Not An Open Primary...Yet

  • Cook County Board President Todd Stroger failed to get an endorsement from his fellow Democratic Ward and Township committeemen Friday.

A motion for an open primary narrowly failed, so Stroger’s backers pushed for a roll-call vote in which each of the 80 committeemen, including those on Stroger’s payroll in Cook County government, had to go on record stating who they supported among the five candidates or vote “present.”

Eight committeemen who hold so-called “Shakman-exempt” jobs that Stroger could terminate on a moment’s notice all voted for Stroger, as did two committeemen whose nephews hold such jobs. Those added up to 10 of the 24 committeemen, including Stroger himself, supporting him. But it still wasn’t enough to give Stroger a majority of the 80-member committee’s weighted vote.

Interesting that Stroger controls 10 spots by the ability to be able to fire the holders of those spots. It kind of gives lie to the theory of being answerable to the voters at any given time. And he still can't generate a majority of the committee? Interesting times.

In order to get more attention from the media, and get more votes, Johnny G. should dress up as Spider-Man. Sir Cakes could even be his sidekick, Boy Blunder! He should then run around the 30 sector, making arrests, clocking the ho's, and locking up the bad guys. Go Johnny G. go! Or should I say, "Go Spider-John Go!"

Every one of the four announced Democratic candidates for the Cook County Board Presidency is a "made member" of the Daley/Burke Crime Family.

There will be NO CHANGE voting for any one of them.

I hope that the media publishes who these ten individuals are, then I can make sure I vote against them in the future.

The only way we will make these lice politicians look out for us is to vote for their opponents.

Stroger could pull all the fast ones he is able to but when it comes down to the other guy on the ballot or Stroger, I'll vote for the other guy.

Mayor Daley's job approval: 35%
September 12, 2009 12:00 PM

With the Olympics vote looming, it's clear Mayor Richard Daley is struggling in the eyes of Chicagoans. For the first time in his six terms in office, more voters disapprove of the job he is doing than approve.

THANKS FOR YOUR SELF PROMOTION MR O'BRIEN. MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW:

REGARDING CORRUPTION IN THE WATER RECLAMATION DISTRICT INVOLVING SEWER CONTRACTS AND MAYOR'S SON PATRICK DALEY:

"Two of the district's elected commissioners -- President Terrence J. O'Brien and Finance Chairman Gloria Alitto Majewski -- said they approved the contract but never knew the mayor's son was involved".

WINK, WINK!

YEAH MR. O'BRIEN.

THAT IS SO TOTALLY BELIEVABLE!

YOU MIRACULOUSLY APPROVE A CONTRACT WITH A COMPANY OWNED BY THE MAYOR'S SON BUT YOU WEREN'T AWARE OF IT???

THAT RESPONSE HAS MAYORAL DENIABLE PLAUSIBILITY WRITTEN ALL OVER IT!

Try to get a job at the Water Reclamation District for yourself or your kid! It's just like Stroger's operation -- a closed shop unless you're connected.
