks of him?

Even his cats laugh at him as soon as he leaves the room...

OFFICER DOWN

Another Philadelphia police officer has been gunned down in the line of duty, this time in an apparent shoot-out last night in front of the Olney Transportation Center.

Police late last night said Officer John Pawlowski, 25, whose wife, Kim, is expecting their first child, was wounded after he and his partner responded to a report of a "fight on the highway" on Broad Street near Olney Avenue.

Hug your loved ones a little tighter and give them an extra kiss before heading off to work this Valentines Day. You are not guaranteed a second chance. Rest in Peace Officer. Watch over your brothers from your place in Heaven.

What's in the stimulus package for cops. Hopefully we can get our contract now. See below:

The stimulus bill includes plenty of green for those wearing blue.

The compromise bill doles out more than $3.7 billion for police programs, much of which is set aside for hiring new officers.

The law allocates $2 billion for the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant, a program that has funded drug task forces and things such as prisoner rehabilitation and after-school programs.

An additional $1 billion is set aside to hire local police under the Community Oriented Policing Services program. The program, known as COPS grants, paid the salaries of many local police officers and was a "modest contributor" to the decline in crime in the 1990s, according to a 2005 government oversight report.

Both programs had all been eliminated during the Bush administration.

The bill also includes $225 million for general criminal justice grants for things such as youth mentoring programs, $225 million for Indian tribe law enforcement, $125 million for police in rural areas, $100 million for victims of crimes, $50 million to fight Internet crimes against children and $40 million in grants for law enforcement along the Mexican border.

Why hasn't the CPD kept the Vazquez family informed at to the investigation into the murder of Officer Vazquez?

Probably because they would have to admit that the investigating Dets. had the offender/s in custody but had to release them due to the gross imcompetance of several EXEMPT bosses who took it upon themselves to stick their EXEMPT noses into the investigation and destroy it.

They are still EXEMPT, by the way and growing more stupid by the day.

Word from a little inside political bird is that
she is expected to hold a very brief (Cline like) press conference
next week and resign. In addition, her husband Cmdr. O'donnell is also expected to put his papers in (voluntarily) - Bea's is a "forced" (Daley) resignation.

It doesn't matter if they are forced out or leave voluntarily they both have over three years as exempts and will retire with a combined pension of approximately 19K a month. So you see, it's a win win for them anyhow. No big loss with classless Bea but her husband is a class act and will be missed.

Not to knock Riccio, he is truly a good guy, but did he need to respond to that CRAP from Fox news on the radio? Wouldn't a simple "thank you all" note in the CO book read at all watches, or, for a personal touch, a visit by the boss to all of the roll calls on Friday have sufficed? Do we need to make such responses to CRAP NEWS REPORTING "public?" Think about it. There was minimal need for the public grandstanding that was put on over the air of zone 1 Friday night....especially for that CRAP NON-NEWS TABLOID BULLSHIT put on by Fox News.

SCC, I can't seem to see the Jib-Jab tonight...maybe so many people tried to access it, the website was overloaded...not surprised!

I have, after careful consideration, decided that I will boycott the annual St. Jude March/Parade this year, traditionally held on the 1st Sunday in May.

Last year was nothing less than a disaster in leadership for the CPD.
Change. More Change. Demotions, most of which made little sense.
The highest murder rate in Chicago in many years. We have become the laughingstock of the country, if not the world. I cannot, in good conscience, support such a vacuum in leadership as it exists in this Dept today by showing up in my normally spiffy dress Spring uniform and salute our worthless Supt. and his supporting morons at the Reviewing Stand. I just cannot bring myself to do it.

I have a heartfelt love and respect for this Dept., and our fallen. I donate $20.00 each paycheck to the CPD Memorial. I have no complaints about providing such support. I only wish I could give more, although occasionally, I have, through other fundraising endeavors. I have visited the Memorial many times...sometimes alone, other times with visiting family members from out of state, even a couple of times with my wife & children. I'm proud of the monument we've left to these brave heroes. Weis and Co. don't deserve our support; I for one have decided to make my non-appearance this year an official show of "No COnfidence" of Weis and his infamous inner circle. I will do just what the Mayor does; I'll sit this one out, and instead, attend church with my family that morning, offering prayers to the fallen. I call upon all who feel the same way to make their own vote of "no-confidence" of our bumbling Supt. felt by boycotting the March. We can do something at a later time on our own, but I won't salute them, and I won't march past them on the first Sunday in May. I promise to resume the Tradition when some form of competent leadership returns to the CPD. The ball's in your court, Mayor Daley. Time to admit this was a lapse in judgement on your part and handle this, and soon. You created this mess, time to straighten it out!

SCC IS A GREAT FORUM FOR THAT.
WHY NOT GET THAT STARTED,AND REPORT
BACK TO US. AND YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY
TOO, (FEZ).

**********************************

Fezzie,

Agreed in part. Although, I don't agree with the popular consensus on some topics, I do wholeheartedly understand and factor the reasons why some exist. On that note, this forum serves the excellent purpose of stress relief for officers, however, I'm not sure it boosts any reader's perception of the department, and in some cases makes employees feel even worse about what is going on around them. It is geared more toward the self-defeating purpose of pissing off the higher ups. There is a very mixed bag of messages that spotlight the mindsets associated with problems that exist which makes the immense responsibility of managing and problem solving an organziation as large as the Chicago Police Department more fascinating than experiencing the operation of any other large organization. I would love to report back to you on point and how to win friends and influence people, however, i'm not on your payroll. However, there are some great consulting agencies that could probably be retained to assist. That being said, any constructive criticisum kinda falls on deaf ears here and produces the response of namecalling anywa, which is about as far cooperation can go with some. Would not subject myself to the abuse. Mean people suck.
