Guess What?

The police sometimes put hands on people! It's the best known way of getting people to do what they are supposed to be doing!
  • You get on a bus;
  • You accost the driver and at least one passenger;
  • You refuse to pay the fare;
  • You are getting off the bus, one way or the other.
And that just may necessitate putting hands on a piss bum.

Fortunately, the vast majority of the comments over at the Slum-Times and Breaking News websites are supportive of the police. There are the typical liberal jackasses who think any time a cop puts hands on people, it's some sort of violation of their rights (it isn't). But by far, the comments are running in favor of the police.

Here's a bit of knowledge from an old downtown footman:
  • After dark, every bum down here has a knife
Even letting this asshole get his hands near his pockets is a bad idea and the copper did nothing wrong restraining him, getting his attention, forcing him to behave in a manner that protected the officer and citizens alike.

What would the media and the second-guessers be saying if the officer went to a baton? A taser? They'd be howling. But how else are you going to get the jackass off the bus without putting hands on? You aren't. And this second guessing by a bunch of softballs isn't doing the citizens of Chicago any favors by making them live in fear of a bum who throws a tantrum when he won't live by the rules. Good job officer.

this hits home to us... Richard Francis encountered a very similar situation... One can only wonder how he would have responded differently if not worrying about the liberal pussies that call themselves the Chicago media... God rest his soul! DO NOT ever second guess yourself! This officer acted appropriately! And whoever says differently can get fucked! This is a non issue! Pathetic this is even in the news...

I hope one day the sniveling little weasel who taped this and then asked the officer for his star number, has his mom or his sister, or his girlfriend come home and say they were harassed, accosted or assaulted, by one of the piss-rat bums. Fuck him.

On a side note, to all the whinny pussies who come on here and bitch that the public hates us, they don't. I work in 4, and spend a good deal of my day dealing with shitheads, but the vast of my interaction with the public in positive. If you truly believe the public hates us, then you're either doing your job wrong or sitting behind a desk for a living.

Be safe.

i saw the video and read the comments on the website. it pisses me off that the people leaving the comments said that the officer shouldn't have sworn so much...or that it was a better idea to just let the bum sleep it off and get the free ride. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? these bums do not, i repeat...do not respond to politeness!!! we are not going to sit next to him and figure out what the "core" of his problem are! i can see it now..."everyone please exit this bus in an orderly manner so i can delve into this man's mind in private, thank you!" that would make these liberals cry with hapiness. but seriously sometimes what people don't understand is that you have to talk to people in a manner they understand...and that includes the f-bomb once in a while!

If you have a history of driving on a suspended driver's license and are constantly intoxicated, odds are you will end up on a CTA bus. Also, you will be sick of having encounters with the police by then. That is what you will deal with on a bus disturbance. I think one officer being disarmed on a bus is too many. I commend this Officer for safely using an aggressive pscychological approach without having to tase or beat the non compliant offender. Again, great job Officer!

Boy this weasel with the video camera should be lucky he wasnt a victim of a crime.

Spencer Thayer......typical suburbanite coward. Hey, Spence...why not muster some balls and ride the Red Line late, late at night. Try taking the "el" with just your fucking camera and see what your opinion of the "fascist Chicago pigs" changes to once you see the badge and uniform come into view while you're getting off the platform at 63rd and Ashland.

I used to love working Special Enjoyment, riding the trains or just working in uniform at a deserted el station. The looks on peoples faces as they saw you made me GLAD I am the police. Nobody said anything to you but they'd all nod their heads and smile with their eyes just seeing you were there.

Howza bout the old Mass Transit tactical detail.....Eddie "Pigpen" Meyer used to sprinkle some Jack Daniels on (mostly) his clothes and then sit on a train car with a walkman over his ears, pretending he was asleep. His JOB, boys and girls, was to GET ROBBED. Before the train ride was over someone would be going through his pockets or actually putting a gun on him. Sometimes they'd let him just feel the cold steel of a knife against his neck. Of course, the half-dozen bored, indifferent, snoozing passengers were all MTU PO-LEESE swooping down on Mr. Robber, trying to introduce him to Mr. Colt or Mr. Smith & Wesson.

Nerves of steel? Superhuman courage? Nah....cops being cops. Taking their prisoner to the 1st or 18th district stations afterwards and spending the next few hours doing the paper, inventory and such....only to do it all again tomorrow.

See something like that Spencer and you'll feel ashamed you ever TRIED to catch a cop on tape. Go back home to Evanston or Oak Park, hit the bong and call your ex-hippie folks and try to explain your new-found respect for the CPD.

The truth hurts, sometimes.

Maybe the powers-that-be, need to examine the "use of force" table, the man is an active resistor and sometimes STRONG language IS necessary to let the citizens know the officer is serious. "Always remain one LEVEL HIGHER" is what the use of force tells us, so strong language and the way he handled the situation is exactly what need be done. This department is turning political correctedness into pansy-assed policing. WE ARE NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS, our job is not dealing with CUSTOMERS. We deal with CRIMINALS, and persons who do the most unspeakable things to others.

IN addition, if he stood outside the bus waiting for his BACKUP and something more happened he'd still be in a boat load of trouble, one of those CLOCK WATCHERS who do nothing, typical city employee, etc, etc,.

I love the lose-lose department we've become.

**********OFFICER SAFETY*********
SCC-

Would you consider a more in depth post sharing important information regarding this website:

http://chicagocopwatch.org

Chicago Cop Watch is a group of volunteers that go around filming the Chicago Police and inform people they have the right to observe and film the officers and the event taking place, but not to interfere. These people go around recruiting volunteers and instructing them to film an officer's conduct with the public to catch any misconduct by the officer.

The footage from the CTA incident was probably a set up and these CopWatchers paid the homeless guy to cause a disturbance and refuse to get off the bus.

If you visit the website they have several footage of officers in various districts on the Northside as well as in downtown.

Just remember there are "eyes" out there.

WTF ? Has society gone goofy ?

There was a day when that pos would have left that bus on a stretcher with the paramedics after that encounter with the police.

If I'll criticize anything about this, it's that the officer didn't wait for back-up. Our brother and my friend, Rick Francis was killed on an eerily similar call last year.

So, last night I see a news segment of some f*cking liberal twenty something punk named Thayer or ? taking credit for posting the You Tube clip. He says his "Group" feels the police should be held accountable for their actions.

For his information, the Police are held more accountable today than ever in history. I wish the little puke would spend his time filming the illegal activity of criminals and demanding that they be "held accountable" to society. Of course, Gee ! I guess that would be a violation of the criminals "civil rights" to be filmed like that. We can't have that, can we ?

I saw this thing when it was just on YouTube. Being a CTA rider, having dealt with drunks and weirdos, and having cop friends, I was pissed about this idiot even taking a video to make a cop look bad when he's just doing his job.

Like a lot of people, I posted on the YouTube page. Most of the posts let him know that there was nothing wrong with what was done. I counted that the PO told/said/ordered the guy off the bus at least 14 times. I thought that was pretty patient.

On You Tube, the video guy was responding and justifying his take to every one of the anti-vid comments. This morning I noticed he deleted them all and closed it to comments. He must have gotten overwhelmed with having to justify his ridiculous actions. Me, I asked him if he would have felt the same if this drunk pulled out a knife or a gun, on him. Or as one Trib commenter said, "What was he supposed to do, offer him a cookie?"

Kudos to the officer for doing his job. Yes profanity is not a civil way to request compliance from people. However sometimes it is very necessary to convey a message to uncivil people. Intimidation with the threat of force is really the basic concept of verbal judo. This could be a training video in the academy of how city police work is done in an expeditious manner to alleviate time constrant and be able to move on to your next assignment, with man power so low. If this officer gets so much as a reprimand no one should sign up for special at CTA, much less work your just putting you paycheck at risk. DO NOTHING

He got so drunk that he fell into the path of a subway train - costing him his right leg - but a Manhattan jury still awarded him $2.3 million after finding that NYC Transit was to blame.

DRUNK RIDES GRAVY TRAIN
$2.3M FOR LOSING LEG IN SUBWAY

Dustin Dibble, 25, of Brooklyn admitted he'd been boozing it up with friends for four hours before ending up on the tracks at the 14th Street Station with an N train bearing down on him. The impact took off his right leg just below the calf.

To the liberal coward(aren't they all) you video tapping this is the best thing you could have done for this officer. Now we have proof that the use of force was COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED. Retired CPD; Officers the name of the game is to protect yourselves both physically and money wise. The Officer was doing his job. Just a suggeston. When the goof did not want to get off the bus, ask the driver to sign a complaint there. If he will not have a CTA supervisor come to the scene and have them sign the complaint. Do not take him in the station and then hope a CTA Super. comes in to sign. Wait as long as it takes for them to sign. If they refuse to? Oh well. Leave

There are both a City Ordinance and Illinois State law which allows a police officer to order any person over the age of 18 to assist him in making an arrest. I used it a few times in 018 yrs ago when Larry and Linda liberal would try to stick their noses into police business Also when you are confronted ny some jag do gooder lawyer on the street who wants your star number tell him you want his card so you can contact the Attorney Disciplinary Commission and beef on him .This usually gets their attention, remind them that the City pays you to answer your beefs . Who is gonna pay him , time is money.....

The cop was doing his job. Sometimes language is used that maybe foul but is still a defense used to place scare for the non-compliant subject. The officer by all accounts was with in the scope of his "Use of Force" model that he was trained to follow.

Police work is becoming more difficult in our society. The bad guys get all the breaks and benefits of doubts. The man with the camera, I bet wouldn't be video taping gangsters shooting at each other or having a gang fight.

The media is becoming more and more bias. I find it ironic how they still did not report the group of African Americans who ran around down town video taping and beating up white folks and a Hispanic people near Michigan and Ontario, while they yelled "Obama". When contacted by many people letting you be aware of it you ignored it and responded that you were unaware of the incident and the police did not share the story. You use scanners to monitor police radios and the police have reports that were generated by the citizens who were victimized by this group.

What if this was in reverse? The media would have made it national news story in attempts to stir race relations. It is a shame how they pick and choose their stories; the story must fit their agenda. I have just cancelled my paper subscription, doing my part to run the Tribune out of business. Unfortunately, they are probably getting a bail-out, which explains alot about their journalistic practices.

they were fired at upon entry to the bus by an armed offender, shoot out occurred Doyle was killed.

The offender had TWO guns.

Watch the hands.

Always remember :
that the failure of any offender to obey a lawful order by a uniformed PO. is a clear and and dangerous threat to that officer.

busses and trains are dangerous always escalate your observation and threat level when boarding

Wait for assist.

If photos are seen being taken at scenes call for supervisor to respond as witness. Document.

stay safe

My dad was a CTA bus driver for 30 years (retired in 1990). During that time he was stabbed, punched, spit on and put up with everything one would expect from certain members of the public. The fact is that a percentage of public transit riders are shitheads, criminals and bums, and that sometimes they need to be physically removed from said public transit by the police. I'm fine with this result, I know damn well that my dad would be fine with this result and I can assure that most people who ride public transit are fine with this result. Good work.

This is the reason that I stopped giving offenders an option twice. They get their chance at freedom, if they choose to take it, good for them. If they cant' decide, or choose option B, then it's to the ground with them. They're under arrest. No words exchanged, no fuel for the liberal media's fire. A "stop resisting/stop fighting" every now and then for the crowd, but that's all they're getting out of me.

I bet If the officer took the offender into custody right after this POS became a passive resister (without all the words exchanged), the softy filming it wouldn't have shit.

Obviously the liberal public does not want us to do our job. To the liberal "COP WATCHERS" who read this, #1 stay off this blog it is a place where police cant vent. #2 if you want our help, which sometimes involves getting nasty with the nastiest of society then let us handle the job. This officer followed the use of force guidlines, technically he could have sprayed the passive resister, who later became a violent resister, with mace, however this officer showed restraint knowing the mace could affect others on the bus. Read and know your laws before you judge others you liberal morons. Finally handle the crimes yourself, I can not speak for other officers but I myself am sick and tired of attempting to help the public and the public trying to get me in trouble for doing my job correctly. Like I said before. This job is a public relations job, not a law enforcement job. I watched the video tape of this incident. The Officer did his job - PERIOD. This city has idiots living and running this city. Laws must change. Police officer gives an order, you must comply - if not you will be handled in a more aggressive manner, and you cannot sue. If things continue the way it is, you will fine less agressive officers and the crime rate will really sky rocket. This man was either drunk or high or just didn't want anyone to tell him what to do, which you will find the latter is prevalent among society these days. The department is a joke until the public is made aware that when the police is called, its not up to them to determine the outcome. My fellow officers, be careful out there and watch your backs, because the Department won't. Its a sad day. I just retired and not soon enough. I saw the hand writing on the walls years ago. The laws in Chicago were for the earlier years 30, 40, 50 and 60's. Not for today. I moved out of ILLINOIS and I'm finding that things are better where I am in another state. One of the laws here is you have the right to defend yourself and your property. So if Joe Smo decides to enter my yard that's fended or not, I have the right to shot the bas---- and not be charged with anything, including possessing a hand gun. Believe me the crime rate is very, very, low. One homicide two years ago. Burglary, maybe 10 per year. You know why? People aren't that crazy to enter your property without repercussions, and one may be death. There is a better way, but Chicago choose not to take that path. I feel more safe and more secure here, whereas, being in Chicago, you HAD TO CARRY A GUN to feel secure even while in your house. That's no way to live. Officers, get the hell out of Chicago, and find a good place to raise your kids and feel some what secure and safe. There are places in the United States where this kind of conduct by the citizens are not tolerated. God bless each and everyone of you.

OK, here it is. Mayor Daley, want to save money? Why not let your Public Relations Department (aka Chicago Police Department) off for a couple of days without pay. Let the citizens really run the city. See if the citizens can do without your officers. Because its obvious this is not working. Why not close down the entire CPD and let the 50 or so Aldermen be your law enforcement. Then you could have your 2016 Olympics and an empty city, because the population would have moved or be dead on the streets. Just a suggestion

Their motto is, alternately, "Exposing dirty Pigs" and "Policing the Pigs, Protect Your rights."

Keep in mind this is a video put out by someone who wants it slanted vs. the po-po. As such, you can plainly see that it was edited. When the CTA video is pulled and compared, you'll see the mutt get on the bus and just refuse to pay and/or get off and sit down just as if he has earned the 'entitlement' to ride for free. Ask those other passengers on the bus if they could do the same thing. Keep in mind the po-lice were there because they were "called there" by the bus driver or other (paying) passenger.
Yes, that's almost the same circumstances that took the life of Rick Francis. And, when it's portrayed on the TV and the po-po states loudly, "Oh, you want to fight?" that was the officers public awareness proclimation that that subject was uncooperative and became the aggressor instead of merely getting his (non-paying) ass off the seat and exit the bus as was the initial request from the officer. The media and that liberal puke with a camera portrayed it as the officer making a challenge and picking a fight as opposed to merely indicating that subjects aggressive actions that would justify the po-po to step up his response. God forbid the officer also raised his voice and attempted some verbal-judo in an attempt to gain simple compliance to get off the bus. Shame on the media for continually running with this story as told and interpreted by this biased liberal.

A thought... the po must have seen some movement or action that raised the stakes, as he is ASKING if the bad guy wants to fight.... NOT challenging the bad guy to a fight. Sounds to me like the po was, at the very least, in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery... and all he did is swear, close distance, and restrain until back up arrived.... Nice job. He could have justified wailing on this guy until help came, but he didn't. He did a great job.

I guess I’m missing something here, I watched this a couple times, I turn the audio off and watched the video some more, and I guess I’m missing something. What is it that was so intolerable, the language, you here and see worse shit on TV, maybe the officer didn’t call this lowlife “sir”, fuck that his attitude on society does not call for me to be require to, if I do, it’s as a courtesy. To put it bluntly, any asshole that puts his hands on an officer should be dealt with as an immediate threat, we’ve been here to many times before, which may not be what a small percentage of people want to hear. I’m going to do my best to get home to my family in one piece and so is any other officer that I’m on the job with.

If for some reason some feel that this is wrong, try going up to Glencoe of some upper crust community and try that shit, put your hands on an officer after refusing to comply, odds are 9 out of 10 that officer will just take a few steps back and taser your ass… and they won’t hand you a pillow to break your fall either.

PS Maybe next time take your film first to Spielberg and have him add some special effects added, maybe call it Men in Black III so at least it could be entertaining.

Maybe he should have used an arm bar to make him co-operate!!! Again, what a crock of shit!! If this was 30 years ago that bum on the bus would have been picking up his teeth, if he had any, from the floor of that bus!! All we have here is some Rosa Parks martyrdom bullshit on our hands!!

I watched that video several times. I do not see that the Officer did anything wrong. He was using Verbal Judo in an attempt to remove the man. However, the man refused several requests to exit the bus.

That's when you move to physical force to remove him. The man clearly moved his hands up to the officer's neck area. That tells me he wants to resist. The Officer now begins to use the Necessary Force to remove the man.

You will notice that all the passengers nearby begin to move away from the man, and away from the Officer and toward the back of the bus (they know what's coming and do not want to get dirty or involved in any way). That's why we have a police Force (to do the dirty work that the common man does not want to do or see).

I see no passenger offering help to assist the Officer (did any of them use their cell phones to call 911 for help for the Officer?).

And the "Wimpy Camera Guy" keeps moving around to get a better shot, but offers no help in the removal of the man. (shame on you Mr. Wimp)

The mechanics of an arrest do not always follow the "Please and Thank You" format. Many arrests require the "Placing of the Hands" format, as in this case.

Mr. Weis would not know this, being that he never worked the street as an Officer, his FBI training was of the "paperwork and read a book" situations.

This incident made me recall a bus incident from the '70's in the 20th. dist. (pre 024 era) at 6601 N. Clark Street. Bus disturbance on midnights, n/b Clark at Albion. When we arrived the driver related that a man (laying in the aisle) had boarded the bus at Devon (2 blocks south) and refused to pay. The driver stopped the bus and called in on his phone to CTA control, in the mean time the man began to accost the driver. The driver took out his transfer punch and struck the man on top of his head to defend himself.

In court the next day, case is called, and the man is brought out from the bullpen (his head looks like the mummy, totally wrapped in bandages covering his whole head and face). Judge hears the story and gives the man 30 days in the house of corrections.

Bottom Line;

Officer, you did a great job and I personally thank you for being there. And I think that most of the citizens who have to ride public transit every day also thank you. They know all the crap that you have to put up with every day, unlike our Gold Star Management Team that rarely ever patrols with the troops. (If you notice, Weis always travels with an array of other puppets that can advise him on what we are doing as he does not know any of our procedures, even after a year of being Appointed).

Sorry Mr. Weis, you should have applauded the Officers actions as soon as you learned of them, just like you defended Aunt Bea without any hesitation and without any investigation of the incident.

As a sergeant I wish I had a watch full of officers who did their job like this officer did. The offender was an active resister and the officer's action were justified. He handled the piece of shit exactly as he should have. It is a shame that some officers are afraid to put their hands on people. J Fed should show the department how he has our backs this is the perfect situtation to come out and support this officer.

As for the liberal piece shit that taped this encounter, I can only hope he becomes a victim of a crime.

Does anyone know if the bus "videographer" Spencer Thayer is related to Andy Thayer, the professional activist? He would try to lead every demonstration in the city...You would see him at all the anti-abortion, anti-war, anti-police rallies. Haven't seen him lately but he was a wacko police hater.

Sad. The civilian has more power then the officer. This city doesn't allow you to be peace officers, but treat you more like Paul Blart, Mall Cop.

The officer should have slammed him into the ground and handcuffed for not leaving the bus.

if this was staged and white POS put the bum up to it: charge the White POS wth conspiracy to commit battery (to the bus driver) and conspiracy to resist arrest. Also sue him civilly and his copwatch organization.

Hey Spencer, i'll make you a deal. Call the 007th district at midnite (312-747-8220)and i will personally drive you to 63 and ashland where you can stand on the corner and wait for a bus. I'll call in an assist of a citizen. after boarding said bus (assuming you haven't called 911 yet), my partner and i will wait for the call to a disturbance/robbery/assault on CTA bus #???? and then give you the proper paper. I'm sure your video camera will not be helpful to us trying to catch the offender since it will surely be gone from your possession. Take care Spencer. By the way, i can get you on the redline at 63 and the Ryan for free, but can't assist you north to where i'm sure you live

Verbal judo is the answer. Present options then take action. He was a defenseless, homeless person who has rights. The offcier could have paid the fair. Or ask other riders to kick in for his fare. Have a heart for the poor man. Profanity was not appropiate.

2/19/2009 01:48:00 PM
--------
Here's some verbal judo: F*ck YOU!
Please tell us what options YOU would present to a drunken, slobbering, shit in his pants piss-bum, who is higher than shit. Please tell me how you would reason with someone like that.

Please, if you have any ideas, share them. Maybe they'll hire you to teach as a civilian at the Academy to teach us.

As far as paying his fare, are you F*CKING NUTS? We are not social workers, we are the POLICE. This bum broke the law, then refused a police order...then he raised his hand in a threatening manner. Sure, pay his fare, let him start harassing or assaulting passengers on the bus, maybe he had a gun! YOU ARE SO STUPID IT'S BEYOND BELIEF. Yeah, let the stinker stay on the bus so the citizens can enjoy him, and ride in fear of what he might do next. BRILLIANT IDEA EINSTEIN!

Perhaps you've forgotten we recently lost one of our own when he boarded a CTA bus on a disturbance call, and was disarmed by a crazed woman, who then shot and killed him!

We don't get second chances. We have to take decisive action, not try to reason with someone who could be cracked out.

As far as having a heart, you have no idea the things we see that break our hearts on a daily basis. There's not one copper who has not shed tears at some point over what he or she has seen. Sometimes it's so upsetting you want to throw up. Sometimes, literally, you can feel your heart ACHE. Physically ACHE.

There's not one copper out there who hasn't lost sleep over the sadness of it all. So don't insinuate coppers don't have hearts. We have BIGGER hearts than most, and that is what allows us to soldier on.

We used to LOVE this job. Now the supt. has broken us. The public has broken us.

Come to the west side and spend some time. You'll be on Prozac and mumbling to yourself, crying your eyes out driving home.

And profanity is what these people understand--it's the real world, not downtown Naperville. It's the city, and it's dirty, and life out here is ugly. So what, the copper swore. BIG *(&(*&)(^%&^% DEAL.

SO SHUT UP AND GET OFF THIS BLOG AFTER YOU POST YOUR OPINIONS ON POLICE PROCEDURE. I DOUBT WE'LL HEAR FROM YOU.

RIP OFFICER RICHARD FRANCIS, OUR BROTHER IN BLUE.

Pay the fare? Are you fucking stupid or what? Obviously not the police writing. Ask the other riders, no fucking way. the other riders have been paying for that piss bums life for many years. That defenseless homeless person has been sucking at the public tit for many years.

You pay for him, I certainly won't. I get paid to throw them off the bus and to arrest them. My money is too precious to go to a piss bum's bus fare. I have to send it to Catholic High School because I don't want my kid associating with the savages at CPS.

That was good, why didn't the officer pay the fare. Hell, why not dinner and cocktails while he's at it?

No doubt in my mind that this piece of SHIT Spencer Thayer staged this. Come on, he just happens to run a website, CHICAGOCOPWATCH.ORG, and he knows the police are about to come on the bus so his camera is ready and rolling? What a coincidence. I wonder how many other situations he's tried to stage in which the officer acted properly and there was no interesting footage? It really gets me sick to think that in this day and age there are people out there videotaping us. I know I would have been very grateful the police took that drunk bum off the bus and I would have thanked the Officer. A big GO-FUCK-YOURSELF goes out to SPENCER.

My favorite part was in the "Copwatch Handbook", page 17.

"Don't film criminal conduct if you see any. Focus on the police."

Liberals are liberals until they're victimized by the savage, then they cry that they aren't protected by their local law enforcement. Oh..did I forget something? ENFORCE the law, not "coax someone into obeying the law."

This is the EXACT disobedient behavior and quality of life issues that KEEP the ghetto the ghetto! CPD deals with it everyday! It will never change. Rumor just in, please confirm!

The 18th Dist copper in video, "STRIPPED"?
Yes, that is the word. I saw that video and from that video, with the bullshit captions. Never saw the cop force his head into the window and never saw anything wrong with what happened. If anything they could get him on the swearing and even then that is a stretch.
---

****FALSE****

PO NOT stripped, no charges, no notifications of any kind.

Also no words of support from either our Superintendent, Jody Weis or any high ranking police official, you know, the ones who all have our backs.

And strangely enough, no words of support from Mark Donahue or anyone from FOP.

I was pissed about this idiot even taking a video to make a cop look bad when he's just doing his job.
----------------------------------
The cop did not look all that bad. I don't blame someone for videotaping these kind of events. They are interesting. And other people will be interested.

Most people just don't have much of a clue how police work is done - sort of like making sausage. Educating them about how it really works is a little unpleasant but in the long run it will make it better for everyone.

Passenger on the bus flags down the police and says there is a crazy man on the bus, Officer responds ALONE to quell the disturbance. The guy was going off on the bus driver and then shoves the officer away. I know this officer, he is a very good conscientious officer.

Rick Francis was going through his mind as he boarded this bus. The idiot was arrested, idiot wasn't hurt and claimed no injury. The officer did nothing wrong.

SOP now for bus disturbances: Wait for backup, and demand a Sgt with a Taser. Lacking that, hold back and tell the zone you are waiting for proper backup to prevent your own injury or death.

The only smoke in this fire is coming from the cinematographer's ass. He was obviously both well equipped and situated for filming. Coincidence? Feh.

This officer did absolutely nothing wrong from this Chicago resident's perspective.

One of my PERSONAL Favorites is 2 million SCU OC spray. I had a piss bum in the hallway at 2850 N Clyborne who, when asked to move along, jumped up broke the 40 Oz bottle he was nursing and lunged at me. I gave him a little "burst" and down he went. I didnt have time to be nicey nice to him,or see what his life troubles were. I DID however have time to educate him on who was Actually running that hallway. As far as i can see this Officer did it by the numbers and showed commendable restraint. Please for Gods Sake, dont underestimate these piss bums. And after you cuff them check for the tiny SCALPELS that they are now secreting in the belt seams of their pants. yeah I know its nasty, but Id rather smell the smell them bleed out in a hallway.

"You cleanin the trash up Chubbie?" Id always laugh when he said that. He was a soulful mindful man who respected people. He met an untimely demise at the hands of a piss bum on a bus.(one that for reasons I cannot fathom is still breathing)I may never be the man Rich was in stature or in presence, but its for damn sure that I will keep him in the front of my mind when i encounter some waste of society being combative in a CHA hallway. The Officer on 1892A(?) reminds me a lot of Rich. And no he did NOTHING wrong here.To the nay sayers go to hell.
