Complaints with a Purpose

Someone posted the following in the comments with a whole bunch of name calling. We deleted it for the nonsense, but felt the need to address this part:
  • ....the superintendent gets you new tahoes, you bitch
    the superintendent makes the merit selections more open you bitch
    the superintendent gets a program going for the new M4s on the street, you bitch
  • blah blah blah, you whiny no good overpaid blah blah blah
Listen up asshat - the superintendent bragged about how he got us new vehicles. He took credit! Now in actuality, he probably had very little to do with the contract to purchase these vehicles, but if he wants all the glory, he gets all the grief with it. We've had a bunch of letters from 007 about their 3 Tahoes going down for the same transmission problem. 011 lost at least one Tahoe for leaking during a rainstorm. We're still sorting through the rest of the mail, but it isn't an isolated incident.

The "merit" process is more open? The only thing that changed is that we don't have to play "Spot the Clout" anymore when a list comes out. The Department still doesn't define what "merit" is, the same people are nominating the same hacks for the spot, it's still who you know or who you blow. How is that an improvement?

And we still haven't seen an rifle on the street. All the Tahoes are being delivered without rifle racks. It's all smoke and mirrors.

One has to remember Clara Peller (or the Keesing Bandit) and ask, "Where's the beef?" Because we're getting a whole bunch of bread here and nothing of substance.

SCC, I have a better one to all the p.o.'s that were at one of the first town hall meetings at HQ should remember this one. This is the meeting where Bella slammed the Weisel about Cozzi and a copper slammed him that in-car cameras weren't being used to exonerate p.o.'s on bogus C.R's.
Remember when an officer asked why weren't we allowed to carry tasers and the Weisel said he had no problem letting carry them and said he had the department purchase them. He then passed the the ball to the bar maid Cuello and asked her what was the progress on the tasers.After a look of OH SHIT came over her face, she said that she recalls the department ordering around 4,000 but would have to get back to us with an exact number. Hey fucks its been almost a year from that meeting and I am still waiting for my taser. Another fucking lie from the guy. Anyone else remember this?

When all is said and done, this puppet of a Superintendent does nothing more than move according to the direction of the Puppetmasters hand from City Hall that is stuck right up his ass ! ! !

J-Fed is being paid a double salary to take the heat that all Superintendents must face for failures of their decision making in the Department, AND to allow and cover up for the meddling in this Department from City Hall.

BUT in addition to this, he is doubly paid and is DOUBLY RESPONSIBLE for ignoring all the shadowy activity going on right under his nose by the Daley Crime Family.

If there is any justice in this world, our children will look back at this era of Chicago politics remembering that Richard M. Daley and George Ryan died in prison, and former Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis was indicted as a co-conspirator in an ongoing criminal conspiracy conducted by the Mayor and his operatives.

What kind of man would be willing to sell his integrity and every principle he has ever stood for to run interference for this Mayor ???

Jody is either naive,(not, he's been a government employee his whole life!) stupid (maybe but he is educated) or a willing participant in this cesspool. In any scenario, he is part of the problem and should try to summon up whatever integrity he has left and walk away into retirement.

OT - FYI - M4 Rifle RacksJust attended a staff meeting.

The responsibility for which cars and how many (within a unit/district) get the rifle racks has essentially been delegated to the W/C.

W/C writes a report as to which car needs the rifle rack and why (i.e. officer so-and-so has been certified, etc...). report goes through channels and at some point the designated car will be downed and sent for rifle rack installation.

New cars WILL NOT automatically be equipped with rifle racks and need to go through the same process.

I imagine this is a cost issue.

To whoever the pussy is who wrote that comment, I can't think of anyone who wanted a Tahoe. Not one. Especially with an underpowered V6 and RWD, we be better off with Toyota Priuses or a cta pass for god's sake. Secondly, I don't know anyone who currently carries an m4 due to all the bs involved in attaining one and third of all it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out who the merit selections are why they are so whats the point of making the selection process more open, the end result is still the same, clouted unit members. As far as being over paid, the fireman who was pictured carrying the dead child from the fire at queen of angels who passed away the other day, do you think he was overpaid? Do you think that we don't experience tragedys like that? Do you think a day went by that he didn't think of that kid, even after he retired? Is there an industry standard wage that would cover such an experience. Grow up, we the first responders witness and carry these experiences with us forever so that you the citizen don't have to. But if you think you can do better, take the test and get hired on this job.

Sorry, but Jody made two major mistakes at the onset of his time here that RUINED HIM FOREVER him as a leader for this Department...

FIRST, after Bill Cozzi was down and after he had done his time and was apologetic and repentant but cleared by the Police Board to return to duty, J-Fed slapped him like a handcuffed man in a wheelchair... IF IT WAS WRONG FOR COZZI TO DO THAT, IT WAS WRONG FOR JODY TO DO IT, ALSO.

SECONDLY, with nary a question or an interview, Jody gutted the very heart of this Department by figuratively firing a large part of our exempt members (most of whom at least had a clue as to how to run a Police District) and replaced them with a goodly number of Assclowns whose only REAL qualification was that they were Jody Weis's girls instead of Phil Cline's guys. Its not that I feel bad for the Exempts. They got to leave with their gold braid pensions!. But how STUPID are you when you have to hire them back as a consultant to handle a police operation because there is no one left on your staff who knows what to do ? ? ?

Um I can see what a big impact these rifles are haing with very few mounts in the cars. The mounts in the trunks will take way too long to get to thats a terrible idea. I've noticed most of the districts have their m4s locked up in the radio room. Several citywide units are now carrying them on the streets but if sh!t jumps off in an area where these units aren't working it's going to take too long for them to get there.

Tahoes have a serious security and officer safety issue besides the mechanical problems I wont spell it out because i dont want to give bad guys any ideas.

Thanks alot j-fed for halfassed plans but as they are now they suck. Get the guns on the street, put the mounts on the roof inside the cars, and fix the mechanical and security issues with the tahoes.

I see the numbers in patrol dwindling. This department is a wreck and the future does not

Jody Weis has done nothing for the Chicago Police Department that could not have been done better by most of the exempts that he fired. He came into this job doomed to fail from day one because he was ill-prepared to lead a police agency, period!

His expertise was from the FBI. Their mantra is 'if you need an extra few months to close the case, take it'. Through no fault of their own, FBI agents are generally not prepared for the fast paced world of urban policing. And, just as the danger to the front line officers is quick and unforgiving, so is it for the Superintendent who is on a stopwatch to answer for the officers in a quick and timely manner by the mayor, the city council, the media and the officers themselves.

Unfortunately for us, Weis's legacy in this Department will consist of other great leaders of men like Burger Queen, Aunt Bea, The Mealerman, Rick Flair, Airport Ellyn, Walsh & Welch, and a bunch of other Bozos!

Cheer up ! With morale at a level below the Deep Tunnel Project and the inspired leadership of the down syndrome administration put together by J-Fraud, things have no where to go but up ! ! ! !

I say we declare ourselves the Police Political Party. That way we can do the following.
During a traffic stop or other police citizen interaction you can take political action money instead of taking enforcement action.
You can vote yourself whatever raise you want and let the silly taxpayers worry about what it will cost.
M4's for everyone and a CPD Tahoe in every PO's garage.
If you work out of grade, even for a part of a tour, you can add significantly to your pension.

Give us rifles we scream, and then people cant pass the power test and bitch. it is what it is. Then you have the guys who have passed and gone thru the class and never sign them out, actually against general order. order states, if you have rack and are qualified, you WILL sign one out, its not optional. wonder how many State laws were broken or circumvented to make that happen?

Today, 16 April is the 1 year anniversary of Mike's hiring. Is he on probation? Any other recruit would have been fired doing the things this idiot has done. How about the Pedestrian he hit? I hope that doesn't cost the city too much.

upon reflection....it's a good thing that:
1) CPD manpower is equitably balanced, so that districts don't have to be in "backlogs" (i.e., callers wait forever, sometimes never seeing the police) for hours, days, weeks, or months at a time;
2) CPD personnel is fairly appropriated, so that personnel are not overcompensated in office or make-work jobs, while the field units are understaffed;
3) "merit" promotions are defined, so that employees know the rules in advance;
4) exempt promotions and assignments are awarded to those who are the best and brightest, and who are among the highest in personal and professional character, integrity, experience, and intelligence, with no compensation for political or organizational connections;
5) the CPD has available the best performing and most reliable computer, radio, and vehicular equipment;
6) the Supt. and his staff are the best informed, most intelligent and competent individuals, capable of leading the CPD in its mission, devoid of any external or internal political interference or influence...

Department of Homeland Security Report and the hatred of Napolitano:

I just read the DHS report. I'd urge anyone who wants to comment on it credibly to do so, as well. Speaking as someone with over 30 years of federal law enforcement experience, I have to say that it's an appalling report that profiles vast number of individuals--veterans, gun owners, those who oppose illegal immigration, and others--as likely recruits, willing to engage in terrorism against the United States.

Not only is the report incredibly useless to anyone in law enforcement, it is clearly aimed at demonizing those whose political viewpoints may differ from the current administration's. It is not worthy of being deemed a legitimate piece of law enforcement work. Rather, it is a clumsy, heavy-handed manifesto, aimed at bolstering what Ms. Napolitano may view as the Administration's political agenda.

It's bad--really bad--when politics drive law enforcement. Napolitano should resign.

This is very scary stuff people.

The Young Republicans sponsored
the Tea Party. They were pretty doggone quiet about burgeoning Govt. the last 8 years, What Gives?

If you think that report by the DHS is flawed, wait until you see the memo ceasing all Immigration arrests for any reason. That asshole Napolitano should be a manager at a Wendy's and not running the DHS. Our country is fucked if this is who can make decisions.

The only truely honest ADS in the merit process is Howard Lodding. The ADS set an e-mail to everyone in the academy who his merit selection was and why he selected this person. He also praised all other 21 applicants. His selection of this officer is based on some impressive quification along with his high work ethics. No officer can beef about Loddings openess in this process. This was done with professionalism and class.

And NOT ONE staff member would say it was the wrong choice.
Good Luck to L.S.
And a big thanks to the ADS for being up front with the staff.

Commander Carter from 004 did a similar thing. I can say I joined in on the locker room talk, but I did take the chance on interviewing for his submission. After talking to him, I realized he is a descent guy and I am not afraid to say I added some things that were totally un called for. I am man enough to admit it. I listened and repeated, nothing I believed or said was via first hand knowledge. After talking to him for about an hour, I realized how cool and down to earth he is. I also realized he is just kind of shy for lack of a better term. If more bosses were not afraid to pick based on merit instead of going with who they are directed to put in, maybe the process would be a hell of lot more legitimate.

I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks or adds, I am not a kiss ass. We have never seen this in 004 before, so thanks Commander Carter. You didn't pick me, but thanks for the opportunity.

Doesn't surprise me. Lodding is a good guy. He is heavy but good for him - thats how the game works. He is still approachable and doesn't think he he is better than everyone else. And he actually put some time in on the street before going up. I'd like to see the same openness shown here become the regular way things are done but I know it will not happen.

Look in the "Secure Storage" closet and and you will see five of them. Each has an orange plastic device in the breach to signifiy that there is NOT a round in the chamber. In the Roll Call room there is a device for safely unloading the carbines.

Now if we can just get the carbines, into the right hands, loaded, at the right time at the right moment...

I got a question that's OT sort of:

What is the Deal with you guys and the Rush Street (Viagra Triangle) Valets?

I saw a Couple uniforms the other day interfering with a Revenue asshole that was trying to cite for No Flashing Lights.

I saw the same problem on Deleware with a half dozen cars in the South side Tow Zone...

Someone getting a free lunch or hotel room for their Badge Bunny, and want to share?

Why not help the media "trolls" asshat jealous fuck!! Hope revenue tickets your cars!!

Been on furlough and just seen the merit request in CO book. So much talk coming from the know'it alls about their clout and being made.

These guys work in side units and have not made a case report in over "TEN YEARS", yes that's TEN years! Let alone how to read one!

I wish you well Officers because the clout switched from one ethnic group of special needs to another!

What happened to the openess of the merit process! But then again Chicago was born on the classic back room deals uh! Jody!

If you think about it our Supt. of police is almost ineffective in that everything he does has to be approved by the Mayor,hence the first major hurdle that has to be cleared is seperating the police department from the Mayor,secondly seperate the police budget from the Mayor so there won't be any retaliation from the Mayor onto the police Supt. if he "DOES NOT PLAY HARDBALL" to the Mayor's liking and third set up a trully independant police board like L.A has that cannot be controlled by the Mayor.No plan is 100% full proof but,however it does work better than the system we currently have because way too many "HANDS ARE IN THE COOKIE JAR" because the aldermen/women can make a phone call to the Commander of a district and can enfluence what happens in a district to the detriment of the citizens for example: in 011 they are still doing these soo called "Ward" mission which bascily says "I'M THE ALDERMAN AND I WANT THE POLICE TO DO WHAT SAY AND WHEN I SAY DO IT OR ELSE",they do these mission's no matter what backlog in a wrap it does not matter.There is a need for all this overenfluence to stop because it is almost to the point that if you really think about it we don't need a police Supt. because he/she only serves one purpose: someone to blame when something goes wrong or does not go the way the alderman wants it to go,hence the need to seperate the police department from the Mayor and the aldermen/women.Please don't tell me because this is Chicago it won't work because there is a model out there that can at least be looked at or "TWEAKED" to the satisfaction of the people,but in order for it to be implimented it has to be brought to the attention of the citizens of Chicago.Beleive me if you bring it to there attention the people will think it is a very good idea.Just imagine that if the Mayor "SICK" the media on the police Supt. he can call the Mayor to the carpet and tell him if he has a problem with him (the Supt.) he can at least address it to him like a decent human being would do and not send one of his lackies to do it.The next time an alderman calls a district Commander and demands that a certain offcer who works a certain beat car (for years and the citizens of that beat like)be thrown under a bus because he/she did or did not do something the alderman wanted done the Commander politely tells the alderman to consult with the police board on that matter and see the police board advises him to mind his own business and send the proper requests through the proper channels.The Supt.'s position in it's current form is trully a puppet at this time.

Let me pose a question.

Seems to me that the first breach of trust with J-Fed was the Cozzi deal. I figure that he thought he had to make a show for the public that he was taking police misconduct seriously, given the media blitz on Jefferson Tap and Abbate, but didn't think (and his group of "advisors" didn't have the sense to tell him) that the rank and file would see it very differently.

It seems to me that whatever he does, he's not getting past this point because no matter how many times he says he'll support POs, no one believes him.

I thought at the time he needed to admit that he made the call to the feds about Cozzi, acknowledge that was a mistake and apologize. So this is my question, had he done that, would people here have given him a second chance? And now that all this time has passed, would it make any difference to you if he did it now?

I don't know him or anyone who talks to him so I'm not trying to get answers for him. I've read about some research with doctors and how malpractice suits go down when docs apologize for mistakes to patients/families. I'm just curious if the power of apology would have worked here. What do you all think?

You mean an apology, AND all charges against Bill dropped, AND reinstating Bill, with a grade bump for his troubles?

That would be a start.

Wasn't at the meeting, but the tasers were put on hold when people started dying from taser shots. Tasers arent PC, so don't expect them til weis leaves.
