Sunday Bloody Sunday

  • Seven people, including a 9-year-old girl, were shot within an hour-long span tonight in the South Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side.

The first shooting, which happened about 7:45 p.m. near West Monroe Street and South Lotus Avenue, left five males, ranging from 17 to 23, wounded. One of the victims was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Mt. Sinai Hospital, and another was taken to Loretto Hospital in good condition, said Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis.

The other three were taken in fair-to-serious or good condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Curtis said.

The totals for the day? How many shot on what turned out to be a very pleasant July day? Pleasant if you weren't getting stitched back together at one of our fine Trauma Centers that is.

The last shooting was on Midway Park and Mayfield. A block away from Jackie Heard's home. (Shortshanks press secretary.)

Don't forget that being stitched back together is courtesy of us taxpaying slugs. My taxed police salary supplemented by countless hours of Special Employment, court dates and part-time jobs. I only hope that the dregs of society get the best medical (and other) services my money can buy. It is, after all, their "birthright", isn't it?

I know it sounds shitty, but I honestly hope that more of these shootings result in fatalities. Being "eliminated" earlier rather than later in life for these animals means years that these bastards can't further drain resources that could be allocated to more deserving, appreciative and productive recipients.

If I'm going to be continually fucked out of my money through ever-rising taxes, I at least want a return on my investment. And there's not a chance in Hell that the majority of people in certain demographics will ever be able to justify their expense.

Boy, i'm sure glad these shootings weren't done with those LEGAL handguns. The piece of mind, I have in Chicago, to know if I am ever shot in the head, it will be from an ILLEGAL handgun! Dickey Daley also says the olympics are great for our city, so I believe him. I also understand why the CITY pays its OWN employees, to fix the parking meters, so the other company can remain profitable. He also is making sure the city workers arent left in the dark, and loose their jobs, when the company fires them, so they can bring in the lower socio economic workers, who will do it for 1/2 the current cost. Dickey Daley, also says changing a Chicago world renowned, landmarks name to the Big Willie, has a reflection on himself, Dickey Daley. I think everything he does is in our best interests.

Jody Wies has the MOST difficult job in Chicago. At 330 k a year, he could say, I will show dedication, and take a 200k pay cut. If the average officer makes 50k a year, thats 4 more officers on the streets.

Cone to think of it, Dickey and the Aldercrimminals? What do they make a year? I bet we can find a few HUNDRED jobs, if THEY take pay cuts.

Here we wonder, how a Man can build a city, and his kid can tear it down!!!

Thanks Dick

Amid the cries for federal intervention from Alderman Beale, Father Phleger and others, I couldn't help but to think back to the late sixties when the national guard was called out to quell urban unrest. Those communities railed against "the occupation" and wanted them and the local police out to solve their own problems. Forty years later, do they really want to call attention to their complete failure to do so? Change comes from within - rarely can it be imposed from without.

Our job has been taken away from us! We can no longer be real police officers. We are short about 4000 police officers, our bosses/mayor will not back us up, and everyone wants to sue us or make us out to be worse than the criminals. The media bashes on us and the public thinks we are all criminals thanks to them. I can't even imagine what Chicago would be like if this were a hot summer or if we had the warmth of Los Angeles all year round. Just back each other up and go home safe!

SCC PLEASE POST THIS:ALERT.....................................................Last night I was sitting on my deck when I heard the jumping of fences from down my alley. I looked to see 3 guys creeping N/B. One says, "Lets get back to the car", and another replies, "No, lets go check some more". They walked around to the street side and I came up the gangway to watch them. One approached a house across the street, another came up on my neighbors porch and the third to my front door simultaneously trying to get inside by turning the knobs and putting their shoulder into the door. I approached the guy on my porch and he flipped over the railing and fled. The other guys fled from the porches that they were on. They were so bold as to yell, "Try and catch me you #$&*(@". They doubled back through the alleys and jumped into a car near Birchwood and Osceola. This was around 12:30am hours on the 17th.I found out from the neighbor, whose house was also victimized, that her doorbell had been rung about a half hour before this. She never turned a light on. They may have returned shortly after to break in. My wife and kids were sleeping inside. Scary. I'm glad I was home. I called 911 and told them that 3 men were trying to break into houses including my own. What a poor response. I would have liked to document this. Looks like the emails reach us more efficiently anyway.I realize that people have to police their own neighborhood and that the police are only here to assist. But it isn't a secret that our neighborhood does not get the attention that our tax dollars deserve. Be careful. My house is well lit with motion detectors etc. They didn't care. A police report was not taken for this nor did a marked car show up for the 2 hours I sat outside following this incident. So I am spreading the news myself. Our police must still be getting detailed out. An unmarked car eventually showed up and told me they came all they way from Central/Addison. Applause to them for making the trip.I live on the 7500 block of Olcott Avenue and there have been recent burglaries in the area. The 16th district has always had a dont give a shit attitude, doesnt matter if your police. on same night, another call I believe 6000_6200 block of neva, called in by offduty po,no one comes up, goofy dispatcher doesnt assign anyone, just asks "is anyone availbale", someone gets on air says several cops live on said blocks, still no response. Heard po monitering zone not even working in 016 beats everyone to scene from 90/94 and finds 2 guys looking into residents cars(original call) how pathetic. stayed on scene for 15 minutes and only 1 016 car shows up. These are the cops in charge of watching out for our families while we are at work. what a Disgrace. dog or not, contract or not, help out our fellow fucking cops, if you cant quit your fucking job and go work at home depot. Riccio is the best, but unfortunately 80% of the people you command are useless and shouldnt be on this job, numbers arent much better for 017.

One of the problems is that on midnights they always down 1611 and the wagon has to cover that beat, but they send the wagon everywhere in the district. they will be at cicero/montrose and get the job on 1611 beat. Another problem is that the unmarked robbbery/burglary/theft car 1654 could not find a thief in county jail..they will not respond to any job unless it is assigned to them. they might have to make an arrest. They have orders to get all the curfews they can. 1613 wants to sit on redlights all nite and code out every job that he gets. Again check his arrest stats. 1612 goes to all of their jobs and handles them well, But will not respond to any job that is not assigned to them.1611,1613 are the hardest working cars on the watch..will respond to everything and look for the back guys. So all of us coppers who live up in the 10 sector must keep a good look out and have a fellow policemans cell phone handy to assist you,if you expect any anyone from midnights to arrive in a timely manner.

I'm ready to move out of 016. Tired of the 20 minute-plus response times to priority jobs in neighborhoods where police families live. I was monitoring 016's zone on the 4th of July. I'm sorry that happened to you. I work in 016 and have experienced the same kind of service in the past that you're talking about. It amazes me, some of the stuff that goes on up here.Fortunately for me I work with a bunch of guys who dont act like that. We would have done our job even with the limitations put on us. We do believe in protecting our own. We know this is not the place it was 10/15 years ago so we're trying to keep it safe for our families and yours.
Anyway, hope you never need to call the police again but if you do hopefully that shit doesn't happen again.

Yes, we need to patrol our own backyard more, that means that the Dist Cmdrs. in 016, 17, 18, 19, 20, etc..be aware that we police officers who live in these districts deserve just as many officers manning beat cars as in the ghetto districts. So what if there are "slow" nights in our very own hood, we need, nevertheless, the same amount of manpower. It's a shame that it takes 2 hours for a beat car to finally show. I'm not bashing the officers, but it just goes to show you how manpower stinks.

Just found out today that the 016 tact teams will be assigned to 015 from 1800-0400 hrs until further notice. So not only are the both gangs teams detailed out, now you also have the tact teams gone.
I recently stopped by 016 to visit and didn't recognized any p.o.'s working. I noticed a bunch of 025,015,014, and 011 p.o.'s who recently bid in. The reason I mention this is because these are the same p.o.'s that probably ragged about 016 coppers. Well guess what, now you have 3 yr wonders calling you out saying you are dogs. I guess you guys aren't living up to your criticism. Lets face it 016 is 30.4 sq. miles and is bigger than some major u.s. cities. We also don't have the manpower to go from one part of the district to the other. So to you guys complaining and harping about 016 bid in and show everyone how its done. But I am willing to bet that if you do, you will have some 3 yr wonder complaining on how you don't know how to be the police.

A Lt on fifth floor hinted it might have something to do with cleaning up the bloodbath for the Olympic commitee, meanwhile let the rest of the city burn! Sorry Austin.

O.T.- but funny

Yesterday, around lunch time, four Feds were parked up on the curb with their covert vehicles at the turn around by the North Ave Beach Boat House, flashing their shiny badges and pistols. I'm sure they were there to investigate the immediate area for beautiful bikinied bouncing bettys.

When along comes a crabby old timer copper. (1822 Days, I think) He comes by and gives em all sorts of shit and tells em them to move their vehicles or they'll be towed. Not only does he make them move, but it looked like he even double checked their credentials and ran their names on the radio.

Good job office.

They are not your friends or the real police and shouldn't be out their pretending to be, even if it's just to get some babes at the beach.

If they do not cooperate with investigation the county will not the bill. This a note to everyone out there, if you are called to a scene and the victim does not cooperate document this in the case report.

I've lived my entire life in 016 and could count on 1 hand how many street stops I've seen. Its F'n sad when you pull up all the arrests on a Fri or Sat night in 016 and there's 5 heads in lockup. That says alot!!!! I have alot of respect for Riccio, I've worked under him, but it has to be embarassing to him dealing with you do nothings. Were all in the same boat, SO PROTECT OUR OWN!!!!

Take it easy 16th district ranger, many of you dont have a clue about whats really out there, having spent your entire carreers in these retirement districts, but you love to talk the talk. what we mean is , THATS OK, just go to your fucking jobs, especially when a cop calls. I live in 016 and see you guys stopping the good working guy all day long, heck you wrote me 2 prkrs are christmas eve, but the shitbags drive thru/congregate unchallenged, are you afraid to fuck with people that might actually fuck back? Fix the problem now before its too late, again, ANSWER YOUR FUCKING JOBS, ACTUALLY GO TO THEM, AND TAKE CARE OF FUCKING BUSINESS!!!its ok if you dont want to do anything extra, but when someone calls 911,especially the police, and your pathetic ass gets the job, GO!!!!!!!if your going to blow it off, then quit and go work for obama. You guys are those guys that need their asses handed to them in the locker room.MAN THE FUCK UP, YOUR THE POLICE, AT LEAST SOME OF US ARE. oh, and by the way, im too embarressed to bid to 016, because I dont want to be associated with the type of so called cops that work there. and I would show you how its done, but ive seen your kind, you would still badmouth me, the real police. again, MAN UP, and stfu already. all these myths/rumours/stereotypes about 016 have been true since ive been on this job, 13years, Theyre all fucking True!! stop hiding behind your insecurities. im so sick of you pussies. And yes I am/was the ghetto police. dont ever put me/our kind, you/your kind and real police in the same sentence, DONT YOU EVER FUCKING DARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**********

If only it were that easy. Even if the city doesn't find a way to stick me with an ordinance violation or god knows what else, then I open myself to a civil suit in a cook county court, and we all know how that goes.
If we got a make my day law and strengthened the castle doctrine, that'd be a different story, but as it is we're walking suitcases for these ghetto shitheads.

What is the typical course of action when the police are called to a shooting involving civilians and it strongly appears that it was a lawful defensive act? I'm assuming even the victim (meaning, the one who defended himself) is apprehended pending further inquiry..but would he be charged, even if the gun was not registered? What if it was..does the City keep it?

Forgive me if I'm making incorrect assumptions but it appears that the deck is stacked against the law-abiding..whether it's us or you guys. It's like the animals are running the zoo.

I just love all these coppers that come on this board and bitch about coppers that work in 016 claiming that the guys that work in 016 are not the real police and that unless you work in the ghetto you are nothing. Let me tell you something young man, I currently work in the ghetto. My last two assignmnets were in the ghetto. But in the past I have worked in nice places and I can tell you this. I'll take a copper that works in a diversified area, in an area where he has to hunt for his arrests everyday instead of having them fall into your lap as they do in the ghetto, in an area where there is more to life that guns, dope and domestics all day long, any day. One of the best Officers this job has ever produced works in 016, Harold B. Did Harold stop being the Police simply because of where he works? I don't think so. What about some of the other guys that transferred into 016 from the ghetto? Are they no longer the Police? I'll agree, no one should work in a District like 016,017,anywhere in Area 3 before they put some time in at a fast district and I'll also agree that some of these guys in 016 need to step up to the plate and start being the Police again, but to condemn all coppers in 016 simply shows how ignorant you are.

Signed- A copper that works in 011 but is thinking of bidding to 016

Perhaps. There have been cars broken into around here as well, in well-lit alleys, mere feet from open bedroom windows. Whoever's doing it is really goddam quiet. I've seen shitheads with ghetto bass driving around Olympia Park too, around 10 at night. You can see the rims from a mile away!

I am stating what ive seen for the past 12 years living in the 016 district, get over it, There are a few good guys, but most of what ive seen with police service in 016 has been pathetic compared to what people get in other areas. Most people will back me up on this. ITS FACT, get over it and move on goof, a little thin skinned arent we? Post my name? for what, so you could insult me more for stating the truth, post YOUR name jagoff, your in denial. Grow up. police service in 016 has for the most part been terrible for as long as I can remember. accept it or dont if it makes you sleep better at night. Im not the only poster on this thread stating the facts. Your perpective seems to be in the vast minority though, Clue?

You must work in 017 or 016, you guys go to the ghetto for a couple days, then go back to your district and tell everyone how much it sucked, how you hated it, and then brag "yeah I was in 015 takin' care of business" maybe you should experience it for several years, but most of you know only those slow districts youve been in since day one. ghetto cops are a different breed from you guys, always will be. everyone should work the ghetto for a few years. Those that never have, well, I guess you were just too scared to. Thats the only theory I could come up with. truth hurts, Regards..

I think the best Policeman are those that work in areas that contain all different kinds of people. In the ghetto, all you do all day long are domestics, domestics, domestics, guns, and dope. That's it. Do one gun pinch, you can say you have done a million because they are all the same. Do a dope pinch, you can say you have done a million because they are all the same. No sir, give me a guy that has done it all, at least more than the "ghetto cop" will ever do.Dope and guns. No big deal. A monkey could do those. Give me a guy that can do 10-12 hour foot surveillances, give me a guy that can see a guy walking down a crowded street and predict that he will be his next arrest, give me a guy that can see that same guy, get out of the car and follow him for a few hours and then arrest him for the attempt robbery, burglary or theft from auto, THAT'S the kind of guy I want on my team or working in my neighborhood, not some "ghetto cop" that is an "expert" in dope pinches. My kid who is in grammar school can figure out how to make that kind of pinch. Don't take this the wrong way, but saying your a "ghetto cop" means you haven't had the opportunity to do real police work yet. Transfer into a district like 016,017,017,018,019 etc. and find out what real police work means. Districts where guns, dope and domestics are a small part of your day, where you do OTHER things besides that. Here's a clue. It doesn't mean working in an area where you are hated, where the taxpayer is a minority or where a person holding a job is looked upon as an oddity. If your as good as you say you are or should I say, as good as you THINK you are, then you will find success in one of those districts and THEN be in a position to rip other coppers. Until then, a little less posting please about a subject you are obviously not well versed in.
