Someone is Getting Fired

  • Over the last 16 months, Mark Geinosky has received 24 parking tickets.

All but one have been dismissed. You can bet that one will be thrown out, too, when he goes to administrative court next week.

For reasons Geinosky can't explain, he believes Chicago police officers have targeted him with the barrage of citations—sometimes issuing four tickets at a time for such things as parking too close to a fire hydrant, obstructing the roadway or leaving his vehicle in a crosswalk.
We can list a number of occasions that we've issued a slew of tickets to one vehicle. Multiple violations aren't hard to locate if someone parks some piece of shit vehicle in a crowded neighborhood. This doesn't appear to be one of those times though:
  • Of the 24 tickets he has received, 13 were written by the same officer. The Problem Solver is not naming the officer because he has not been charged with any wrongdoing. The 13 tickets were written at four different South Side locations in May, July, August and October of last year. All 13 of those tickets were written at exactly 10 p.m., no matter which day they were issued. And all 13 were sequential in number, meaning that from May to October that officer wrote no tickets to anyone other than Geinosky from the ticket book in question.
Thirteen sequential tickets issued at 10:00PM over 6 months time by one cop? Uhhhhh....Earth to moron. Hope you kept a good rapport with your old employers.

Why do idiots make it so hard for the regular boys and girls to show up, do their job and try to do it well and with pride with crap like this?

Now in all fairness:
WC says at roll car to beat car, "Check this blk of blank for trucks on residential every day". Said Po's go to said block and tkt all trucks on residential, while doing so they also issue all the expired plates, no city stickers etc...
Every day during tour at different times.
All legit violations!
What we can't write chronic violators parkers anymore?
OK, lets just stop arresting chronic violent offenders!
City admin officer dismisses tkts is the same as States Atty not prosecuting charges and judges routinely dismissing felony arrests!
NOW BECAUSE OF LIBERAL PROSECUTOR, JUDGES AND CITIZEN COMPLAINTS WE HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHEST MURDER RATES IN THE COUNTRY!
If I got a tkt, I wouldn't park illegally again.
If I got pinched for a crime a did crime I might decide on a different careeer.
OUR LIBERAL DO GOODER POLITICIANS HAVE MADE IT OK TO BE A BAD GUY.
NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR ACTIONS AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM SUPPORTS IT!
YOU GOT WHAT YOU ASKED FOR.
I don't park illegally, I carry a gun everywhere, and I will use it if necessary! AND not illegally!!!

This is for our readers from the press. If you are looking for THE story, the important one, post a fax number on this blog with a contact name. When the number is posted, we will begin to fax you our work sheets from the Beat cars. On those work sheets you will find alot of empty slots. These are cars that are not patroling the streets, cars not intercepting gang bangers on their way to a shooting, cars not enforcing traffic laws or handling the day to day mess that piles up.

Part of the new strategy is putting the police where they are needed and the TRU Unit and Mobile Strike Force can account for some of the empty slots. The rest of the empty cars are because we are that short handed with people to man those cars. We are severely undermanned in the field. This is an Officer safety issue (one man cars at night w/ P.O. killed last year) and a public safety issue. Plus, where is this money going?

I am going on three decades in a blue and white. When crime was going down those cars were filled. They are empty now and crime is up. Sometimes the answer is that simple.

For our part, I hope the P.O.s stop off at a Kinkos or some other remote spot and fax away. It is out lives they are risking.

Great. More technology of dubious value. Instead of doing real BI's they are going to rely on lie detectors that have a fairly high false positive rate that will result in perfectly good candidates being rejected. probably to save money.

A simple handwriting comparison should answer that question !

Your point is valid though. Years ago when we were still writing the buff colored parkers before the bright orange ones came along, a patrol Sgt showed up at Traffic Records at the old Traffic Court at 321 N LaSalle, with a list of parking citation numbers.

Some copper with an ax to grind against the Sarge, checked out a book under a phony name & star # and was writing bogus tickets on the Sarge's personal vehicle.

After the Sarge came up with a potential list of suspects and an investigation by IAD, a handwriting check turned up the PO, who, last I recall, was doing 30 pending separation on a list of Rule Violations.

So, other shit does happen !

Did you ever write a car a ticket only to see that the a$$ moved it and again parked it illegally? In some way, you feel like the guy is being a smart ass, and you write him again. Now, everyday you look for that car to see if the a$$, again parked illegally. The owner of this car stated that he removed the plates when he sold his car. I would like to see that he indeed has both plates, and that there was never a replacement plate issued. If the plate was stolen (reported or not), that would explain why someone disregards the tickets, and continues to park illegally. Jumping to conclusions without considering the possibilities is ignorant at best.

The guy started getting speeding tickets while stopped at stop signs, parking tickets while parked in his own driveway, etc.

By most accounts the guy did not even know what he had done to piss off the copper.

The guy's lawyer worked out a deal with the local courts and basically when tickets came in against this guy, they would be summarily dismissed without him even having to appear.

To the best of my recollection, no disciplinary measures were ever taken against the cop and his cop buddies.

You guys can happily come down to the 6800 block of NW Hwy and ticket all the commercial vehicles that park there. There's generally at least 2 per night - probably 4-5 in the summertime. Same idiots every damn time. I live here and have watched where these people live. The condo/apartment building they go into has TONS of parking out back, that they probably don't want to pay for. In the summer, people block the crosswalks too, or are practically on top of the driveway for the alleys. Complaining to Doherty is like talking into your beer. I hate this city too but if you guys need parkers, look no further.

I say let them pay the city. I pay for private parking, and it's nice when guests are over that they don't have to park 2 blocks away in Park Ridge. Not when you have some huge maroon van with ladders on it consistently parked on front of your residence, though.

That cop might have been an asshole - who really knows - but if the guy he was writing was really in violation, you'd think something should have clicked with him too.

If this guy is violating the law when he parks then too bad. I wonder if this block is a foot patrol location or special attention and is told by the sgt that he must have activity at that location. An old timer would probably write one ticket and say "fuck u sgt."

UNLESS THEY CAN PROVE HE "KNEW" THIS PERSON OR HAD A VENDETTA AGAINST HIM THE DEPARTMENT CAN'T DO SHIT!!!!

Listen up you all you scared little idiots...Many times have officer's locked up the same offender for example....you lock up a guy for selling drugs he may do time/may not....then you lock him up again for same thing.....and again. BOTTOM line is if he's breaking the law then you do your job and lock him up.

As in this case.... maybe this idiot was the only person parking illegally? if so F*ck him.....he gets a ticket. If he does it again or has any other violations....write him! Nothing wrong with doing your job. If WE have to be legit and get hammered by inspectors than you better bet your ass "joe" citizen better have his shit legal.

NOW....again....if this officer DID know this person then it's a different story.

IF NOT......then YES it so happened that this same vehicle repeatedly parked illegally all those times.....so he did his job and wrote em.

Monique Bond, AKA The Scary Skull, apparently has finally finished her looooooooooong goodbye to the Chicago Police Department. On today's noon news, she looked like she just rolled out of bed while speaking for the Chicago Public School's "Bored" of Education. Thank goodness and goodbye to the Scary Skull. NEXT! Now, as her replacement, what political hack is city hall going to give us?

I hate the Fibune, but I had to read the Kass column today. Kass hit the nail on the head about mayor mumbles and his ironic comments about the Feds. Mumbles is so fucking stupid, he publicly stepped on his own tongue by calling out the Feds.

I hope the Feds fuck mayor mumbles GOOD and LONG and HARD! If he cells with Michael Vick or Barry Bonds, if Barry goes away, mayor mumbles could become Mrs. Vick or Mrs. Bonds! Michael can use the end around reverse on him and give the balls to mumbles or Barry can slam him out of the cell block! now that would be true justice!

It most definitely is a vendetta, probably writen from a stolen ticket book. The Citations do not get processed through the Citation CLerk because the entire system had broken down. Whoever wwrote the tickets might have mailed them directly to the Dept. of Revenue. No doubt a copper wrote the tickets, but most likely not the gut the book is issued to. If is is the guy who signed the book out he needs to be fired. whoever wrote the tickets should be fired.

a funny story

We had a sgt that no body liked in a north side district

One day he went to renew his driver's license, which he was unable to do

Seemed like he had two outstanding moving violations that he was unaware of.

As the story unfolded, further investigation revealed that some clever officer borrowed a couple of movers from the book of one of our district's more prolfic mover writers.

He issued this Sgt two tickets, one for a hazardous mover (it may have been for a wide load since this Sgt had a weight problem) and one for fail to carry or produce.

Then an I bond was written and the whole package sent through the system

The IAD, who was never able to identify the culprit, didnt think it was as funny as I did then and still do now

Hope you guys got a giggle out of it too

The district, IAD made no further attempt to find the person who did it. I grieved the suspension, never heard back. No big deal. One day I can handle. This is done a lot. I understand that the article said something along the lines of, "the officers name in question", leading one to believe that there is a P.O.'s name attached to the tickets. Before you guys comment read the story SCC linked to.

Stolen ticket book?

If the story is correct the ticketee(civilian) suggests the ticketer(cop) had a teeny weeny little hardon for him because of something to do with an ex girlfriend.

Is it possible it was a stolen ticket book? I'm sure the department will get a handwriting analysis of the tickets if the officer claims he didn't issue the tickets.

I doubt it was a stolen ticket book, but time will tell. I've been wrong before.

I suggest those of you not familiar with ancient philosophy check out the concept of "Occaam's razor".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occaam%27s_razor

Simply put, the simplest explanation is likely the correct explanation.

Now at the moment the only philosophy I subscribe to is "I drink, therefore I am."

Like SCC, I'm really getting sick of the dumbasses who do this stupid type of shit. I expect idiocy from the Mayor, 35th St, the alderman etc. It would be nice just to go a few weeks without some story running in the paper about some cop looking at kiddie porn, screwing a 15 year old, taking bribes from tow truck drivers, being involved in a DUI related fatality, beating up a bartender, killing family members, and now apparently running some personal vendetta with his little used ticket book.

As was said in another comment forget the polygraph. Institute IQ tests. If your IQ is below room temperature you can run for elected office, but can't be a cop.

scc, everyone needs to relax. this is an instance of a stolen ticket book. the officer in question works on the second watch. all of the tickets in question were written on third watch at 2200. furthermore, the officer in question has gone through numerous other ticket books since the investigation begun. also, the time when the tickets in question were written at 2200 hrs, the same officer had written legitimate parkers during his tour of duty on the same day...which means, the officer lost his book and some scumbag started f'n with the p.o and this guy who started getting all the tickets. everyone needs to relax.. the p.o. should have reported his book missing but one of his fellow officer really put him in a jam.. lets not hang this guy quite yet...as many of you are doing... this website is starting to look like a tabloid lately than an honest piece of information for the chicago police.

Keep writing habitual traffic violators how the fuck are they suppose to get Daley's Denver boot if you don't write them more than once. That p.o. should get a honorable mention for keeping up the district numbers and generating revenue for the city. C.A.P.S.

Well we dont exactly get the sharpest pins on the board.

This is really nothing compared to some stunts Ive seen guys do.

I say "fuck it". Stop writing altogether. See if Richeys revenue army can make up the difference.

Any copper writing a bunch of tickets nowdays is a softball.

But think about it. The "ticket guys" were always oddballs to say the least. They always knew they were so disliked they always figured if they wrote enough tickets everyone would love them.

But almost to the one. The ticket guys were always screwballs on this job.

You never know. There is an idiot that lives in the 2300 block of N. Leavitt that drives a 2008 BMW truck. Lives in probably a million dollar plus home. Plates have been expired since Oct. or November 08. I was writing him at least once a week. After this story I guess I will just leave it alone.

______________________________________

That's a completely different scenario. It's possible to research that one and determine that the plates were expired at the time you wrote him. Plus, you can tow the car after a week or two as being not properly licensed if it hasn't been moved. Scribble away, my brother.... scribble away.

This just indicates that the recipient of the tickets is a habitual law breaker. Fuck em. We have to abide by the city/state laws, so should everyone else.

***I used to work for one of the news agencies, now I on the job. When we needed to find out where a copper lived we asked another cop and lunch was on us. Still happens today.

2/25/2009 08:55:00 PM

the FOP needs to get a CR and have the officer identified, and fired if this is true!!!!

2/25/2009 09:23:00 PM

I am insulted and cringe at the thought of a news agency randomly happening upon one of us and, for the price of a beef sandwich, that one of us would give up the personal information of another one of us. I sincerely hope that person does not exist in our ranks.

However, if that person does exist, short of hitting a home run with their head as the hard ball, karma is a bitch. It might take a bit for it to happen, but karma does happen. I have seen it.

HI PEOPLE, mISSY HERE ONCE AGAIN,

Here is my sincere thoughts on the parkers. If you SLUGS wrote parkers like you are paid to do this would never of happened.
This SLUG just wrote this poor guy because he/she was afraid to just go out there and write a book the right way.

On Tuesday, I wrote 455 parkers in 6 hours on Wabash. Most, if not all you slugs could not write that many in 20 years.

Our mayor needs $$$ SLUGS. Do your job or leave. My uncle Tom Byrne (rtd) told me that the mayor is not happy with all you slugs that just arrest "Pissers" when you could write a book of tickets.

Yes people, I am mad, you people are not worth $12.00 an hour.

Be safe people,
Missy

Everything else aside, did anybody think about the statement: "efforts to reach the officer at him home...."? Just how, who and why did the Trib get the officer's home address? Isn't that some kind of violation of the rules, since he isn't charged with anything yet?

2/25/2009 02:46:00 PM
+++++++++++++++++

WE HAVE LEAKS!!!!!

I think THAT is a bigger problem than any of these issues........

Someone is RELEASING confidential information to the TRIBUNE!!!

BE WARNED CPD!

we don't even know the story and everyone is ready to fire this guy. I bet he/she lost their ticket book and most likely filled out the star, unit and signiture portion like the rest of us do when we check out a ticket book. ro has no knowlege of who wrote those tickets.

You can write whomever you like. If they are in violation, you can write him everyday!! It sounds like this goof wrote a car that was gone, and he just kept copying the ticket.

I find my expired plates, and other cars, and they are my usuals. I will write the same car 4 tickets everyday until it moves or becomes in compliance.

You can find ANYONE'S address on the internet. ACCURINT yourself sometime--it will scare the shit out of you...your SS#, home phone number, vehicles, plates, associates, relatives, etc., are all there for the world to see.

Don't blame a copper for leaks. Like it or not, it's ALL out there. And that includes YOU:)

What The F*ck, SCC ?

"...The Problem Solver asked the Police Department's Office of News Affairs if he could speak to the officer but was told the officer was unavailable because of the investigation. Attempts to reach him at his home were unsuccessful."

"ATTEMPTS TO REACH HIM AT HIS HOME WERE UNSUCCESSFUL..." ? ? ? ?

HOW IN THE F*CK DID THEY FIND OUT WHERE HIS HOME IS ? ? ? ?

I sure hope this is some stupid newspaper interns' error, because if not, then someone has some explaining to do !"

HATE TO TELL YOU, OLD-TIMER: anyone can be found in seconds these days. Even cops. All that information's available online -- no exception made for cops -- to anyone willing to pay a nominal fee. It's a whole new world.

And unless you want to keep an extremely low profile - rent only, don't have a car in your name, don't do anything at all that leaves a trace in public records, there's nothing you can do to hide. I don't think it's even possible to do anymore.
