Class Acts in Colorado

We can't say enough about the Denver and Englewood Police Departments:
  • Densey Cole II lay paralyzed almost 1,000 miles from where he works as a Chicago cop and had a visitor -- the police chief of Denver.

"He didn't just visit me, he saluted me," Cole said of Gerald Whitman. "That's the class act he is."

Officers in and around Englewood, Colo., where Cole has been treated since July for a spinal cord injury, think he is the class act and have adopted him and his wife, giving them tickets to concerts and sports contests and lending an old police cruiser.

  • Police officers say it's common for them to support brethren wherever they are. But in Denver, where injured officers from around the country come for treatment at Craig, there is an organized outreach coordinated by the Englewood Police Department.
The entire article is high praise for our brothers and sisters in blue. And the number of Chicago Police who have gone out to Denver to visit and lend support is inspiring. Many are listed by name and quoted in the article. You bring pride to an embattled organization with your efforts.

"Class Acts". Almost like the hierarchy of the CPD.

Disregard, my mistake. I misread and thought it said "Lacks Class". Lacks class as in Jody P. Weis and the rest of the exempt ranks who've uttered nary a word of support for a critically injured member of our department.

As a member of this department, whether long-term or PPO, patrolmen or exempt, the "real police" or house mouse, one thing should be unanimous throughout the spectrum of rank and tenure... unwavering support for any officer like Densey Cole.

Too bad this tragedy had to happen in the first place. Yet an equally, if not bigger tragedy, is the stunning silence emanating from what are supposed to be our leaders.

This is another prime example of why this once-great department is destined for extinction.

Seems like the Denver and Englewood PD's could teach the majority of us here back home a thing or two about camaraderie.

Awesome. Cool.

But isn't it embarrasing in front of other (competent) LE agencies to belong to such a f*ked up organization (CPD)?

I wouldn't even admit it. I'd prentend I was a civilian.

It just shows what a vast difference there is between ours and other Police Departments. Since organizations tend to reflect their leadership, (oh, right, we have no leadership, so lets just call it management!), the CPD tends to be soulless and operate without humanity!

Are you kidding me? How would this department treat an injured member of another
department......probably not any better then they treat their own. There is no camaraderie left with in CPD,it is really very sad and disheartening. I was once a proud member, but after I was injured in the line of duty I found out first hand how this department and a great majority of its members treat those of us injured IN THE LINE OF DUTY, not just on duty. and its pathetic. Retirement can't come quick enough.

Great Job Colorado! Thank you for showing me not all departments are as sad as CPD.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Hey, wait a minute! Are you saying our "chief" isn't a class act?

Didn't he put Bill Cozzi in jail?

Didn't he get you the SUV that flipped and led to your current predicament?

Didn't he singlehandedly (Masters) tear the very heart and soul out of the exempt upper echelon of this Department and replace them with know nothing, clout carrying idiots who are incapable of one original thought amongst them?

Didn't he put on the uniform of a Chicago Police officer when he had NEVER earned it by going thru a police academy, NEVER worked in a beat car, NEVER handled a domestic disturbance call or NEVER had to "Serve and Protect" the citizens of Chicago for one single day of his life?

Hmmmm? O K, ya got me. He's got a pretty thin (as in non-existent) resume in support of his being a class act. Maybe by reading the Tribune story, he'll get a clue. Or maybe he'll just continue to be the arrogant, detached, unsympathetic and unemotional bitch that he was hired to be! The clock is ticking. Just who the hell do you want to be remembered as, Jody Weis?

Shameful, just shameful, when one reads the comments under the article, where it is confirmed that Weis has neither called nor visited with Cole.
Mayor Daley, you've made some hiring gaffes in your 20± years here running Chicago into the ground, but your choice of Weis as Supt. has got to be one of your biggest blunders.
What a proven insensitive clod we have to look up to.

I was in Colorado this past weekend and let me tell you what a great experience that was. First seeing Densey and meting his family was both a pleasure and an honor. I would have liked to have spent more time with him. He had so many people trying to get some time with him, including his daughters I didn't want to be to intrusive.

As for the police out in Colorado I have never seen such a display of pure, unselfish acts of class. There where police from from several jurisdictions, local, state, and federal agencies. Everyone I talked to had the same attitude "we are all brothers" and "anything we can do for a brother" (and sister). Nobody was in "it" for themselves.

To every "Brother and Sister" that I met on my trip THANK YOU. Thanks for taking care of our brother Densey, my new brother Chris and all the other injuried brother and sisters that come your way.

A letter posted on the website below from our superintendant sparked me to write this for some reason. I will leave my personal feelings about the letter to myself. http://www.thecenturionlawenforcementministry.org/

Thanks again Brothers and Sisters out west

Hey Chicago media take noted from FOX news in Denver you could learn something.

Good luck Densey you look great.

Thanks again to all the Police Officers in the great state of Colorado.

The law enforcement outreach program out there in Colorado has sent ofiicers EVERY single day to Densey and Mary to ask about their needs.
If there is ANYTHING that they need or want the outreach program provides it. NO questions asked.
Everyday, every single day.

Hey command staff of the CPD, what have you done for Densey or his family?
The only supervisor that has done anything is his watch commander, and she did it on her own time and dime as well because the command staff of this department has not authorized any assistance for Densey and his family!

Shame on the command staff and may god watch over your heartless souls.

lets be realistic about this one for a sec. densey is 1000 miles away rehabbing, most of us dont have the time (family, kids etc) of money to just pick up fly to denver to visit our coworker. he was overwhelmed with the visits and cards while he was here in hinsdale or christ. denver pd are some stand up guys and gals, from their boss on down supporting denz and his wife. if a denver cop was rehabbing in chicago due to a highly publishized duty related occurrence,(god 4bid) or any po for that matter we all would be doing the exact same for that officer and his family during they're stay here. we all would be on the news stating how good cpd has been to our family etc. thats just the way its suppose to be!!!! so while densey is away most of us can only pray, send a card or email and wait till he returns. however i do think j-fed couldve at least went to visit since he is the superintendant! esp he knows what most of us think of him, the moral, and thats what a stand up boss should do. j-fed did visit denz in the hospital at christ, but we dont know if he has send a card of flowers or anything? let j-fed sink his own ship! so lets not make this denver pd is the greatest and jfed you suck!? just leave it get well densey, we're here for you! i hear denz coming back in a month so lets continue the support for him as much as we can! stay safe all!

ABC News is reporting that had the FBI listened to their informant Elie Assaad in early 2001, they would have thwarted the 9/11 attack led by Mohammed Atta.

The FBI ignored Assaad's information on Atta and sent him on a wild goose chase with terrorist wannabes.

The FBI refuses comment.

We all know of the role of OPR's Jody "Take Him Out" WEIS in attempting to silence FBI whistleblower Robert Walker

Who are the FBI operatives that diverted Assaad's intelligence efforts away from 9/11 mastermind Atta?
