Restore the Roar

  • It had been great when the Blackhawks found their way from medieval times onto TV. It had been great when Hull and Esposito and Mikita were invited back. It had been great when President John McDonough reached out to fans in so many ways that you were sure he strained a few muscles.

But there is no greater marketing strategy than winning.

The idea Thursday night was that while the Hawks were in the playoffs, they might as well take advantage of the situation. Make themselves comfortable. Stay awhile in this best-of-seven series.
We aren't complaining.

the hawks stole a game they had no business winning. khabibulin was the difference as well as a ferocious forecheck and backcheck. mike keenan, your table is ready in the losers lounge. the flames are a good team with great talent on both sides of the puck, but if khabibulin keeps standing on his head, this thing might be wrapped up in calgary on wed.

There's nothing better than playoff hockey. For those who are oblivious or think hockey is too complicated, you're missing out on the greatest sport in the world.

GO HAWKS!!!

Again, best of luck to the Blackhawks.

Flyers are down in the series against Pittsburgh 2-0. I haven't completely given up hope, but I'm slowly getting there.

Being a Philadelphia fan, I should be used to the disappointment by now. *sigh*

From a citizen troller: I was watching the game last night thinking about all the Bill Wirtz years. Yeah, I bashed him for the last decade or so just like everyone else. Like the Wrigleys and then the Trib ruined baseball, he ruined the hockey franchise in this city. But as I sat down for the game, another sell out, I was thinking about Bill. He didn't plan it but fate did. When he died, Rocky took over and things changed to what they are now. And I now have to think that in the end, Bill Wirtz DID do something good for hockey in this town. He showed Rocky the way.

If the whole 'sponsor' program is a wash how about letting citizens buy a ride along? We could break it down by half hour incriments. Say $30 a half hour or a package deal of wear a vest, carry a radio and even issue a ticket or two for $120: this would be a four hour adventure.

I think people would jump on this and we could generate more funds to help the department. We could increase the amounts for faster districts or ones that have better eye candy/restaurants.

I'm just tring to give the mayor viable options. It's more public venues he can rent, lease or sell outright. I know what yoou're thinking; "what about the liability issues?" That's the beauty of it. The mayor can have participants sign a waiver in which he can tax them on. It's brilliant! Just trying to do my part.
