Blackhawks Advance

  • Blackhawks goalie Nikolai Khabibulin made 43 saves to lead the Hawks to a series-deciding 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames Monday in Game 6 at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

With the win, the Hawks advance to the conference semifinals for the first time since 1996.

Congratulations to the Blackhawks. This has beena long time coming. A great young team, a steady coaching staff, and a big thanks to Rocky Wirtz, without whom none of this would be possible.

This was a great game. The Hawks scored in the first period, and then kept the Flames in check, while Khabby stopped all but one in the win. SJ just lost, so the Hawks will get Vancouver, and the Red Wings will play the Ducks. 12 to go...

Congrats to the Blackhawks for moving on. I hope they take the Cup this year - and even sweeter is if they play against Pittsburgh and crush them!

Lots of luck!

it looks like the hawks will be playing the vancouver canucks in the next round. i like the match up-- it will be a tough series-- you still have to go thru detroit to get to the prize though, unless we get lucky and someone knocks them off.

Once you make the playoffs, you are one of the teams with the 'opportunity' to win the Stanley Cup. Each series win puts you in a much more exclusive club.

Fact is, these Blackhawk kids make up one of the youngest teams in the NHL and don't realize yet, that they are supposed to lose to their more senior opponents. How great is it that they are getting this playoff experience at this young age.

A tip of the hat to Rocky Wirtz who has so quickly overcome the burden of his dad's footprint on this franchise and is shaping them into what hopefully can become a hockey dynasty for years to come.

Hell, if Detroit can do it, why not us?

Bet Officer J.E. has broken out his Hawks jersey with the "00" on the back... what a goof! Oh, me bad...has he made Detective yet? As my FTO in 024 I had to listen day in and day out to his "Hawk Talk" but that wasn't as bad as listening to him brag about how he was #1 on the Dick's list.

16 total shots including the empty net goal. 44 against. i bet the Red Wings are worried if they meet the Hawks in the conference finals.

Vancouver has the Hawks number. They looked like the Harlem Globetrotters playing the Washington Generals the last few times they met. I would have rather seen them play San Jose. Maybe Habby will carry the Hawks past the Canucks. If they win this series I think they have a good chance at winning the cup.

HUH? I could tell you quite the story about how we had to arrest Bob Probert one night in 018 after he had a wild night at The Exit where he tried to pick up 2 drag queens on Bondage Night.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Blackhawks but they have no chance against Vancouver. Not a chance in hell.

Here Come the Hawks, The Mighty Black Hawks........ At last role models for the youth of this city. As a Hockey Mom I can attest to the fact that professional hockey players are much more in tune with their fan base especially the children. I am not surprised with what Rocky Wirtz has done with the team since I have had the pleasure to witness and experience first hand the commitment he made to youth hockey in Illinois, even when his father was still alive. My son is a better person because of the experiences he has had during his involvement in this sport. And no he is not a goon, he was All State, competed on a Illinois Select Team which played teams from all around the nation, plays College Hockey, and coaches a youth hockey team all while maintaining a 4.2 GPA. Not bad for a guy who plays a "goon" sport. Ever since he was involved in hockey he has benefited from events, clinics, tournaments, etc. all sponsored partially or entirely by the Black Hawk Organization under the direction of Rocky Wirtz. It is so refreshing to see Rocky Wirtz get the long deserved recognition he is due. It just goes to show you dreams do come true.

The "experts" are picking the Canucks to win the conference semi-finals over the Blackhawks. I'm glad that the Hawks are considered the underdog this time around, that'll motivate them even more.

GO HAWKS!!!
