Cars Lost? Not Lost?
Last week a bunch of people lost the take home cars that are costing the City hundreds of thousands, maybe a few million dollars. Now rumors are floating in that the truly favored didn't lose a thing. From the comments:
- As promised the city/cpd took away a lot of take home cars, the criteria was those without call out responsibilities don't need a take home car. They are probably right in most cases BUT
As predicted several still have there cars who probably shouldn't, for example.
A K-9 sgt that lives south and travels everyday to O'Hare and sits in an office and runs the kennels, she doesn't have a dog, what call out responsibilities does she have?
How do the Lt's at the academy lose their cars but a certain SGT at the academy who is the brother of a certain ADS, formerly commander of 18 still keep his? When is he going to be called out?
Sure maybe I maybe whining but the department again shows if you know the right people the rules don't apply. I am sure there are other examples that can be presented...
We heard the various civilian directors lost cars. Commanders who don't have call out responsibilities like 35th Street Admin spots and Elton John fans. Commanding Officers of some of the smaller units, too, along with people who use confiscated cars as personal transportation. We certainly hope this is enough to put Shortshank's Olympic dreams over the top with a bit left over to grant everyone a nice raise.

Agreed some cars were taken, except for clouted ones with bullshit excuses that the upper exempt justified. There is a form to fill out if you can justify why you need the car to/from residence and for what period of time. Must be approved by exempt.
Has the asset forefeiture meritorious lieutenant lost her BMW? How about the administrative sergeants at Detective Divison HQ; do they still have take home cars? Best of all, does the sergeant in ERPS bulk storage still have a take home car?
Hopefully enough to make a detectives class and the rest of the promotions on the pax 501 that was sent out earlier this year.
My Sgt in Traffic still has his take home car. Must be very stressful writing grants all day long, I mean all 2 hours.
When everything cools off, things will go back the same.
It must be nice to be connected to important people in this city. I'd be making 6 figures, have a take home car, be able to break all kinds of rules and laws with impunity.
But I'm not. I wasn't born to the right family, so I have to work hard for the pittance daley thinks I deserve, drive a 10 year old shit car, follow every rule and law knowing that if I make the smallest mistake I'll receive the full wrath of any number of bosses, attorneys and judges.

These are some of the reasons that this will never be a professional police department. Clout from city hall and clout from 35th St. as well as from the state, county and unions.
There are professionals on this job but there are individuals who truly conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Where do you live? Gold Coast? Lincoln Park? The entire city was reassessed this year, and all assessments should have been reduced.

A vacant lot in Logan Square, two vacant lots in Humboldt Park and a condo and a house northwest. The lots, which you can barely GIVE away because no developer is building right now, increased forty to sixty percent.
The condo, up about twenty five percent. The house went up nearly forty percent.
These people have got to be certifiably insane. How is this even possible??!! My poor mother is having a panic attack at the thought she might not be able to pay such insane real estate taxes. The only way these numbers work is if you use the inflated realty prices of four or five years ago, which NO ONE would pay now.
And you've got to love that letter they sent, telling you how you've been reassessed, based on the downturn in the economy.

While we are here trying to figure out who still has the take home cars and who their family/clout is, they will be sliding back the cars, behind our backs, to the ones they already removed them from!
I think in the advertising game they call it the old "Bait and Switch". It's also what makes "magic" shows work. While your attention is drawn to the stunning, nearly-naked assistant, all sorts of Houdinis are escaping from padlocked boxes everywhere!
I still think all CPD vehicles should bear M-plates. It will save money and identify it as a City vehicle when one is utilizing it to move one's children around.

My inherited brick two flat in Andersonville was appraised about 5 yrs ago for $500K after a gut rehab.
5 months ago, it was appraised for a refinancing at $340K. Tax bill assesses it at $570K. Went to Ald. Schulters meeting w/Houlihan and the Cook County Assessors Office where the politicians were appalled at the tax rates and urged everyone who was unhappy to file an appeal. I did.
Two weeks later, I received a letter saying they had received my appeal and were reviewing it. About two days later, another letter came denying the appeal. What a SCAM!!!
I guess The Stuttering Prick can't have a contract with major kickbacks and cost overruns if they don't have the money to begin with!
I still have my cruiser! In fact I just added a FM radio rubberbanded to the visor. I'm starting to trick it out. Vroooom Vrooom !

Why does the Superintendent's staff have take home cars? His drivers and Sergeant better known as Commanding Officer? Why does the Chief of Staff have a take home car. WHY does he need to respond to any scene? Why does Asst. Supt. Cuello have a take home car. She is in charge of Administration right and so are her bosses. What, they have to run to the Districts when the computers go down or a car won't start? Why does every Lieutenant in Dep. Supt. Dugan's staff have a take home car. What scene are they responding too? Why do the Sergeants in IAD have take home cars. I can understand 1 per night to respond to an incident, but all of them? What about the Detective Division Liuetenants. We are supposed to watach OT right? So why would they respond to a scene off hours? Why does any Academy staff have a take home car?
I want a fucking contract and I want the city and the Superintendent to stop playing fucking games. You can pay a ridiculous amount of overtime for an entire Academy Staff to teach a Recruit class of 3 because our department's incompetent legal staff allowed the Superintendent to make a stupid move regarding 5 recruits now turned 3. That is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen. You are now paying OT galore for some more BS and we don't have a fucking contract! You are paying BIS a ridiculous amount of overtime when the elite Gang Teams arrests are down what 7,000 from last year and they are making twice the money. WTF!

Not sure why this is. Everybody I know on the northwest side just got a notice of proposed assessed valuation for taxes payable in 2010 and it went down.
Tact Lt's to give up cars Jan 16th after the bids come out so if they leave tact they will be assigned to 1st watch for the rest of the year.
Can someone please tell me why this goof Commander Lewin or what ever his rank is has a take home car. Never ever been on the street and never wil1. Then he has the nerve to park in 023's parking lot which holds about 25 cars. This all happening while the new police station is being built along with a parking garage. No parking anywhere for the police showing up for roll call. What an ignorant S.O.B.

It's paid to a former steamroller operator named Dennis J. Gannon. But Gannon's city hall pension - $153,649 a year - isn't based on what he was paid as a steamroller operator and foreman for the city's Department of Streets and Sanitation.

Does the female Lt in central d still have hers. I know there are a lot of call outs there when they run out of bolagna and bread.
I certainly think that most people down at Homan do not deserve take homes, but if you are going to give them to EB's congregation, other members should have them also...some of them like taking 6 hour lunches too. check on your new reassessment bill. Even if you assessment went up on say 15 % you market value of your house may have gone up 100% that is because the changed the rate from 16% to 10% There is a blue like asterack next to the new market value and when you click on it it shows the letter when the board changed the formula

what the fuck is this, i know alot of coppers are fucking handicapped in their heards but to use someone elses placard to park in front of the lot at hq is somewhat disgusting.

Not ALL CFD take home cars are M plates. There are about 6-8 that are not.
But the funny thing is yrs ago all tac cars were regular plates but the city made them M plates saying that it is much cheaper that way even thou the tac teams wer meant to be low keyed and had to ID. But now most of the bosses have regular plates. I guess they think we don't know that they are city cars when we see them parked at home.
Whats the story on the 3 recruits. How can they have a class of three and how did the city screw up and cause this to happen Someone said the class was originally 5 There has to be some story behind this one

The Sgt. from the K-9 training center was told to give up her take home car last week, she now has to coe into Homan Square every morning or drive her own car to work, she didn't need a take home car, the MSF LTs also lost their cars all 4 of them. Is it still true that the Traffic Court Sgt still has her car and an indoor parking spot at the Daley Center? My partner and I were at Juvenile court this morning. Must he nice to have a reserved spot! And then they have the balls to write up the working police for wearing a wind breaker to and from court on off hours. On beat 1611 every 4th car is a CPD or City of Chgo take home car. It B.S.

pot hole on my street for 2 months now so i axes my nieghbor hey we should get the street pave he saz no leave the pot hole that way the speeders will slow down!! have u ever noticed the handicapped parking spots in front of hq in the lot. i watched several police officers, well i mean people wearing the same uniform i do exit their personal cars, place the hadicap placard on their mirror and waltz into hq for their tour of duty.
what the fuck is this, i know alot of coppers are fucking handicapped in their heards but to use someone elses placard to park in front of the lot at hq is somewhat disgusting.
you lazy fucking do nothings at hq you should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you mutts.

I am no fan of EB, but he has enough shit on his belt for you not to make up some shit. He is not under any type of investigation. We did an excellent job reviewing his file BEFORE he was promoted. All civil cases were dismissed. We found no more in his than we did any other working police officer. All of his CR#'s were closed. Same reference as above. He is actually exremely intelligent. He just lets his little head get in teh way. He would run circles around ALL of the Exempts except maybe 5. We saw their files too! If he has happened to pass through one of your femail companions in his process, then hey, chit happens! Don't fight it out here. I like reading facts not personal bullshit!

He has been called out at all times of night to different parts of the city. He also was shot in the line of duty many years ago. He could of took disability but refused. To this poster: I don't work at HQ, but I hate people who violate handicapped parking. I have a handicapped buddy, and I know how valuable those spaces are. Here is a thought: If you see someone get out of a car which is parked in a handicapped spot, you being a police officer have the right, or I might add, DUTY to ask them to prove up. If they really need the spot, they will be happy that you are watching out for them. If not, you can write a ticket, or at the least, make them move. Are you psychic? My best friend has MS and a handicap placard. While he may look 'normal' to you as he walks into a building, he is not. His legs can give out at any time, especially the farther he walks. His arm can twitch uncontrollably without warning. But he goes to work every day and isn't milking the medical.
My mother has a heart condition and isn't supposed to walk great distances. Her shortness of breath increases the farther she has to walk. She, too, has a placard, and to you she might appear to be waltzing into a building. Until she collapes, that is.
It takes a doctor's certification to to get the placard. Never presume you know what's really going on, because the minute you think you do, you've proven you know nothing.

I have a take home car because I work in HIDTA. After 6 yrs working as the real police in 005 and 021 I finally have gotten some gravy. Don't sit up and beef and hate. I work for this car and the other perks. When Im working on a wire on ChristmaS INSTEAD OF BEING WITH FAMILY, Or working on surveillance on my birthday I have earned these rights. So stop the hate!
