- Ok Scc....Here are the totals for the city in Agg Batts with ONLY handguns for the periods of 19 June-26 June....one full week....I have 108 persons shot and 7 homicides.....That is what I counted off of my blackberry...Bring on the Olympics!!! Zone 8 was like a frigging war zone last night (25 June) there were 4 persons shot in something like 5 mins....and the calls of man w/gun or shots fired were unbelievable!!! I am telling you....108 shot in a week...you do the math as far as how many per day , hour etc.....We live in a war zone...
With knives? Not there. With blunt objects? Nope. Vehicular assaults? Not a one. Just 108 people with more holes in them than they started the week with.

Clearly the gun ban da mare is so ardently defined (with our tax dollars) is working, just not in the way you would think.
With 108 shot and only 7 dead, clearly the bangers are piss-poor shots. Credit for this goes to the Chicago ban and the new Cook County restrictions for keeping them out of the shooting ranges.
Fewer opportunities to practice shooting for accuracy means fewer homicides. Sure, a few kids will get caught in the inaccurate "hail of bullets" approach to shootings, but that's acceptable collateral damage.

OT(sort of): I posted the other day about the fat bitch at 7121 s. Normal wishing the police harm. It was a typo. It was actually 7421 s. Normal. My typing mistake. The 9 yoa that was killed lived almost DIRECTLY behind this address. Gerald Lauderdale, who was one of the two people charged in the homicide, was hanging with these pieces of shit that night. He kept yelling from the porch "I ain't got no job bitches! Fuck ya all." I guess payback is a bitch. Not to insult the memory of an innocent 9 yoa, but this family didn't want us around because they wanted to continue their ghetto thug lifestyle. Breeding, drinking, screaming till 6am and contributing NOTHING to the world. Now, due to fear of retribution, fat mama had to turn her kid in. They HAD to turn to the police to protect this POS. Had to turn him in so that she could continue her useless life of police hating all the while while NEEDING the police to protect him from her fellow thugs who she associates with. Irony may be a word to describe this situation.
And, as a side note to this story, there was a burglary to a business at 350 W. 75th Street on 27jun at approximately 5am. Owner was in fear of his life due to threatening messages from the hood. Owner would not talk to officers onscene but sent an associate to scene to survey the damage. This business is located within a half block from where the child was killed. Onscene, the associate stated that the owner used to live at 7419 s. normal, but had moved due to a threat from a certain individual on 74 and stewart who was pissed because he was feuding with the neighbors at 7421 s. Normal (sound familiar?) and since he lived next door, he must be siding with the block. These theats got so bad that the owner moved fearing for his safety and has been looted eversince. Who were the fat bitch and now-arresstee feuding with: a man named Andre Turner. Who is Andre Turner? The father of the dead child.
In summary, ghetto pieces of shit taunt the police but then turn to said police to protect them. Andre Turner threatens the hood and businesses owners and gets shot but is a sympathetic figure to Fr. Faker and the media. War breaks out between both parties. Who pays for these adults living the ghetto life of acting like 6th world animals: an innocent 9yoa. Pathetic
The sad part is that even at this pace we are slightly behind lasts years numbers. It is finally getting hot and the rain has slowed. the first 51/2 months were cold and rainy this year saving the city. Please be careful out there guys back each other up. Drive safe and write reports for everything. Go home to your familys at the end of the day thats all that matters. Gun Control "works" in Chicago
Courtesy of Second City Cop, we learn that Chicago had 108 people shot in the week of June 19-26, 2009, with 7 homicides. It seems that the Chicago handgun ban for law-abiding citizens is working very well, after all, it wouldn't do for any of the gang-bangers to run the risk of a victim shooting back at them. One thing noted in the comments section is that the CPS "honor students" doing the shooting aren't very good shots. However, most of the victims seem to be members of the same subset as the shooters and not a great loss to society. The problem is that innocents like a nine-year-old girl staying with her grandmother and her gangster father for part of summer vacation get shot and killed because the animals on the street don't really care who gets hurt.
Next time the reverends, like Jesse Jackson and Father Pfleger, get "up in arms" about CPS "honor students" and young people "just turning their lives around" dying in the streets, perhaps they should protest against the culture of casual violence, not talking to the "po-leeses," and hostility to the police in the neighborhoods like Englewood where this seems to happen most.

If Suarez is actually saying that then the guys in 025 better listen up. I worked in 025 and I can tell you without hesitation that Suarez was the BIGGEST pain the ass I ever saw. He contantly called either the DC or the WC demanding this or that. I don't think I ever met a more arrogant, egotistical jackass in my life. The only guy that ever put him in his place and wouldn't even talk to him is a since retired Lt.on the 3rd watch. They both hated each other and it was fun knowing that Suarez was on hold while whoever asnwered the phone told him that he would find the Lt. Of course the Lt. was usually about five away from the person that answerd the phone. But Suarez was made to wait about 10-15 minutes before the Lt. picked up the phone. Suarez was steaming by then of course. I mean this guy would call for EVERYTHING. He would call and ask us to write parkers on the 3000 block of N Cicero Ave. but to NOT write tickets on the 3100 block of North Cicero because those guys were big contributers to his re-election campaign. I found him to be particularly amusing when he would call and demand that we go to a house and tell them to turn that "damn Mexican music down". Of course he never,ever heard the loud Puerto Rican music, probably because he is Puerto Rican. Every Mexican family were dope dealers and why weren't we doing something about it he would say. I will give him credit for one thing though. For a guy that used to be a hotdog vendor at Wrigley Field, he sure has come a long way,lol.

OK, now digest the following. Per a CNN report, Dr. Gupta (not the weight loss Dr.) discovered that a trauma patient that is brought to the ER at Christ Hospital has a
96% chance of survival. Christ Hospital is the only trauma center on the south side.
This trauma center is doing a great job, but at what cost? The majority of these Agg Batt victims/offenders are patched up and repeat. What percentage of these patients have insurance? The answer is very few if any. What's funny is that these so called patients receive patient satisfaction questionaires. And they actually fill them out and send them in. So in reality, Christ Hosptial is trying to satisfy non-paying, piece of shit gang bangers!

OT, great job done by the men and women of 012 on Friday night dealing with the Copwatch protest across from the FOP hall. The officers demonstrated restraint and professionalism. Copwatch did what they could to precipitate a confrontation, albeit in rather poorly. By the way, is there a prerequisite to join copwatch that you have to turn in all your soap, shampoo, hairbrushes, and deordorant?
C'mon people. You have to start taking target practice. We need more homicides. We can exceed last years by 200-300 if you really try. Let's go we want to be #1 so Daley and Weis can be proud.

When we were hunting Moose in Alaska, we were flagged to stop by an officer standing in the middle of a dirt road north of Willow. He walked up, looked in the truck. There were 2 loaded rifles and my buddy was sporting a 44 mag. Only thing he told us was to make sure we were 1300 feet from the road when we shot, have a good one, and good luck. Never blinked and eye. Told the wife, you die, I'm gone.
Oh yea, their Governor likes policemen. She offered to hire any Michigan State Police who were laid off.
Something isn't right here. So here I am, a law abiding citizen, unable to defend myself with a handgun even in my own home. Since the law says I cannot, I do not. Why is it that people are still dying in the streets? Could it be that criminals do not obey laws, and prefer unarmed victims?
...and as you mentioned earlier, SCC, there seems to be some question as to whether or not victims shot in robberies are counted as "shooting victims" (I mean, who the hell are they?)

I have handled robberies where the victim is shot ....and I can tell you that I personally do nothing special in the supps that would notify anybody, anywhere in the department, that there was a person shot - unless of course someone downtown reads the narratives of the robbery. Don't get me wrong, the fact that someone was shot is not hidden in any way, it is just that the IUCR remains robbery/armed - and that;s it. If you ran it in ICLEAR under a 041A IUCR you would not find that robbery - and I am supposing that is how the city tally's the shootings.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that Robbery victims are NOT counted as shooting victims. That means if you are robbed and shot, or attempt robbed and shot (031A or 033A) it is NOT counted as a shooting by the bean counters. And 041A's get changed to Robberies all the time. Here endeth the lesson.

This is a great point.
Robbery (UCS 03..) are higher than Agg Battteries (UCR 04..). People shot in robberies are absolutely not counted as people shot. Those numbers only come from 041A UCR codes.
BUT...you had better notify the D unit and Operations Command if you have someone shot in a robbery.
Just so you know, the city has to lay off EVERY civilian before they lay off a policeman of fireman.
We certainly could aford to lose a couple of Alderman.
21 - 041A's. 3 - 0110's on June 21st.
not even last year had a day with that many 041A's pulled. The most last year was 18.

You must be a new detective. Here is how you find them. Every single case that is entered into the system has method and CAU Codes. You search for the Method Code 400 in your search and you will find all of your shootings. You will find every single one. Method Code 400 and 487 is person shot and person shot domestic respectively. If the code is not entered it is caught later and must be put into the system. Stop all the paranoia.
You will find people shot during robberies, sexual assaults, police shootings, and any other cases where people are shot.
They are easy to find.
I have said this before on here and nobody pays attention. The shootings are tracked for the love of God. All of them.
OK, now digest the following. Per a CNN report, Dr. Gupta (not the weight loss Dr.) discovered that a trauma patient that is brought to the ER at Christ Hospital has a
96% chance of survival. Christ Hospital is the only trauma center on the south side.
This trauma center is doing a great job, but at what cost? The majority of these Agg Batt victims/offenders are patched up and repeat. What percentage of these patients have insurance? The answer is very few if any. What's funny is that these so called patients receive patient satisfaction questionaires. And they actually fill them out and send them in. So in reality, Christ Hosptial is trying to satisfy non-paying, piece of shit gang bangers!

I have a story for you. During physical therapy at Christ hospital witnessed a little banger who had been through an eight month rehab for almost dying (gunshot wounds) from a drive by. Looked to be about 18/mexican. His entire family was there to see his progress. His OT who worked with him the entire time is helping the kid get ready to stand up and stands back. The kid gets up, steadies himself and then throws down gang signs and his whole family starts cheering! The look on the OT's face was priceless. Complete shock and disbelief. And by looking at the family, if you added up every single one of them you probably wouldn't have gotten a six grade education. It was fucking disgusting.
You must be a new detective. Here is how you find them. Every single case that is entered into the system has method and CAU Codes. You search for the Method Code 400 in your search and you will find all of your shootings. You will find every single one. Most dicks don't even know that page exists in the CHRIS system AND those are not the numbers that are searched by Media Affairs or the Superintendent's Office when they shoot their mouths off about the number of crimes in this city. They may be the numbers they report to the Dept of Justice, but they're not the numbers they give the media. This department uses homicide and agg batt numbers off case reports because those numbers are publicly available for the media.
Homicides are always re-classified by IUCR code, so the department cannot hide delayed fatals or death investigations that turn out to be murders. But, agg batts are another story. This includes cases where additional shooting victims are part of a homicide report...those "shootings" are not included in the numbers.
Very often living shooting victims in a homicide case are added to a CHRIS report as "Additional Victims," so they do not even classify as the victim of a crime, let alone a person shot.

I've been a det for 10 years, But the condesencion has not gone unnoticed. You really think CMO puts in those codes? Really? It is possible sure ... for some of them, IF they happen to read the report and see there was a person shot. So, sure, it is possible ... I guess.
But I can tell you that I have never been told to mess with the codes in my supps .... and I don't ....ever.

Aira generated case reports are being done in a new system called incident based reporting vs. summary based reporting. The paper generated reports are summary at first but once given to dicks they become incident based.

I find this interesting so excuse me for belaboring the topic.
I understand what you are talking about regarding homicides but I still have a problem with the robberies … I am still not convinced the robbery victims who are shot are “caught” by CMO. Sure for a homicide with one dead and 3 others shot the det will list the victim’s separately on the associations tab … I agree on that …and if you say the city counts the shootings victim based on this then I’ll take you at your word as I have no reason to doubt you. But robberies are different … maybe I’ve been doing it wrongly for 10 years but when I get to the associations ‘tab’ – I associate the victim with the robbery only and not the agg batt/ handgun. What if a robbery victim gets punched in the nose – are you supposed to then associate him with the simple battery too? Sorry to get so specific and detailed here but I will. Are you supposed to list the victim twice on the association tab – one for robbery IUCR and one for simple battery IUCR? I don’t think so.
My point was not to say whether I was doing it properly or improperly but moreso just to say I DON’T do it that way – for robberies. Not that there are too many robberies where the victim is shot – but there are some. Technically a sexual assault is higher UCR-wise than an agg batt so I guess you would run into the same problem with that.
Anyway for a homicide you are most likely right. But for robberies – I don’t see CMO going over every case report with a fine-tooth comb looking for whether the victim was shot. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
And you talk about AIRA generated case reports. Are you saying patrol when they do these reports have to check a box or something to ‘officially’ indicate a victim was shot? So if a robbery victim is shot patrol has to input the 400 or 487 code signifying that the victim was shot during this robbery? Well if patrol misses that box then I, as a Det, also miss that box. Just saying.
I've commented elsewhere on this site about the attitude that cops have special privileges above and beyond non-badged citizens with regards to firearms.
I'm therefore bound to say, I'm pleased, encouraged, and even a little chastened to see so many comments here attacking Daley's victim disarmament laws.

You Second City Cops facing this on the streets, dealing with it every day, you're doing work I couldn't do. The temptation to want to keep honest citizens disarmed must be enormous. Here are some of the major problems facing IUCR codes:
not all robbery shooting incidents have code 400- that has been proven- specifically in Area Two.
You have, so far about 11 agg batt incidents in Area Two that became homicide Incidents, the code was chNged to 0110 But they are also listed as Agg Batts.
Also, the numbers coming from HQ do include all shhoting incidents , inuding robbery / person shot, etc... They mainly use the Major Incident notifications for that.....but theirnumbers are also off...If you compare the 5 areas I. One month to their # you will see it... Even a week.
Last thing:
For you Dicks out there: if some shithead accidentally shoots himself And admits to doing it, then why the Fu#< you still list it as Agg Batt? And then the stupid MF is not charged with anything. ....just like when we catch someone shooting at someone else, we catch him- he's only charged with agg assa or agg batt....victim- shithead does not want to prosecute and then offender RWOC...offender never charged with Agg discharge or UUW.. this happened Twice so far on two cases of mine...
