Shooting and Grenade Incidents
A Marquette Park man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing shots at police during a pursuit early Sunday on the Southwest Side.
[...] Gonzalez allegedly fled on food [sic]. Officers pursued and ordered Gonzalez to halt and drop his weapon. Gonzalez allegedly responded by turning and firing four shots at the pursuing officers, who returned fire, police said.
Police arrested a man who tossed a fake grenade during a foot chase Sunday morning in the Far South Side’s Roseland community.
Police responded to a call of a person with a gun near East 107th Street and South Wentworth Avenue about 10:40 a.m. Responding officers located the suspect, who attempted to flee on foot, police said.
During the chase, the suspect tossed what appeared to be a grenade. Officers notified the Chicago Fire Department and the police Bomb & Arson Section and captured the suspect, police said. No gun was ever found on the man.

the offender was taken into custody in the 3500 block of 65th, the gun was recovered and initial reports indicate that the offender was attempting a break in at an elderly womans apartment when he was on viewed by the 008 Tac Team. Good job by all involved.
Offender was a known Gang Banger in the area and had multiple rounds of ammo in his pocket when arrested.
They are getting bolder and bolder. The residents of these "neighborhoods" neither like, nor respect, nor fear the authority of the government which the police represent. They prefer to live by their own chaotic "laws of the jungle." What is it going to take to turn this around and start taking control of these areas? Does society have to completely break down so it can be rebuilt? Is it that we don't have enough police, or we have too many guns on the street, or we don't educate the kids well enough, or are the "reverends" stirring up the populace for political gains? These are political questions, nothing that a police officer can answer. All I know is take care of the guy on my left and my right and end every day with the same amount of holes I had when the day began. If I have to light someone up, I hope I have the skill to put a couple mags into him before he hits the ground.
remember during roll call you have what the department authorizes you to have. after roll call you go to the trunk of your personal vehicle and grab what you need to survive your 8 hour tour. so what if you get caught with stuff you should not have-- better safe than sorry.

I lived on 81st and Carpenter Street when GCS Officers Fahey and O'brien were gunned down by the Wilson thugs in 1981 on 81st and Morgan street. The only good thing that came out of that tragedy was the fact that all the thugs went deep underground when the CPD took off the gloves to search for the Wilson brothers. My folks were able to walk the family dog with no fear and I went to school unmolested by the neighborhood daisy duke shorts wearing donuts gang. I tell you I have never been so UNAFRAID in Chicago as when the cops had the gloves off and were not taking no guff from any thugs on the street. I got stopped by coppers but when they saw my school ID from Depaul there was no problem. On the other hand I didn't talk smack and try to be a tough guy and I wasn't a vagina slurping vickie lou gangbanger neither. It was beautiful. Working folks could walk to Taurus Ice Cream on 79th Street with their families with no fear. Me personally, I think John Burge was a hero!
SCS please explain why coppers are against allowing professional private security patrols to supplement your efforts? With crime escalating and the economy going south I am going to actively push for where I live becoming a gated community with private security patrols. Of course if successful we are going to contract with a tier one company like Securitas or Vance Security which are both ran by ex federal law enforcement and intelligence community pros. I got a cousin who lives out in DuPage County. Where he lives you can't enter without the guard contacting who you are visiting. That person has to approve your entry into the community. No permission no entry! And my cousin is a UPS Driver so he's not a rich yuppie.

At least during arbitration the city will have to open it's books to show all that money they are hiding for the Olympics. Plus they have to show where all the money for the budgeted 13,500 officers is going since we only have around 9,000. If you expect us to do the job of 13,500 with only 8,500 like you want then. Worked last night in 025....we had 4 shot in less than 18 hours....just in 025....WTF does this department and this silly fuck of a mayor think we can do??
