B.O.H.I.C.A.

This is our childrens' future. And our grandchildrens'. Unless they are lucky enough to move out of this city as soon as they are able.
  • A City Council committee today approved an ordinance that would authorize Mayor Richard Daley to sign the Olympics host city agreement that would leave taxpayers on the hook if there are major cost overruns for the 2016 Games.

The contract would require the city to cover cost overruns beyond the $750 million already backed by the city and state. Olympic organizers say insurance policies would protect the public, making it unlikely they would even dip into the $750 million.
Just a quick question - who's paying the premiums on this so called "insurance" policy? Taxpayers? So we're getting the shaft either way. Thanks for clearing that up.

By the way, did anyone see London's 2012 Olympic debacle lately? Their $4.5 billion bid is currently approaching $20 billion in cost. But don't worry about Chicago's history of shady dealings, crooked contracting and monstrous cost overruns.

I'd love to take a vote right now. Find out WHO wants Da Limpiks. Lets get their Name and Address now. This way, when OUR taxes go through the roof, we can hand the bill over to them! “You wanted it, not us! Now its your turn to pay up!”

The last time I read that magical piece of paper, it said something in the neighborhood of: “A government of the people, by the people and for the people…” It said nothing about sticking it in our ass as far and as fast as they can! This town needs an enema!

some not to old history lesson!

Daley claimed no overuns back then too!

HISTORY WILL REPEAT ITSELF...

The park is considered to be the city's most important project since the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893,[3][4] and it far exceeded its originally proposed budget of $150 million. The final cost of $475 million was borne both by Chicago taxpayers and private donors. The city paid a total of $270 million and private donors paid the remainder.[5] Private donors assumed roughly half of the financial responsibility for the cost overruns.[6]

TALK ABOUT A BALANCED BUDGET WE ARE DOOMED..... GET READY FOR DISTRICTS TO NOT HAVE DESK CREWS ON MIDNIGHTS AND ACCESS WILL BE DENIED TO THE PUBLIC.

The insurance scam is another reason why I don't purchase the papers or watch "the news". How hard would it be for the media to ask what are the premiums and who's making the commissions. The insurance is probably the tip of the pyramid of scam.

I wonder if the press will run with this little tidbit of information or whether it'll be buried as usual. Time will tell.

As a federal taxpayer, we have to pay for the federal debt created for the crooked car dealerships loans.

As a city taxpayer, now we have to be responsible for the absurd debt created by one crazy mayor who wants the olympics in the city.

As a city worker, our salary has to suffer because we are responsible for the city budget debt created by the poor management and thievery skills of the mayor and the aldermen.

As a county taxpayer, we have to pay higher taxes because we have to be responosible for the county budget debt created by the brazen thievery of the county board.

I am so fricking sick and tired of being responsible for crooked politicians inane and criminal actions. Like the movie said, the working man is a sucker.

Knowing that London's 2012 Olympic $4.5 billion bid is currently approaching $20 billion in cost, what insane insurer would be willing to write this policy?

How much are the premiums?

Does Venecko Olympic Insurance Co. get the business and use our pension funds as collateral?

Will he collect millions in premiums to distribute to the Daley/Burke/Madigan Crime Family and then file for bankruptcy leaving our pension funds and the taxpayers on the hook for billions?

This Olympic SCAM is no clearer or above board than the sale of Chicago's parking meters and the whole thing just wreaks of fraud and chronyism. I hope a news report that I read is true, that Daley's dragging his feet on signing the IOC's Host City Agreement, will cause them to go in another direction.

At least one U S City, Pittsburgh, doesn't think Chicago will get the 2016 games. They are already planning a bid for the 2020 Games, knowing full well that the IOC will not award back-to-back Games to the same country. HERE'S TO PITTSBURGH 2020!!!!!

OT - We're broke but take another $10 million

Panel OKs Bigger City Grant For United's Move To Willis Tower
By: Thomas A. Corfman Sept. 08, 2009
(Crain’s) — The Daley administration is coughing up an additional $10 million to entice the parent of United Airlines to move its operations center downtown from the northwest suburbs, boosting the total subsidy to nearly $36 million.

A $10-million grant comes on top of a tax-increment financing (TIF) subsidy of roughly $25 million that city officials disclosed earlier this month when they announced UAL Corp.’s decision to move 2,500 jobs from Elk Grove Township to Willis Tower, 233 S. Wacker Drive.
“The overall package offered by the city was critical to our decision,” a United spokeswoman says.

i wonder if anybody will ever see the policy. my bet is there are plenty of loopholes which will allow aon to say gfy to the taxpayers when the costs soar out of control. my limited experience with insurance companies is they don't like to pay.

***RED FLAG*** ***RED FLAG*** ***RED FLAG***

Ald. Manny Flores (1st) negotiated some of those oversight requirements with Daley's office, BUT HE LOST A BATTLE TO ENSURE THAT THE CITY'S INSPECTOR GENERAL AND AN INDEPENDENT ADVISORY GROUP GET TO REVIEW THE OLYMPIC ORGANIZING COMMITTEE'S QUARTERLY REPORTS.

What could possibly be in that quarterly report that the Stuttering Prick would want to keep away from the Inspector General???

The 2016 Olympics is spelled R-I-O.

It's a done deal, the only thing that remains is the bullshit posturing all the officials are doing.

The IOC might have enough time for one more junket to each of the cities, too. They still have some fact finding to do, and also are eager to check out a few of the restaurants they didn't get to the first couple of times.

I seem to remember that Daley said that the Olympics would not cost tax payers a dime. This is some more of the garbage I am coming to expect from Daley and the Chicago Machine. I like the idea of the Olympics but in the end I don't want the city to go bankrupt so that Daley and his crew of cronies and crooks can get richer and fatter off of tax dollars. Why is it that Chicago has money for the Olympics but no money for the Chicago Police Department? Why no contract, when he is already making deals for the Olympics which are 7 years away? To hell with Daley and this city. I am asking that CPD officers become less proactive and wait until it is too late for the city to bid on the Olympics as the contract has not been settled.

God Bless the CPD and nobody else.

Aon is a broker, not an insurance company, so Aon would assume no risk.

I can't believe that there is any way that Aon should be allowed to be involved in placing the insurance. Shortshanks and his crew can't be that obvious. Can they?
