Finally, they made a promotion that makes some kind of sense. Georgas was in SOS, TRU and the Marine/Helicopter Unit. It certainly makes sense that he would get Special Functions. Like the guy or not, he does have the experience of his command. Hopefully, he will now correct the things that were wrong with all of these units in the past.
Eric Washington has been nothing but a prince since he took the reigns in 011. He went out of his way to remember every P.O.'s first name I've ever seen him converse with. He was approachable and often asked P.O.'s their input on a variety of things affecting the district. In short, he WASN'T a jagoff AND he knew what he was doing.
Whose brainstorm was it to declare him in any way responsible for the crime rate in 011? I believe the stats (if they haven't been doctored in any form) show the 011th District in the 2nd-place spot for activity. It's not like he hasn't made a positive difference since he got here.
Whoever is ultimately responsible for his demotion is truly an imbecile.

In all the districts I have been I have never once spoken to a commander other than to say hello on the rare occassion he passed me in the hall and said hello first. I never asked for anything. I never wanted anything from him. I never even wanted him to know who I was.
To all these poor souls who miss the old boss or hate the new boss, just remember. A dick is a dick. If you haven't already asked yourself why you're sucking it, why should you care whose dick it is?

CO Washington was at 1st watch roll call not a handful of days ago pretty much thanking us and seemed to show up to tell us to continue backing each other up and to be safe. Regardless of if he'd had a heads up at the time or not, I respected that, and him.

While I was never under your command per se, since I am detailed out. I have seen you many times in action in the 011th district and you sir will be missed. That's the thing J Dud doesn't realize you are the type of Boss that guys and gals would work for happily. You GOT IT you UNDERSTOOD the west side and police work. You knew the ins and outs of the area, the limitations and the abilities of those under you. Not once at all the places I have been where J Dud shows his mongrel head does he ever take time to say hello and shake hands. You always did. Knew both of his parents, they ran a hotel restaurant in 018 (Andrews), both were very nice and good people.

Please, the ADS spot he fortunately got also fortunately detailed qualifications that only he and one other commander had. It wasn't such a guess who was going to be the one chosen. It was really written for just any commander to have a chance.
I'm sure he's a nice guy and all. Its been said that he's been clout heavy since he got on this job. I guess you could look at his age and his rank to draw that conclusion or decide that he must be brilliant. Certainly people from 018 don't think the latter. Stay tuned to see where his buddy CK now gets moved. They've appeared to be tag team when it comes to promotions.

Commander Washington, it has been a previlege to work with you in 011. I have never had a boss who knew the first names of everyone under his/her command and was as nice and approachable as you are. You always stood up for us and we are grateful. And to the higher up who used an excuse of 7 mutts getting shot to get your person a commander spot, shame on you. You just ruined a great place to work. And to this new boss, if you suck as much as they say, you will see activity go to nothing during your short tenure.
How much experience did JFED have at being the police and wasn't his first year here one of the worst in the history of Chicago? He received the first vote of no confidence ever in the history of CPD, we marched against this motherfucker and he is still here? Him and his sorry excuse for a police group are going to cost the city millions of dollars with the new "lets all shoot in the car and just aim for the passenger" rule. Why is he still in charge. The city is trying to get the biggest money maker in history and you have the biggest idiot leading CPD. This is true slow down I have experienced in 24 years. As anyone paying attention?

I only had a few experiences with her and each of those were with her degrading and talking down to officers like she was the barometer of effective policing. I doubt she ever worked the streets. Nasty attitude that is out to prove her superiority it seemed.

Finally, they made a promotion that makes some kind of sense. Georgas was in SOS, TRU and the Marine/Helicopter Unit. It certainly makes sense that he would get Special Functions. Like the guy or not, he does have the experience of his command. Hopefully, he will now correct the things that were wrong with all of these units in the past.

Third, the 'last name' comment. Many women mainþain their married name after a divorce; it's often easier to keep the name you've answered to for most of your adult life if you've been married for awhile. If you have young kids, it makes it simpler to have the same last name as your kids.
It's HER decision, you don't want to go there. Having worked with the previous Cmdr of 011 and the incoming one, I can say they are both highly respected and competent people, much moreso than the assholes pulling the strings of their careers.

5:48 PM. You are right, it wasn't merit. At that time it was called "standardization." People way out on the list were moved up so as to fill the number of minorities. Trahanas was over 1200 on the list in rank order and she was promoted with people who are 250 in rank order. If that had not used standardization, she would have been about 700 out when the list ws pulled. Call it what you want, it is still unqualified people being promoted either because of who they know or to pacify useless segments of the city's population becasue no politician has the balls to stand up to these worthless POS.

Wow. Right now I am sitting at home looking on the internet for another life because I am so tired and sad of feeling exactly like you described. I cannot believe how much I regret wasting my life as a chicago policeman for the exact reasons you mentioned. I've spent over 30 years on this job and was working in the ghetto before most of the cops on this dept were born. I worked in 015 and 011 when the CVLs were a "social organization" and had a storefront.
Here is a little history lesson. That was before FOP, before watch bids and taking one to central detention meant riding the freight elevator at 11/State.
We worked around the clock - all three watches, change day every 28 days ... TOGETHER! We had watch parties, cops were cops and the phrase "real police" meant something.
There are coppers in 018 that forgot more about police work than 90% of the bosses on this job have ever known.
