Last Place?

  • Hopes and preparations for the 2016 Olympics have been dominating public discourse and city planning for more than two years, but now, the latest ranking of the four finalist cities for the games shows Chicago has now slipped into last place.

[...] the city's Olympic Committee has its work cut out for it over the next two weeks, as it tries to put minds at ease about the viability of the Chicago's bid.

The Web site GamesBids.com released a mathematical model called Bid Index for the four finalist cities for the 2016 Games. The analysis has Tokyo leading the pack with a ranking of 61.41, followed by Rio de Janeiro with 59.95, Madrid with 58.73, and Chicago in last place with 58.37.
The main reason for the drop is the lack of 100% guaranteed government financing for the Games. Shortshanks is relying on corporate donations of the sort that have helped bail out Millennium Park and "the Bean." In light of the global economy tanking and corporations reducing their outlay for naming rights, sponsorships and other similar spending, the Chicago proposal is indeed on shaky ground.

NoGamesChicago even has a website and are planning a rally in the Federal Plaza. They claim that 2,000 people are slated to show. It's enough to send the mayor into another tantrum.

So if we do not get the Olympics, and I hope we don't, who will keep track of where all the money in the Olympic fund goes to? There are millions in there that I'm sure will just disappear. Maybe that's why the little dictator pulled the offer off the table for our contract. Maybe he knows that Chicago isn't getting the Olympics so he doesn't care if we ever get the contract settled.

the stuttering one WILL SIGN the guarantee. Believe it. Salt Lake did the same maneuver and signed the guarantee while adding language that essentially made it null and void. Watch tricky dick to do the same, just in time for the announcement that Chicago has won the games.

Daley will blame everyone else but himself if, I mean WHEN we don't get the Olympics. It's always everyone elses fault. Typical criminal or democ-RAT.

What's the problem, won't those olympic officials stay bribed? Do they keep demanding more and more?
No ethics amongst criminals? Hard to believe.

Maybe the "messiah" can get us the Special Olympics for 2016 with the Shriver (Kennedy) family involved.

Predict Obama will announce that the US govt will pledge billions for the games just in time to save the day
How many sleep overs at the white house has Daley had in the first six weeks?
Obama is a Chicago lad after all and knows he must keep the king's dream alive

It's a shame that our city that claims to be in such a financial hole will spend every last cent to get the olympics. I still have not met one person that wants the olympics. If the city took a vote it would be be a landslide vote against the olympics! Chicago is no condition to support the olympics just fo Daley's legacy. Just look at history. London and Vancouver are hurting big time over the olympics and they admitt it.

OK guys its time to buy. Info for the police. Refinance the mortage, take the extra money and place it in a e trade account or sometime similar. Banks, Banks, Banks are making a come back. If they are in good footing now in three weeks they will double the price of the stock.

I don't care what the websites read. Vegas still has Chicago as the favorite to land the games.
