Olympic Backlash Begins (or Continues)

The "Town Hall" type meetings? Not going well for Shortshanks:
  • Chicago 2016 leaders gave their regular presentation Monday, telling a community forum in the city's Lakeview neighborhood that the Olympics would be a privately funded spectacle that would raise the city's profile globally.

But unlike a string of recent meetings, after the bid team put its best foot forward, it was immediately hit with counter-presentations from critics who fear that the Summer Games could gravely damage the city.

While bid officials hoped to allay fears particular to Lakeview residents, such as the impact of venue construction to a lakefront bird sanctuary and further congestion to a crowded neighborhood, they had to defend the bid from attacks on multiple fronts.
As more and more info becomes available, people are realizing that in the midst of an economic downturn, spending $4 billion that the city doesn't have, especially in light of Chicago's nasty habit of 100% or more in cost overruns, isn't really a good idea.

And it's looking like it's going to cost aldercreatures votes.

Back when the Stuttering Prick first told the IOC he would sign the host city guarantee to fully fund Chicago 2016 a few weeks ago, I immediately E-mailed Helen Schiller with my name and address and told her if she ever voted to fund ANY part of the NOlympics, I would furiously campaign for any candidate running against her. She never wrote back!

If we're as broke as the Irish Prick sez we are, conservative spending should be the rule.

In our financially depleted state, bringing the Olympics here is the equivalent of trying to extinguish the Chicago Fire by pumping gasoline on it!!!!

Where is the outrage???

On October 2nd, the best thing that could ever happen for our once great city, would be to have the Olympic bid go to Tokyo or anywhere else than here.

And on October 3rd, the best thing that could ever happen for our once great city, would be to find out that the entire aircraft carrying the Chicago 2016 Team were lost into a parallel universe over the Bermuda Triangle as they returned from the Olympic announcement, empty handed.

I certainly hope that this ends the careers of daley and company. These alderman have never stood on their own, they have rubberstamped everything daley ever wanted. daley has gotten away with so much over the years, everything that is a large scale "so called" development always had major cost overruns. We are not even out of the woods with O'Hare's unbelievable costs. I hope that this is the end of this current administrations political careers.

No one trusts the Aldermen or the Mayor anymore. It was getting bad for Daley before the meters and since then, there has been incredible trickle down onto the Aldermen. Anyone who has ever had political aspirations-this is the year to run for any office.
There are lots of smart, unemployed people out there. I have to believe that some of them could compromise their morals to run for office and help us out of the of horror of the past 20 years.

Being the sensible giving person that I am, in addition to assisting the Mayor with the debacle of Fleet Management and exactly who warrants a take-home vehicle, I will also assist in determining whether or not the City should pursue the 2016 Olympics.

I have determined that we should not!

That is all.

Thank you for this opportunity to serve you!

Now move along.

If chicago does not gdt the bid, look for shortshanks to blame everyone under the sun but himself and his bs plan!

That news conference will be a keeper for the video library. I'm sure his mussed hair will reach epic levels of disarray.

Set the vcr's kids.

WGN reported that the city is still 'on the hook' for a $650,000 bill charged to the Obama administration for his inagural party in the park...but expects full payment. Additionally, they have spent $2.2 million for security around his empty home and expect partial payment of $1.5 million....But don't worry, the city will not be left holding the bag with the Olympic sized expense in 2016!

I was at one of the meeting, they had a short Q&A sesion, so most of the folks could not ask the questionsthey wanted to. They swerved around the 30% minority set a side for the reverends and gang members. Funny, one guy wanted to ask about something for the Veterans, they made sure he was not given a mike!

Alderpersons = bag persons for Shortshanks. he can't carry all the money by himself.

He ought to enter the 100 meter dash, he needs all the practice he can get just in case the Feds get some Huevos & decide to prosecute him.

Wouldn't it be nice !!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know. There won't be room to park your Prius or SmartCar, either.

Jesus, Joseph, and Mary. Birds? What about the impact on the working poor of Chicago, who have been driven back and forth across the city as though with a giant scourge for more than a decade now as it is, thrown out of one apartment after another by "condominium" speculators?

The Olympics are just going to be another nail in the coffin of Chicago's middle class. There will be no one left here but bird lawyers and the illegals who mow their lawns and clean their houses...

When who "comes out with" these signs?

If you want to be the first one to put this sign in your yard, be the first one to get on the phone to the printer. I recommend high-visibility fluorescent green with stark, all-caps black lettering.

NO OLYMPICS

Everyone's talking, no one's doing, clock's running.

Once Daley took the meetings out of Bridgeport and other lackey wards, he got an earful! ESPECIALLY when his IOC folks tried explaining bs numbers to the accountants and attorneys up and down the lake front. I think Daley forgets that alot of Chicagoans have brians - they just don't use them on election day.
