Raise Taxes!
Mayor Daley said today he would support Gov. Quinn's call for a 50 percent increase in the state income tax, only if it's tied to property tax relief and only if the governor scraps a plan to withhold millions in income tax growth from cities.
Daley also demanded an infusion of capital funding to the CTA to ease pressure to raise fares and at least $200 million and pension relief for Chicago Public Schools to avoid classroom cuts and another local property tax increase.
The jobless rate in the Chicago metropolitan area spiked to 9 percent in February, up from 5.6 percent a year earlier, exceeding the nation's 8.1 percent rate and the state¹s 8.6 percent rate, the Illinois Department of Employment Security said Tuesday.
The area lost 126,400 jobs over the year.

What the mayo is afraid of is that Quinn wants to move the elections to warmer weather months. This spells trouble for your incumbents larger turn out of informed voters. Good for Illinois voters bad for Da Mayo and his group of phonies. Quinn will be the most transparent Gov in Illinois history unlike Da Mayo who constantly lies through his teeth.
Taking into account large portions of the South and West sides, I'd be surprised if Chicago's unemployment rate hasn't exceeded the State's rate for quite some time.

When I retired over 10 years ago I was a little sad that I left Chicago a moved south to another state . why are taxpayers subsidizing CTA riders so much as a nickle. raise fares to cover 100% of the cost.
Of course they want to raise income taxes, their "Reverend" friends don't pay income taxes and many of their constituents do pay taxes on the houses the city gave them.

Amazing this fucker thinks he can literally ORDER Quinn and Obama to throw even MORE money at the bankrupting CTA, and at the same time piss away MILLIONS OF TAX DOLLARS on expanding the CTA stops that make downtown look pretty.
I guess Arne Duncan trashed the CPS before his brilliant expertise was needed in Washington. He also said other cities in the US could benefit greatly if they simply leased their public holdings like Chicago has. He said, "No one would have to raise taxes or worry about money if they simply leased their assets."

Speaking of the South and West sides, now the rest of the city joins us with high unemployment and crimes that is why theses parts of town look as they do, abandoned buildings, garbage -this is truly crook-ville, Il.
