Speaking too Soon?

In the "Irony?" post a few slots down from this one, the Department is finally addressing the shootings issue. All year, shootings were way up and no one commented on them officially. Finally, shootings are down by thirty-one and everyone is patting each other on the back.

Sunday's media outlets have sobering reminders that it's only September, and there's plenty of months to go:
And that was just the Sun Times. A slight reduction, while still a reduction, is not an indicator that things are turning around just yet.

Slightly off topic,
Speaking of crime and the police...
Richard Roeper wrote in his column
after the death of Police Officer A.V.,"We are very lucky that anyone wants to be a Chicago Police Officer in 2009. "

OT - NO SWEARING AT COPS!!!!!!!!!!!

KENOSHA - In Kenosha it could soon cost you $118 for swearing at police. An alderman wants to give police officers and firefighters the authority to write a ticket to people who swear at them.

Kenosha Alderman Patrick Juliana says he got the idea for the proposed ordinance after seeing firsthand a night in the life of Kenosha police.

Any chance he can be extradited to run for Mayor of Chicago???

I read in the Sun Times editorial section that there is apparently some kind of "rivalry" between West and South siders trying to determine whose lives are worse.

The side that does the most damage to their community, both structurally and morally, will be the winner.

Milwaukee Police have arrested Walter E. ELLIS, M/1/49, for the serial murders of at least six prostitutes in 21 years.

Contrary to a general nationwide perception, over fifteen percent of all known serial murderers are African-American like Mr. Ellis.

DNA connected Ellis to the murders.

" Chicago for the second year in a row the country's most stressful city. Crowding, poor air quality, a high 11% unemployment rate and free-falling home values have created a cocktail of constant worry affecting many in the Windy City."

Did you ever take a case to "the West Side" (2600 S. California) as many of us detectives do constantly.?

The Drainage Canal (the south border of 010) is the boundary between the West and Southwest Side (all the way west to the City's border with the suburb of Cicero) since long before you were born, slick.

It's because of goofs like you that the media makes the same mistake. All of the districts in Area 4 (excluding 001) plus all of 015 and 025 south of North, then Grand Ave. are collectively and correctly referred to as "THE WEST SIDE".

It would be absolutely riveting to learn YOUR boundaries of the West Side (which actually includes Pilsen and Little Village).

Nope, dope. The BNSF line is the "southern" border of the west side. Seems the 1's and 4's figured that one out before you did, slack.
