Aha!

  • Chicagoans can now enjoy a new boat launch on the Chicago River, and it is named after the late mayor Richard J. Daley.

His son, the city's current mayor, was on hand for Saturday's dedication at 31st Street and South Western Avenue. He says his father loved to fish, and the new site helps fulfill a dream of his to see people fishing in the Chicago River.

  • “They’re not in the boat. We’re in the boat. ... They have to come back to the boat. ... We’re asking them to get back in the boat. Talk to your taxpayers. Talk to your neighbor. They have to be part of the solution and not part of the problem,” he said.
And Donahue's retort:
  • “It sounds to me like the mayor hit his head on the boat when he was getting in. We’re still in negotiations with the city. We negotiate in good faith. It’s up to the city to show us that as well,” he said.
Screw this place - we're going fishing.

Back in 2003 I read an article about ,money being approproated for said boat ramp which has just been completed, 6 years later. I havent seen this ramp, but being an avid boater, I can tell you this, a boat ramp and amenities does not take 6 years to construct. I wonder what the cost overruns came out to be.

Dear scc:
Please don't get in the boat, it's a trap. Don't ask me how I know I just do. And sorry the river is stinky, I wouldn't fish there either. Sorry I busted your bubble.

Someone please take that I'm on a boat song and photoshop Daley's face into it. It would be really fitting for all his on/in the boat analogies.

only a fisherman would be ''smart'' enough to eat anything out of that river or the lake. your poop would probably glow in the dark for a week.

As a "Parrothead" I'm always wanting to be on a boat!

You know, listening to some Jimmy Buffet! With some cool buds & tasty waves I'm fine.

Life is good and we'll never make an inkling of difference in how the "natives" live.

Let the West/South Sides ovens set on "Self Clean".

Keep your eye on the prize, whatever that is. Family, retirement, a move out of Crook County.

That ramp has been open for at least a year. And the first day that it was open, someone set a boat on fire that was tied to the pier. Classic. Other than that it is a really nice setup with tons of parking for the car and trailer. Unfortunately, burglary to auto is common there.

How much are they charging to launch a boat in that dirty river!

You get charged 20 bucks every time you put any watercraft in the lakefront!

I don't do anything within 50 miles when it comes to boating! I rather go downstream to the Illinois rivers or up to the chain!
