Those Pesky Contracts

Don't mean a thing to a mayor desperate to cover up years of financial mismanagement:
  • Mayor Daley says the City’s sister agencies are joining in the shared sacrifice designed to reduce budget shortfalls this year.

[...] that means more furlough days and budget cuts.

The Daley Administration is already demanding unpaid days off and spending cuts from all departments here at City Hall.

Now Mayor Daley says similar moves are being made at the Chicago Transit Authority, the Public Schools, the Park District and other agencies to the tune of nearly $19 million in additional savings.
So all of these agencies that settled their contracts when times were good? Shortshanks wants you to forget all those promises, forget those agreements, forget everything that occurred before and give him bushels full of money.

If their leaders have half a brain, they tell Daley to jump in the lake - they have signed contracts in hand. These are the organizations that have the City over a barrel.

This is so typical of the FOP and the City. Get used to this boys and girls no raise no retro.
The furlough days the other departments gave the City opened the door for this and now we are being forced to walk in the room.
When this contract is done we will not be receiving raises, we will not be receiving retro checks, we will be taking unpaid furlough days, and we will have made concessions to the City and received nothing in return.
These have not been negotiations but rather the City and the Mayor ramrodding their personal agenda down our throats.
Who has ever heard of contract that is done in bits and pieces?
I say make a proposal and let us vote on the proposal. Right now we should walk away from table because the City is not, and has not negotiated and good faith and let things sit for for another six months.
We need to present a UNITED FRONT, fuck the City they are "giving" us anything. 55 and out benefits them more than us, just as the watch adjustments do.
Where is the money we generate? Anybody who writes a ticket, seizes a car, or does anything to generate money for this City right now is making a huge mistake.
Together we can bring this city to their knees divided we stand no chance.

Look at the TV special on how they transform places like Michigan Avenue into a spectacular colorful garden.

Millions spent here for...Urbs in Horto.

And don't forget the $25 Million spent to rehab Buckingham Fountain.

And there's always lots of money for Richard M. Daley Park; it's just called Milleninum Park for the moment. Don't mind paying for that as I dodge potholes and never see a beat car in my hood.

The Olympic Committee love to see things like that. Why can't any news organization in the world find the bribes spent on them.

Speaking of waste and being in the boat. What is it with the letters from the law firm of Coghlan and Kukankos everytime there is a visit to the emergency room. I understand that the city wants to recover monies from actionable injuries but a private law firm retained to do so? Don't we have a corporation counsel? How much do these people make per letter sent, let alone what is their cut of any recovery. (Not to mention that the whole thing smacks of HIPAA violation....oh that's right, not only do we not have rights, neither do our families)

This is insane. When times were good Daley didn't offer to re-negotiate any contracts and share with city employees. Sorry Dicky boy its not happening when times are bad either. Nobody told you to spend all that money on your different ventures. If you were a CEO in the private sector, you probably would be under a federal investigation for your actions. For sure you wouldn't have a job. I've been saying this for years, ever since he was voted best mayor in the nation, he must start answering questions about all the money thats gone and all these scandals. Most of the scandals include family and close Daley friends. Whats going on with his son Patrick and the nephew Vanecko? The sewer contract which reportedly they had to hire lawyers to defend themselves. Haven't heard a word on that and guess what we wont either. Im just fed up. Give us a fair contract!

I wonder if all these hard-charging, slick-sleeve Wonder Kids who've been voluntarily taking it in the ass-pipe for "the company" will receive their much-needed wake-up call when this contract turns out to be the worst the Department has ever seen?

Will the TRU, MSF and district tactical warriors finally open their collective eyes when our illustrious union breaks the bad news of no retro and possibly a handful of unpaid furlough days?
I can hear it now: "Whatya mean? I WON'T get retro money on all my court time?!?!?!

Being cajoled into performing police activity like circus seals for your alternative work schedule and "early ducks" is the equivalent of selling out, ladies. News flash: you're NOT elite, you're NOT special, the Department DOESN'T have your back; you are chess pieces in a (numbers) game being played by "bosses" who were NEVER the police as well as incompetent policy-makers. You are fools.

I hope to see many of you back in the districts shortly after the contract is settled; pissed-off and extra salty because you finally came to the realization that you were played, and played big time. I only hope that no one gets whacked too bad trying to be the police for an ungrateful department and city.

And maybe some of you glory hounds will find the balls to go up to that "Dog" old-timer who "doesn't know shit" and tell him/her just how right they were when they preached their knowledge and wisdom that fell on deaf ears.

Through our neighborhoods.

Did you see that chuck goudie Channel 7 report on that home owner who had a city sewer run under his property and had gotten shit from the city about it. He was mad as hell at Shortshanks and said so on TV. Homeowner all over the city, not just city employees are fed up with this meglomanical creep.

We need to get with all the other unions and get going door to door. Any candidate, black, white or purple to replace him will have to be better.

We need Kass,Mark Brown or anyone in the media with a set of balls to ask him why he and his aldercreatures have received 6% pay raises yearly even when Ritchie is forecasting all this doom and gloom and demanding everything from everyone except them.Their staffs have been receiving yearly 5% raises throughout also. Double standard? That's a huge understatement. This fucker is so used to having his cake and eating it too that he just doesn't care. Someone really needs to put that question to him. Of course he'll just get all red and shriek and either not answer the question or change the subject or mumble some Daleyspeak that doesn't make any sense.
